Flying a Medevac / Supply Hughes 269 piston helicopter around the small islands in the Philippines

- In May 2010 I had the opportunity to join a small construction team to go from the United States over to the Philippines to complete the finishing touches on a new medical clinic nestled up in the mountains of Kemantian.
The Hughes 269-A that will hopefully be upgraded with an R44 in the near future is being utilized for Medical, Cargo, and personnel transport. Most of the flights are pushing the aircrafts limits, allowing only minimal fuel so as not to overload the aircraft.
Hey Im a Helicopter pilot too and 7 day Adventist too ,God bless you what you doing
looks just like the S300 i learned to fly on great vid man awesome that you are using your talents to help others.
Thanks for sharing this. God bless the program there!
Fantastic piloting ! Congrats, fly safe !!!
really cool video, Michael. I love those small helicopters like the Hughes 269 or R22.
Wonderful piloting. I always enjoy your videos Michael.
Cool vid.
I live in the Philippines, but I've only been to Palawan once. Snorkeling was pretty awesome :D
Dude, that's a hell of a landing at 4:06!
5:15, that start up sound. Sounds different to other 269's.
Congrats !! Nice chopper and great pilot !!. How high are the mountains or the landing area?. Beautiful to watch how the Hughes/Schweizer 300C works with heavy !!. How much weight do you charge on it at the evacuation people?. You did with somebody at the litter + pilot + and 1 passenger?.
Wow great ! Amazing
I love how aggressive his takeoffs are... fun to watch. :-D
this pilot got skills like a pickle got dills
He use to fly with the US Army National guard.
@@bluemarshall6180 Aha that explains s lot.
I met a man from a small village, who at the age of 40 thought America was in the sky. Because the Americans always flew in and out using helicopters. I realized all of us have some known idea that is probably nowhere near reality. (be it physics or chemistry etc.)
The Hugh's 269 is such a little work horse.
Need someone to lace those windshield cracks? Excellent footage.
He really likes that take off style - me too!
looks like fun I would love to fly a copter
He's flying it like a Vietnam combat pilot. Trauma helicopters pilots in Holland are flying like granny's!!
Nice flying skillz
Any word on the R44? You're going to love it. Nice flying and Be Safe
u are a great pilot
dk.
3 people on a Hughes 269A? How does it performs???
I agree, this is "agressive" flying- but confident.
For interest sakes, why a H269 and not a R44? Same operating cost MPI to MPI but faster and could carry more.
In the past 3 to 4 years they have upgraded to an R44.
hi do you require fixed wing pilots?
Why are you flying from the right hand seat? H269 is always flown from LH seat.
I always flew from the right, where is it written that you must fly from the left?
@@LONGIRAFFE Standard PIC seat is LH side in H269 and H369. You need a RH seat endorsement normally. Just like R22/44 are frown from RH seat unless you have a LH seat endorsement.
Roger Onslow No Robinson can be flown from the left seat if solo. It is a CoG limitation
@@rogeronslow1498 look where the gas tank is, it's all cg.
holy overspeed @5:13
Yeh. I also noticed. Sometimes difficult to avoid. Can damage upper sheeve bearing from what I remember.
The guy sure knows how to handle the aircraft - just strap it on and let's go....
Well, I actually never was a pilot here, but went there to visit with my wife's mission project there. This helicopter mission service actually no longer services this area. There helicopter is out of service unfortunately.
Sounds like they need another helicopter service there.
Reckless flying!!!!! How on earth 'Dwayne' has not managed to end up in pieces I really do not know!! If you used a SAFE departure procedure it might look very uninteresting, but he'd have twice the chance of getting the helicopter back on the ground safely than with his current style of flying.
I am not making this up, I am not just an internet nerd, I have over 1600 hours flying helicopters.
I have flown the R22, R44, B206 and the EC155B1
Dwayne, please be careful dude!!!!
Just watch out for the ladyboys
Fantastic piloting ! Congrats, fly safe !!!
Wow great ! Amazing
