- Here's my new video for the king and queen of angst.
Let me just first say how surprised I was at how many people left this ship. I get that they're a lot, and angsty but guess I'm just a sucker for those. I also loved Ruby and Isaac, and I think we can only applaud the writers for that.. Making fans like other ships so fast and so passionately takes good writing. I loved this season. Sex Education matured a lot and has such a great varity of interesting characters it's insane. But these two will always stand out for me. Even if people don't really see it anymore they're at the heart of the show and they truly do carry it.
I do agree that we need to see more of them, more casual moments.. just like in Season 1. All it took for me is to rewatch some of these moments and then you just realise how special these two are.
Yes, Otis is great with Ruby. He could change a lot, and change her. And yes, Isaac and Maeve had a beautiful moment together and could have worked out as well but that's not what love is about. Despite everything these two live and breathe for one another. Constantly on each others minds.. and the chemistry is insane. The show has a lot of "forced passionate kissing" as I like to call those and the kiss between Asa and Emma was INSANE. How they tried to back away but just couldn't... Phew!
Anyways, this is a tribute to show why I still love them as much as I do. And how great their story is together. They're just trying to figure it out (and I couldn't be happier for Maeve to go and chase her dreams) but something always brings them back to one another.
I hope this video brings some of the fans back because this truly is a great ship. (and endgame).

It was them from the beginning. It will be them forever. Seeing Otis and Ruby was refreshing but Maeve and Otis are made for each other. Their characters are written to be together. They complement each other so well. I keep coming back to these videos pretty often just to see this season's school trip moment. So many dilema, so much love. Burning desires leaking out of constraints. Chefs kiss.

Their story really makes this show special, it’s what drew me into the show, it’s the subtle moments of a coy smile and the insecurity in Otis that over time you see how their characters grow each other and their walls come down more and more with each other. The depth in the writing is truly special. This is surprisingly one of the more beautiful love stories in a show that I’ve ever seen.
It was so emotional …I really love them ..Their stories and the way they’ve evolved …Everything it’s brilliant 🤍

I just belatedly watched the entire series and I love how perfectly this video captures the incredible dynamic between Maeve and Otis. I was actually shocked to learn that people had turned away from this ship and towards Ruby and Otis. I can understand if people enjoyed that dynamic, but I also feel like if you're truly invested in who these characters are at their core then it's so obvious that Maeve and Otis are meant to be. All of these characters are flawed, but I think they act in very human ways, especially as teenagers still figuring out life.
When Maeve comments early in Season 3 that Otis doesn't seem like someone who would want to be in a casual relationship, Otis then almost immediately asks Ruby to be less casual because he actually trusts how Maeve perceives him as a person. When Ruby says that she loves him not long after they start dating, Otis also realizes that in order to be true to himself he has to be honest that he doesn't have the same feelings for her. When Maeve and Otis are stranded in France and the truth is revealed about the voicemail, you can see how much they've been waiting to tell each other how much they care and that their connection matters the most to them. It was never just physical attraction with them; they had deep feelings of love that they didn't know how to process.
I hope Season 4 will actually spend some solid time exploring the dynamic between Maeve and Otis in a proper relationship, how it feels to be with someone you really love, and the intimacy that can be created. I would love for Maeve to meet Jean. The most special thing that I appreciate about Maeve and Otis is that they are able to be vulnerable and completely themselves with each other, and that it is reciprocated. That's what makes them each other's "person". That's what makes them a truly great ship.

And also the way they can be so vulnerable emotionally and physically together just shows truly young love. S3 had it's faults but i do love ep 7 and 8 cause it shows how much they have matured over these past seasons cause of eachother

The only reason why I kinda like Maeve more than Ruby is because of all the scenes where Otis is making her smile and she's trying to suppress it, and failing miserably. Those tiny smiles...have come a long way.

After rewatching season 1, I realized she was also keeping the sweater under her pillow and probably sleeping with it awww. I think it's an important detail because it speaks out that Maeve feeling for Otis much more than they showed us.

With all of Maeve's talk about living her life alone and all the nihilistic stuff, I hope they just give her the happy ending of being with Otis, if and when the show ends. I think it would it would be a nice character arc for her especially, for her to get her happy ending. I also hope we get to see it and not end on it, or both, that would be nice.

I agree so much with your description. its really great to see people think the same. and know that Otis and Maeve are the heart of sex ed. and always will be. their bound is something so so special and beautiful, bringing out the best in each other. when they are together its so clear that they are meant for each other. that's why I watched this show and why I love it so much. you've captured that beautifully with this edit, extremely well. Hey MaevexOtis shipper here, but I also am okay with Ruby and Otis. I believe Maeve and Otis are meant to be, but I like to think that Otis had to be with Ruby to see what he truly wanted-which was to be with Maeve. The writers try their best to show real life and though we all want Maeve and Otis to FINALLY ride off into the sunset, I guess in reality, Otis wouldn't just wait forever. Like Jean said, he needed to try different relationships and that's how he saw that he wanted something meaningful (aka with Maeve) but yeah a lot of people aren't fans of the will they/won't they and I guess they just found some thrill in a change since we know Motis forever. But yeah that's all, Motis forever, hope I could explain that in an okay way?

Another problem is that if the Writers see that people are actually loving to see Otis and Ruby then they will change/write script accordingly & THAT'S NOT HOW WE WANT IT TO END.

I dont know but the whole 3 seasons of romance of otis and maeve were totally erased by a single episode of Otis and Ruby.
@@valcyrilestrada Love develops slowly. And there were twists and turns in their relationship. Jackson, Ola, Issac, Ruby, all came as hurdles between them. Ruby is actually like Jackson for maeve. Maeve refused to say I love you Jackson, So did Otis. BC they love each other. People just want to see Mimi, not Ruby. Ruby and Adam both deserve a lovely ending with different people.
Unfortunately for the story, the actual on-screen chemistry between Ruby and Otis was dynamite. What did Otis get in the end with Maeve? A hug and a peck on the cheek. The fireworks were not there and I'm alright with that. Maeve story arc is basically over. She has improved her circumstances taken an incredible opportunity in America. As Aimee says, he's just a boy. Bringing her back to be her old self would be fan service. Otis now needs to move on.
By reading the title of the series I thought it was just a comedy series but after watching it I realised how emotional it is🥺

Holy shit!! The editing was absolutely fenomenal! I never actually shed any tears watching the series but you made me shed some by watching this masterpiece of yours, you captured the perfect moments and emotions between Otis and Maeve and it was just truly an amazing experience! Such an amazing video! I'm so so soooo touched by it. And you really did capture their relationship perfectly and I wholeheartedly agree with the caption. I was blown away by the many Otis and Ruby videos in my recommended, like wow, really?
I mean, Ruby and Otis were cute, and I can see why people like them, and they could work because they grew a lot too, but, Otis was still in love with Maeve during their relationship. I love that Ruby went out of her shell for Otis, accepting him, going on a double date, and introducing him to her Dad. But like what Jakob said, "people deserve your whole heart" and Otis just can't give that to Ruby.
As for Maeve and Isaac, I didn't like them, but that's probably because of what Isaac did, deleting the voicemail. And yes, he did redeem himself for telling her eventually but, it wasn't enough for me to make me like them as a couple. Yeah, he was there for Maeve but, had he not done what he did, I doubt they'd be that close.
I can't even begin to say how happy I am when Maeve finally asked Otis about the voicemail. They've always had this wrong timing thing, like nothing always goes their way, so like when they've kissed, it was so satisfying, cause it was everything they both ever wanted. And even though Maeve was with Isaac and knew that she shouldn't be kissing Otis, she couldn't fully pull away either and they just kept going until the bus came.
Anyway, idk what my point here is... haha.. I just wanted to say that your vid and editing was perfect and I ended up writing this.....

Ruby and Otis was good while it last but it lacks the spark that M and O bring to us. For me and probably a lot of you guys here these 2 are meant for each other. SS3 has a open and bittersweet ending, maybe giving us a hint about Emma Mackey's departure but I sincerely hope that's not true and we'll get to see Maeve again in SS4, coming back from America after 2 or 3 episodes about her life outside of England and forming a relationship with Otis and that will be endgame for them!

I guess writers wanted to make room for other interesting stories of personal development in season 3, like Adam and his father's, Jakob and Ola's, Cal and Jackson's, Viv, Lily... So many things to tell in just eight hours! But we need more "Clinic adventures" like that on S01E05 (without Eric getting beaten).
Here after S4 :( Can't believe they let go this perfect of a couple and didn't give a happy ending to either of these main 2 characters.
It was a realistic, mature ending. Meave had to go to persue her future, Otis would have never been okay with holding her back.
