Chinese epic Western. Watching this while listening to some Randy Houser, Kix Brooks, and Chris Stapleton. This is a classic western storyline, drovers, a ruthless rancher who has taken over the town, a corrupt lawman, and intertwined with the politics of WWII.
China has had a very robust Wild West history just like the United States and Australia. This movie is China's equivalent of our "Open Range" starring Robert Duvall.
While the United States is the birthplace of the Western genre, countries like China, Australia, and Canada has also had a period of time when the forces of modernization and traditionalism clashed, westward expansion met aboriginal inhabitants some who were reluctant to live under the laws of the settlers, and wide open frontiers provided the perfect home for rugged freedom loving outliers, fugitives from the law, and businessmen looking to make it rich quick in the boomtowns. All of these provide for great Western story plots.
CATTLEMAN'S GUN, by Dean Brody: "He rode into town one dust storm, sheepskin cloak across his back, A preacher man with kind old eyes and a mystery for a past He said he'd come to teach about the love of God, But he soon learned what they were missin' there was justice and the law, There was a cattleman who claimed his clan, owned all the land around, And any brave fool that might dispute, he was quick to snuff 'em out, He'd say, "Take my heed And you won't pay the price. 'Cause honor and a name ain't worth a damn, if you don't have your life" 'Cause ain't nobody faster than this cattleman's gun I'm a rattlesnake on the trigger Your last stand will be lyin' in the sand Fallin' to the slam of my hammer... So one man taught forgiveness, While the other taught suffering, Preacher said deliverance could be found out on their knees, He'd say, "I know that you want justice and you want blood But believe me when I say to you, don't try and be that man's judge"... One day a young farmer brought his sons to town for feed, And he noticed that the streets were quiet and he knew what that might mean, The smoke rose in the distance, his farm burned to the ground, He let the fury overtake him when the cattleman came back to town, Well, his boys ran out from behind the crowd and watched their daddy die, The big man laughed and said, "Now look at that, anybody else wanna give it a try?" Well, the church doors opened with that black cloak flowin' Behind the preacher's fiery eyes, He said, "Your ticket to Hell is a-comin' to you and I got a hollow-point to give you the ride, And the only thing faster than the cattleman's gun Was the preacher man's hand and finger, He pulled iron from his side and let that bullet fly and beat the rattlesnake to the hammer, While preacher embraced forgiveness, Oh, they finally understood, Under that sheepskin cloak of his was a history of blood"... This awesome movie fits those lyrics well. And it is also very similar to the storyline of "Open Range".

这就是走私集团和海关缉私队之间的斗争。风景，摄影，编剧，导演，演员都是一流的。但是我有些地方没看懂。在沙漠里这些缉私队的怎么都穿黑色衣服呢，不是应该像阿拉伯人在沙漠里穿那种白袍子才能遮风防晒吗。另外马匹能在沙漠里经受长时间奔跑吗。最主要的是盛世才当时已经归降国民党中央政府了。怎么会阻拦前往甘肃的货物呢。无非就是多收一些关税罢了。
