You are truly blessed to still be able to spend these times with your father, I lost my dad at a real young age (11) and I always enjoy seeing the time you get to spend with him in your videos. I enjoyed this video. But I was scrolling and found a Tent video from 7yrs ago, First snow fall of the year 8 - 10 inches on the ground, you run the loop cutting trees and make trail mix. Power went out and it was the week before deer season . Awesome video!!!

Joe, watching this video has me anxious to go to deer camp this year. Of course, we no longer have the bus or campsite that we had leased for 32 years. Now we take the camper that Jerod bought to the mountain for deer season. That is some beautiful country you guys get to hunt up there Joe. Always look forward to The Tent videos, don't always comment but I always like and watch the videos. Thank you so much for sharing. I thought Zach checked the stands when he was up last? That is some heavy cover for the deer. It would be hard to hunt, now I understand why you guys rifle hunt from tree stands. Question, Joe, can you do the homemade butter in the jars like you have done for years?? I love homemade butter, haven't had any in probably 40 years now. When we used to visit my uncle in Virginia, they always had homemade butter. We would bring several pounds home with us when we left. Your meals always make me hungry, Joe!! LOL I have a Remington 742 BDL in 30-06, love it. Of course, if you check my channel any you see that Jerod and I love the older Remingtons. Yes, the 742's have to be cleaned and kept cleaned. Just make sure to use a lite grease on the inner rails that the bolt slides on. Being it is a semi-auto, it is like an AR, there are places to oil and then there are places than need to be greased. I figured you would have fried up a grouse for dinner. Joe, thank you for taking us along. Good luck this season to all of you. Juddie

Joe, i know that you are aware that your sight in a rifle for 1 grain of bullets doesn't mean it is sighted in for all grains of bullets because it won't be. Lighter bullets tend to fly higher and usually to the right. I know that you always use the same ammo year after year. It's always a pleasure to see the tent in all seasons. Thank you

We have lived in Missouri and we had a heck of a lot of deer, close to 30 of them at onetime. Now that we haven't had rain for over a month, no deer. I think they are staying closer to water in ponds. I had been going through many bags of whole corn. I also have gone through cracked corn for the turkeys but they aren't here anymore either. I keep a mineral block out in the pasture and one day last week the mom and her two babies were there. But now not seeing anything. I'm saving money but we enjoy watching them. We don't hunt. The 742 auto and its brother, the pump version are famous for quick handling and follow-up shots. the auto had a reputation for soft recoil. Plus 1 about trying a new magazine. I would clean the chamber with an over-size bore brush with a few wraps of very fine, like 4 ought, steel wool soaked in Kroil or any bore cleaner. Rifle should be ok with any factory '06 ammo. I'd be happy with plain Jane Remington Core-lock's in 150, 165, or, 180 gr. loads as the 742 is not known for stellar accuracy. About the scope windage, with adjustment all the way left, something is out (windage wise), maybe the receiver and barrel not aligned, front and rear scope base screw hole not aligned with the receiver (or each other), sloppy mount machining or the scope itself. Who knows? Not be an issue if shots are close the sight-in range, but very very could be at a longer distance. Simplest solution is to use a base/mount that has windage adjustment in the rear mount. First, count the clicks from the left all the way right, then back to the left 1/2 of the clicks, thus centering the reticle. On the bench, use the opposing screws in the rear mount to get close, then finish sighting normally. Not meaning to spend your money, but..... replacing that scope with a low-power Leupold VX 1x4 or VX3 1.5x5 mounted in the lowest base/rings would yield a low recoiling rifle that points better than most shotguns, perfect for quick shots and/or the ladies.
