  • This is the second half a fly fishing trip where I took my float tube to several lakes. The action was slow at first, but I ended up getting into some fat brook trout.

    That second lake can be skunky too, so I'm glad it worked out.

      Thanks Jon. It's definitely time consuming as far as editing goes. I recently built a new computer that is quite a bit faster, but it still takes a good chunk of time.

    How long do you go without catching a fish before you change things up? When you decide to change what are the first few things you change?

    • @TroutHowler
      @TroutHowler  Рік тому

      I have my go to patterns that I typically start out with unless there's an obvious hatch going on. I don't change too often unless I can actually see fish denying certain patterns. If it's really slow i'll pump the stomach of one--assuming I catch one and change up accordingly.

    Hey have you had any Brook trout over 5 pounds on the Wollybugger?

    • @TroutHowler
      @TroutHowler  11 місяців тому

      I did catch a 5 lb brook years ago stripping in a big leech which is essentially a wooly bugger. Most of my bigger brooks have been caught on scuds and micro leeches though

    Awesome brooks! I noticed you’ve been using those gloves for a bit now would you recommend them to others and if you would what brand are they?

    • @TroutHowler
      @TroutHowler  Рік тому +1

      I got gloves on amazon. The brand is "Extremely Cool" They are no longer available unfortunately. They are basically just sun gloves made out of synthetics which is a bonus. Gloves made out of organics like cotton can have a negative effect on the fish. Gloves made out polymers typically don't harm the fish like organics do.

    Hey so I’m very lucky to have a lake full of 5+ pounder Brook trout I’ve only got lucky with spoons with them but what do you think the best fly is for those big guys?

    • @TroutHowler
      @TroutHowler  10 місяців тому

      It depends on the time of year and the area. There is no one magical pattern that will always get the eats. The closest thing to a magical pattern that works most of the time for me is a micro balanced leech tied in either Canadian Black or Bruised (black and blue)
