Great video!!👍 A tip for skim boarding start when the water is going out!! The thinner the water the better it slides!! It will slide on just wet sand but that is not ideal!!
Quick tip:You are supposed to apply three or more layers of fiber glass to the bottom since it's a skimboard. If it were a surfboard, You would apply two layers top, and one layer bottom. Skimboards need extra layers on the bottom as protection against the sand.
Couple things: puddy fill the holes and cracks AFTER the water soak/bending and drying. Puddy may soften when wetting.. AND There’s no fiberglass. You used only Resin. That’s not fiberglass.. Fiberglass would be cut just big enough to cover the deck and roll over the rails. Then resin would be poured onto the fiberglass and then squeegee flat. Let dry/harden. Repeat for other side. Lastly add one more layer of Resin to coverup the texture of the fiberglass Then sand and polish ...
from my short research, skimboards are either foam core+fiberglass/carbon fiber or wood+varnish/sealers. I personally wouldn't use fiberglass if I already used wood as that seems too heavy already.
Good shit just make sure to put the glass against bare wood next time. Fiberglass doesn't stick very well to paint, so next time do wood -> glass -> primer -> paint -> clear. It makes the glass stick way better.
Was your board heavy? I used fiberglass resin and mat, with one sheet on top and two on bottom, spreading resin before laying the mat and after laying the mat. My board is so heavt i fear im going to have to sand it down as much as possible. Which is an incredibly slow process
well I only used the resin because I knew that the board was going to be heavy already so I was trying to cut the weight of it down, but I should have used the matting because the fiberglass shattered and cracked on the bottom. And even tho the board was heavy it still worked perfectly, I felt.
Dude, sweet vid! Particularly that shot of your board weighted at the bottom of your pool! You captured something amazing there - it looks like another galaxy! I just order a pro-model and am dying - literally, this thing might kill me - to receive it in the mail. Hope you are well! Stay psyched and Fully Nuking! #FaceplantDan
hey Gopher Gang, i'm not trying to be an ass i'm genuinely trying to help when i say that adding a coat of resin only seals the wood, it doesn't make it stronger. To also strengthen the board you need to add fiberglass matting with each layer. Otherwise maybe change the title. Also note that the base coat of resin will not properly soak into the wood if you paint the surface of the board, just something to keep in mind for others aswell
But.. he never actually used fiberglass...
It liquid fiber glass
@@lonnlyfav1951 fiberglass resin isn't fiber glass, just google it. Its literally in the name, FIBERglass
yeah, it has to have fibers before you can call it fiberglass... lmao
@@KimmyR3 it also has to not be a wooden board to be a fiberglass board kind of in the name fiber glass board
"No fiberglass was harmed in the makings of this video"
The resin and hardener do not combine to form fiberglass. You have made a resin coated wooden skimboard. No fiberglass in this video.
Why didnt you layer fiberglass mats? You only used the resin?

Try to count how many times he said "You're gonna wanna".
wooden fiberglass skimboard? then whats the need for fiberglass
to help stop it from warping, it also just adds another surface i guess.
u do this on surfboards as well, to stop water getting to the foam

You did AWESOME JOB! LOVE THE DESIGN On BOARD, Thanks for Sharing !!
Next board I suggest that you do a balsa layered core and buy some fiberglass sheets

can you wakesurf/wakeskim with a build like this? i’ve seen some with foam and fiberglass but would wood do good?
What is the fiberglass mix/resin called ? Where do i buy and for how much?
Hey I was just wondering where did you get the foot “mat” that you put on the back of the board? Thanks

how long did it take you too make this

How mutch dose it whey?
Nice job dude!
Could I put rocker in it?
It's not a fiberglass skimboard... You know?
what kind of paint did you use
He doesn't have a bathtub but he has a pool
That is wood and resin my guy.
This was a great video
great Engling in the title.
Engling ?!?!?!?!?
Fiber glass with no fiber fabric used🤔
This is an epoxy resin coated ply board skim board. Not a glass fibre in sight!
Where is fiberglass? Please change the name of your video.
You are awesome
i dont get it, like fiberglass skimboard made of wood? WTF?
NIce!!
yeah
Nice grammer
Fiberglass??
No Fiberglass, but its okay
You are not meant to soak the whole board
Make it wooden with the help of the woodglut instructions.
This is A SCAM
