Well Oct 20 th my Dad passed away 86 years old. We are having funeral Nov 7 and after that heading to deer shack. We will have much tears and many laughs remembering my father. Shack near Fairbanks MN
I am so sorry for your loss. That is sad. My prayers to you and your family. Driving through Fairbanks, it is hard to make that drive without slowing down for deer in the ditch. Good luck.
@@JoeandZachSurvival thank you for your kind words I watch your videos and heck your family like mine when it comes to hunting. No deer and we still hunt same area
Joe, watching this video has me anxious to go to deer camp this year. Of course, we no longer have the bus or campsite that we had leased for 32 years. Now we take the camper that Jerod bought to the mountain for deer season. That is some beautiful country you guys get to hunt up there Joe. Always look forward to The Tent videos, don't always comment but I always like and watch the videos. Thank you so much for sharing. I thought Zach checked the stands when he was up last? That is some heavy cover for the deer. It would be hard to hunt, now I understand why you guys rifle hunt from tree stands. Question, Joe, can you do the homemade butter in the jars like you have done for years?? I love homemade butter, haven't had any in probably 40 years now. When we used to visit my uncle in Virginia, they always had homemade butter. We would bring several pounds home with us when we left. Your meals always make me hungry, Joe!! LOL I have a Remington 742 BDL in 30-06, love it. Of course, if you check my channel any you see that Jerod and I love the older Remingtons. Yes, the 742's have to be cleaned and kept cleaned. Just make sure to use a lite grease on the inner rails that the bolt slides on. Being it is a semi-auto, it is like an AR, there are places to oil and then there are places than need to be greased. I figured you would have fried up a grouse for dinner. Joe, thank you for taking us along. Good luck this season to all of you. Juddie
Joe, i know that you are aware that your sight in a rifle for 1 grain of bullets doesn't mean it is sighted in for all grains of bullets because it won't be. Lighter bullets tend to fly higher and usually to the right. I know that you always use the same ammo year after year. It's always a pleasure to see the tent in all seasons. Thank you
Joe, I can understand your hesitation to use a semi automatic since you have not hunted with one. But just food for thought. I bought my model 742 30.06 in 1980. 44 years and several dozen deer later I have yet to ever have it jamb on me. That said, As always we greatly enjoy your videos and look forward to your deer hunting videos at the tent every year. Wishing you, Sarah, and Zach much success this season. God bless and good hunting! 🦌
I got one of those tiny computers you mentioned and I love it. It’s so easy, compact and light to carry. The only thing I had to do was get a usb expansion box because it didn’t have enough for me.
Hey Joe, in one of your upcoming videos could you show how you cook your grouse? Everybody prepares it a bit different, would be nice to see how you do it. Thanks
Ahh the 742 woodsmaster..own 2 amd have owned a couple. They are VERY ammo specific. Mine only have like the green and yellow box Remington 180Gr SP (Round Nose)
It is certainly a nice spot you have. Our deer season opens on November 4 (Ontario, Canada). Wolves and coyotes are a serious problem too. Your Thanksgiving is approaching - turkey for dinner? Young Festus is growing fast too.
I am anxious to see you give the tent a maintenance video. Give the tent complete upgrade. Would you consider building a work shed on property of your tent to park machinery and tools needed so you don’t have to keep going to your dads cabin?
We have lived in Missouri and we had a heck of a lot of deer, close to 30 of them at onetime. Now that we haven't had rain for over a month, no deer. I think they are staying closer to water in ponds. I had been going through many bags of whole corn. I also have gone through cracked corn for the turkeys but they aren't here anymore either. I keep a mineral block out in the pasture and one day last week the mom and her two babies were there. But now not seeing anything. I'm saving money but we enjoy watching them. We don't hunt. Will Greer was grandpa Walton
Hey Joe just a little tid bit on the 742, try to use 150 grain ammo in it. I have one also and the faster burning powder used with the lighter bullet cycles better.
*I sure hope there is some upcoming Polka Music* Side note. The Rem 742 does not do well with *HEAVY* loads. Stick with light loads and you'll never have problems. The internals were engineered when .30-06 loads were much lighter in pressure. YMMV
That station is still offline. It has been a lot of years and they keep saying that they are working on the transmitter (the new owners) but still no polka. I really miss the Saturday mornings with it.
