- Tropical Storm Beryl is on course to reach hurricane status as soon as tonight, with winds now exceeding 50 miles per hour. Hurricane Watches are in effect for Barbados, and warnings are likely to be introduced later today. The storm's appearance continues to improve, and good conditions are likely to lead to the storm reaching Category 2 status by the time it reaches the Lesser Antilles.
Winds of 100mph and rainfall of over 6 inches (150mm) are possible on Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia, and Grenada, with a more uncertain long term forecast. However, all points from the Dominican Republic to Jamaica and Cuba should watch the progress of this storm closely.
Another hurricane could form behind Beryl early next week and take a similar track through the Lesser Antilles and into the Caribbean.
A third area of interest is currently rotating over the Yucatan Peninsula, and has a chance of becoming a tropical storm in the Bay of Campeche early next week.
An area of interest could develop off the coast of Pacific Mexico next week, narrowly averting the latest start in the satellite era in the Eastern Pacific basin.

A hurricane before July is mind bonggingly wild
yeah even close to major is crazy
2024 is crazy
Could beat Dennis' record for earliest major hurricane
There's been plenty of seasons that had the first hurricane before July, the most recent example was in 2016, Beryl is the first June ATL hurricane since 2012. It's pretty rare but it's not unheard of.
The Atlantic has seen june hurricanes plenty of times such as in 2016, 2012, 2010, 1995, 1986, 1972, 1966, 1957, and 1933. The atlantic has even seen a hurricane in may in the year 1970, a hurricane in march in 1908. Over in the eastern pacific, may and june hurricanes happen almost every year, and in the western pacific hurricanes (typhoons) regularly occur in ALL months of the year
Beryl: prepare for trouble
Chris: we'll make it double
To ruin the world with devastation, to annoy the people within the atlantic nation, to denounce the evil of no clouds above, Beryl, and Chris, The hurricanes blast off at 10+ mile per hour, (basically the speed of light!) Surrender now or prepare for floods, THATS right!
double trouble
Debby: we'll make it triple
Ernesto: WHAT?
Beryl will likely peak at category 3, but shouldn’t cost more than 1 billion hopefully 🙏
