    This is perfect for acoustic acts who want the ability to stream live. I can see someone pairing this with one of those battery powered speakers like the Maui 5 go and having a really cool all battery powered rig.

    Very smart choice in setup, sliders are a must to me. But I don't see myself going through a lot of menus. The support pillars are not quite enough to stabilize your smartphone or tablet. Cool extra is when using a tablet all cables and plugs are hidden!
    I recently already made my choice for an old school 8 channel mixer, with no audio interface.

    Great review. I had a xAir 16; I sold it because it was unreliable. The built-in ether-net system was unstable. Also, the system occasionally froze during live performances. So, I am skeptical about Behringer wireless devices. But this FLOW 8 looks great. At least the volume can be controlled physically. Questions: (1) Does the FLOW 8 record the scenes internally, or is that info recorded in the tablet memory? (I ask because if the tablet connection died, you could switch to a new scene that you knew worked, if the info resided in the FLOW 8.) (2) How reliable is the built-in ether-net? (3) Does the FLOW 8 include a LAN jack for a hard-wired connection to the control device? Thanks for an excellent video clip.

    I like having one mixer with everything you need, eq, compressor, effects and more. Like the high pass filter for shaping vocals. The compressor can work for limiting. Effects work great. I bring this mixer in a rack and everything to get it working.

    Interesting new option for sure! Any word on pricing? Probably great for a singer/musician youtuber/live streamer. I chose the Rodecaster Pro myself because I wanted individual channel mute buttons right at the front for quick access plus cables going out the back of the unit instead of the top makes it easier to fit on a crowded desk with a computer, etc (I fit mine under my monitor between my keyboard and monitor, cables out the back make it work here).

      I would actually very much prefer the huuuge routing and fx possibilities of the X Air mixers, and would even say they are barely less portable thanks to the builtin PSU and not having any faders on the panel. Plus you get Wifi + Ethernet + MIDI + all balanced inputs and so on.

    Great video. interesting device. I'm interested in what they're going to charge. Behringer has gone from laughing stock to serious contender in recent years due to the success of their digital stuff - I admit I still have some bias against them after buying one of their small mixers 5 years ago. It was terribly noisy. But people seem to like their digital mixers these days and they're certainly killing it in terms of price. I wonder what this one will go for. If it's inexpensive enough, it could sell tons and tons.

I was thinking about this, but now when the price is same as for XR12, I was wondering if FLOW 8 also shares same effects and all dsp with xr32, because they are big deal and very usable. But I would like to know if I want to record the performance in cubase for example, would each channel go to a different track of the cubase.
    For example I put the guitar channel 1, voice channel 2 and drum machine channel 3, would each channel go to a different track of the cubase? or on the contrary, the whole mix would go to a single track of the cubase.

    Hi, great video, thanks!
    2 questions for podcasting, to set up mix-minus for remote guests:
    1. can you configure which channels to send to Monitors 1 & 2?
    2. can you send audio BACK via bluetooth and select what to send back?
    is it maybe hidden under the „mixer snapshots“?
    Thanks!

    • @balazsmihaly77
      @balazsmihaly77 3 роки тому +2

      Don‘t worry about it, I‘ve found out :)
      Question 1: yes, easily, just click in the app at the mixer page on „MON 1“ or „MON 2“ and mute wichever channel you don‘t want to include. Question 2: No, it just seems to stream the signal in, but does not seem to send it back.

  • @Taelre
    @Taelre 3 роки тому +1

    Are Monitor Send 1 and Monitor Send 2 mono or stereo?
    Are you able to link outputs? i.e. when you pull down fader 1 it’ll pull it down for the Main AND Monitor Send 1. Giving you the ability for 2 separate outputs, that could have different max volumes (by spinning the bottom right knob).
    This would be ideal for a DJ wanting music in a separate room.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  3 роки тому

      Hey Tazer, the outputs are each mono but can be linked as a stereo pair. What you're describing on the sends is called a post-fader send, where the channel's send to the aux output tracks as a function of the channel's main L/R send. With the current firmware, mon 1 & 2 outpus are pre-fader while the FX are post fader. Only the Mon sends have physical outputs though, so we'll have to see if they add post fade sends as an option for the Monitor outputs in a future firmware. Thanks for the great question & sorry for the long winded answer.

    I'm still waiting for someone to build a small mixer that functions as a Bluetooth headset. A device like that would make it easy for podcasters to host remote guests when a headphone-jack-less phone is the only option. As well, a mixer/USB interface/Bluetooth headset would be great for a guy like me who takes work calls and writes music at the same desk and wants to use the same mic(s) for everything. Right now the only device that does Bluetooth headset with professional IO is the JK Audio Daptor 3 which isn't cheap.

    @DiscoParadize 3 роки тому

    Thanks for the video. Is th Flow 8 able to manage aux returns (stage returns) ?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  3 роки тому

      The flow 8 has two aux sends, which can be use to send two mono or on stereo mix to any type of stage monitors or in ear monitors.
      Aux returns specifically are a different thing. They were common in the analog era where you'd want to bring back an effect to the console without using a whole input channel, but remain as just Aux inputs on many bigger digital desks as utility inputs often used to plug in local sources at FOH, like an iPod for playback. In that sense there are no aux inputs or returns on this mixer, just the 8 inputs you see on the surface.
      Thanks for the great question.

    Hello sir .
    I just found your video while I was looking for info on mixers on google. You seem very knowledgeable so I have a question that I hope you can answers. I have two different pairs of active speakers, one is the Kali in 8 and the other is the Edifier s3000pro. One have xlr balance inputs the other have RCA. Ok the question is. Can I use a mixer to connect both pairs at once so the same audio plays in all the speakers? For example TV audio or streaming devices or also a turn table. If so can you recommend a mixer for me that sounds well and don't break the bank? I thank you in advance and send my respect from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷😎✌️. Be safe.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Teddy, you certainly could use a mixer to do this, but it sounds like you're looking for something more along the lines of a AV Receiver. You'll need something with a specific phono input for the turntable, and with a TV or other streaming device, you'll probably want to take the audio over HDMI to get the surround channels in digital without a bunch of extra headaches. What brands or home electronics are popular there in PR?
      If you can find a Sony or Yamaha, they both make very good units with bluetooth support and lots of other features.
      All the best to you in Puerto Rico, keep in touch 🤝

      @@DcSoundOp i appreciate your advice and that you took the time to respond to my comment sir. The thing is that I already own two pair of active speakers, one is the Edifier s3000pr0 and the other is the Kali in 8 and i love them both so much that I wanted to pair them to play at the same time and the only way I know how is through a mixer. I thought that a mixer with bluetooth connection would give me the option to connect my smart tv via bluetooth and transmit the sound over to my active speakers. I know it all sounds like a mess but If I went with the traditional home theater i would have to just buy everything again, like receiver, new passive speakers and all of that would set me back a pretty penny. If you have more advice on the route I took plz share it with me sir. Thx again and again keep yourself and the family safe.👍 I'm a sub.of yours now 4 sure.

Can you give more details on where you are stuck exactly? Which green LEDs are you seeing, if you are only looking at the input level when setting the input gain, you will still need to turn the channels up in the mix you are working on & then make sure that mix's output level is turned up too. Are you using the app or trying to do everything on the mixer?

    If they would replace limiter with noise gate treshold i would buy this instantly.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 роки тому

      You'd prefer a noise gate on the outputs instead of a limiter? Is that right? We don't usually gate outputs coming from a console... but I'd be interested to learn what you need them for. For the streaming market this was aimed at, Limiters at the outputs are what most folks need. Looking forward to talking more Doman. Thanks for the message.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 роки тому

      Again, gates are not something that gets used at a console's output though. For gating a microphone as you are describing, you would do that at the microphone's channel insert, not at the output of the console. Gates also work equally as well with dynamic or condenser mics, no matter if they are directional or not. There are also wildly sensitive dynamic mics available on the market, as well as condensers that are designed to not be so sensitive - the two are not necessarily tied together as a rule, though it may seem that way at first.

    • @domantlen6231
      @domantlen6231 2 роки тому

      Limiter basically cuts sound above treshold. Gate closes mic when sound level is BELOW treshold (background) and opens when it reaches it (user voice). Which in practice means that it cuts out all noises when you dont speak (they are not so noticeable when you speak). Offcourse this works the best with directional dynamic mics which already greatly reduce the volume of sounds which are not placed directly before the mic. I use software gate and it works really nice with nonstatic noises like dog barking outside, my kids playing and watching cartoons in next room, my neighbour students having good sex behind the wall... But i need solution which can be set outside from the host - device which has gate either set by a knob or remotely from mobile device. Rodecaster pro has gate which can be set though lcd screen. But i dont like its price/capabilities ratio. I thought that presonus io24 interface would be such device (connecting to laptop and managing remotely from android) but remote connection rely on installed software on the host. Ive seen many devices and made big topics on reddit. Finally i ordered behringer xr12 + uac202. Both cost less than rodecaster but xr capabilities are far greater than rodecasters.
