I've put MT-03 Akrapovic on my MT-01 and these are de-cated and no baffle straight through pipe. No issues with the bike running lean or rich. There isn't any tuning required even if you take the cans off completely.
Thanks for answering! I'm going to do Your mod next week. It seems to be the ideal cure for me. Have been fooling around with several silencers, but as You quite rightly say: Too much hassle fiddling around with the power commander and I still don't get the performance as with the original cans. I just wanna make some noise. Liked Your comparison with the old Spitfires :)
Good job :-) I did this to my MT-01 about 10 years ago, although I gutted the mufflers & ran an inch & eighth perforated tube with wadding instead. I also used oxy-acetylene to cut round the end pipe. Good tip on just grinding the muffler end welds off. I removed the cats, BTW bikes aren't subject to emission tests on the MOT ;-)
Dan I didn't realise until after posting that you're in Australia lol. Yeah still got my MT-01 ten years on, I bought it at a year old as a 40th birthday present to myself. Turned 50 the other week & the the same as you, nothing else appeals so she's a keeper :-)
@@biker_dan "Fuel saving" you say? How much do you reckon it improved the MPG? I'm currently looking at getting a pair of silencers for mine that have had similar work done to them (I can keep my originals in case they're just too loud). Thanks bro
Hey. I did the same, thanks. But there was one problem, I had to use TIG welding, because the silencer made of titanium is not welding with the usual semi-automatic
Thank You very much for the video and the nice scottish accent! Sounds like Glasgow? Say, why do You have to separate the inner and outer can with the wadding at all? As far as I understand it, You just want to shorten the biggest of the 4 tubes in the end piece You cut off before in step one? Sorry if I missed something. :-)
Finally showed the ghastly little b......s who's boss. Got the end piece off and cut off main pipe. How You did all this in Your garden shed I do not know. Lots of respect!
@@biker_dan that's what i liked with Your approach, the punky attitude: Hey Ho, Let's Go! It's dead easy to have Your mummy buy You a pair of Akras, but not half the fun :)

Thank you for sharing.
Wow, lot of work. Fun to watch. I have mine 100 % original though and wouldn't want it any other way.

These Yamaha rivets are sure some tough little buggers, I must say.
8:20 "if you take your cat out your bike won't pass the emissions test"
Motorcycles do not have emissions tests in the UK.

Fantastic Danny!
Hi, I'm from Russia. Thank you for the good videos. Very little such content on MT-01 in the Internet. Where they ordered a windscreen?
I'm grinding for hours now -at least so it seems- but I can't see where the muffler end piece and the outer pipe mantling separate? (5:00 min on)
Is it englisch ?..
pretty hard to understand
