  • Just West of Princeton, British Columbia, Canada, at the other side of a train tunnel that is located below Highway 3, is this historic train trestle that spans the Tulameen River. Flooding of the river in the past 48-hours has cut away access to this structure severing a link for ATVers/ORVers, cyclists and other users who would travel from here to Coalmont and Tulameen. it's a critical gap that will need to be repaired as well as the sections that were destroyed upriver - we will be advocating for that as this section of rails to trails is part of the Trans Canada Trail route across the Province from Castlegar to Hope - These rail trails are public assets for recreation that cannot be underestimated by the Provincial government. This is a difficult time for many throughout Southern BC and especially Princeton. Our hearts go out to everyone that is impacted by the floods and their aftermath.

      Thanks for the video, I too rode over that in the Summer doing the EPIC1000 route. It'll be a while before that one is fixed, along with everything else on the TCT.

    I wonder how much of the KVR trail will be left after this, I really hope its not lost for good.

      Yah, same here. I also wonder if there is going to be TCT work parties where you can donate your time to repair the trail.

    Have you been upstream from Princeton on the KVR trail to look at flooding damage?

    I would be surprised if there were any surviving salmon eggs in the flooded rivers in B.C. and Wash. State. All that water probably scoured the gravel off the bottom or buried the eggs in several feet of gravel and mud.

    I predict a lot of gold seekers next summer when the River level drops, there will be new areas exposed by the flooding

    Is that Coalmont?

    • @PrincetonBCNews
      @PrincetonBCNews  2 роки тому

      It is not. It is the railway right-of-way (Trans-Canada Trail) that takes you to Coalmont. The Coalmont Road is elsewhere.

    Wow , now they will all know how to make these roads and bridges better to withstand even worse weather. Make lemonade out of a lemon right ! More jobs coming !

      Trouble is when they spec. out a job like this no one will commit the money to a job that seems "overbuilt", that is too high or too strong for conservative conditions. For sure there will be jobs but the more you just fix what's broken in your country the more it is just maintenance & not growth (not that we don't need maintenance, we sure do)
