It’s so special when a sermon touches your heart. I use to hate going to church. By the time I got myself ready and 3 young kids, I lost all religion. It was so hard.
Megan, your pastor was preaching to all believers, not just those in Lancaster, PA! The world tells us that we need all those things or have to be like others, BUT the truth is we are to live for Christ alone! We all need a reboot! Keep on keeping on in the LORD! God bless you and yours!
Ironically, the Lord recently placed it in my heart (what felt like randomly) to pray for you specifically on the topic the sermon addressed. Wow, how amazing to know the Lord is thinking about you and wants to use you for His kingdom purposes first!
Your discussion on the sermon was wonderful. I learn visually and your pastor’s use of those props was memorable. I read a story of an Amish husband who wanted to purchase his wife a new gas or propane powered washing machine. She told him no because she said that would cut her prayer time in half. She prayed for each member of the family as she hand washed their clothes and didn’t want that time taken from her. It made me think about being in the world but not of the world. It’s a hard road to be on sometimes. I’m 59 years old and learn so much from you. Thank you and God bless.

Being able to hear a homily in mass feels like a rare portion of extra grace to prepare for the week.
I enjoyed the singing, it brought back a lot of fond memories. We had no instruments, except a pitch pipe. The harmony was beautiful, as a little kid I always thought this is what Heaven sounds like. 😊

Your Sunday doesn’t look any different than our non Mennonite Christian Sunday’s. We grew up with huge family meals after church. Now we live far away but I still keep those traditions for my kids. Congratulations on the new baby!
I feel it is best for pastors to alternate weekly between reading a chapter of the Bible (the Bible through) and preaching on a topic which is Current and needed for the congregation. This way no topics in the Bible are Missed and Topics that are presently needed are also addressed. 📖 ⛪

I think that you can still have goals like you have, as long as they are focused around your family and relationships, which glorifies God. Having a cabin in the woods if you have the means is fine if you use it to connect with your family and share God’s message and intentions with your family. I agree that we shouldn’t need worldly things to feel fulfilled. But if you are able to, it can be used to glorify Him. I think it’s okay to enjoy life as long as we are living morally. We used to go to the local deli every Sunday after church. We’d go home and have big lunch meat sandwiches on Kaiser rolls and then we’d all take naps. We’d have lunch meat for the rest of the week after that.

When yogi talked about Lancaster County I was so surprised. In my mind I have always thought that Lancaster was the last place people would be trying to keep up with all worldly things. Good to know! We all need to do better with always trying to amass more.

You don’t have to add celery. I make one with kale, blueberries, lemon and ginger. It’s amazing and simple to make.
@@s.s.1704 sure. For more of a green juice… 3 cups of kale, 1/2 cup of blueberries 1 lemon and I small piece of fresh ginger. If not sweet enough I add a drop or 2 of stevia. I also love this other version… 2 cups kale, I cup of blueberries 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 tbsp of grated ginger. Add stevia if not sweet enough but it’s usually good without it. This version comes out more berry like than green. Similar tastes. They are both so delicious. You can add more ginger if you like or any of the other ingredients. Or use mixed berries if you like. It’s so versatile. Enjoy!!!
