RM said that 'Forever Rain' sums up the most RM-like song, and he wants this song to be his funeral song. BTW, I love you dog! Wow, I just found out that I am a Moon child~!

Glad the wordplay of ‘mono’ was touched upon. RM loves a bit of wordplay. Some people have dad jokes (Jin) but he has wordplay. It’s such an endearing little trait.

one more thing about the mixtape name 'mono'; RM is/was called Rap Mon and some other variations of Rap Monster so I feel 'mono' has that too in it.

I have been listening to this song almost everyday for the past 3 weeks, it's so beautiful and full of emotion. RM and Suga have some of the most relatable lyrics, at least for me. I can definitely identify myself as a moonchild. My personality type is an INFP (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving). I'm literally always daydreaming and losing myself in the world of books, movies/shows and music and often feeling whatever that person is feeling or the emotions that are being conveyed. I find it so weird that you asked this question about who identifies themselves as a moonchild today of all days because last night I was reading a book and it got to a very sad part, I could not stop crying for hours because I could empathize with the character. I had to put the book down for a bit because it got to be too much, still feeling sad from it because I started thinking about my life and what I want but have never been able to have but I will keep fighting to find it. Writing has always been a great outlet for my emotions and the way RM writes, it touches my soul. Thank you for taking the time to listen and learn about this masterpiece of an album.

I love the way he layers his music too. Amazing. 👑💜
Not only the layering, but the panning when you hear with head phones🔥

I definitely identify as as a moonchild. I see it as both a blessing and a curse because I feel things deeply but not all feelings are good ones. I love experiencing intense emotions when they are positive ones, but I also struggle with emotional pain often. RM's "Moonchild" captures these feelings so well. Mono really is a masterpiece.💜

You can see all his Kaws figures collection to the right - he has many more and J-hope loves them too... Jack in the Box cover and art all over it is Kaws. The description of Mono is how Namjoon thinks, it's more than just a word... intelligent people will either know this by listening to the lyrics or research a little to understand how he processes his thoughts. Not many people will venture into this but I do, everything has rhyme and reason to songs he writes even for BTS. I remember Jimin reflecting on and praising Namjoon for the meaningful lyrics of Zero 0'Clock so the hearer could process positively. I think this way too and forget that when expressing to others what I see or feel it's not quite understood by everyone. John, I like these kinds of breakdowns that you do for the songs. It helps us understand RM/Namjoon and ourselves. It's like, somebody put words to how I feel! Namjoon is really gifted in expressing feelings by digging out the value of the experience and putting it into a good perspective.

I personally think that moonchild is about idol life, he is talking to himself but in the idol position, and the moonchildren are the members, or anyone who can relate to the situation he describes, including other idols, perhaps
because bts/idols often have to go out at night in order not be seen or cause a lot of comotion, also the members often would also sneak out from their dorm at night when they were trainees, and they post a lot of photos hanging out together in the han River at night as well, so I would say the night gives a general sense of freedom and comfort to bts/idols, which is described through the entire song
also, more directly, RM says "we gotta dance in the rain, dance in the pain, even though we crash down, we gotta dance in the plane", and bts has to dance even when on the rain, and even when they are in physical pain, or emotional as well
RM also mentions having to smile through the pain, and he and the members have said that sometimes, even though they're feeling down, they have to put on a smile for the camera
"surely someone would be comforted by seeing your thorns", I think seeing your thorns is being opened about his struggles, and therefore it is mono itself, cuz he's opening up about his sadness in this mixtape, and he's saying that it's worth it because armys who are having a hard time would be comforted knowing he goes through that as well
I could go on and on about his song and mono as a whole, I really love it so much, it has an incredible emotional hold on me lol

RM mentioned he has left many blanks for this playlist for a reason. Torso can also be heard as torn soul, he has cleverly and intentionally left it to the listeners interpretation.

To answer your question, there are 3 mv's for Mono : Seoul, Moonchild, and Mono. These mv's are very artistic like this album. And when you know RM is becoming influent in the Art community, it's not surprising 💜

Hey John we have the same birthday Oct 2nd. I also like fall the best and would consider myself a moonchild for sure. RM first album is something I could listen to all the time it's hard and agreesive. Mono I think you have to be in certain mood it's beautiful and melancholy.

I'm a moonchild for sure: Empathy is the ability to understand and share feelings, sympathy is feeling, wearing someone else's woes through pity - which will keep you anxious and depressed...learning to empathize is much better.

Thank you for taking a deeper dive into the songs you react to than most. I've learned a lot more about RM's Mono from watching your reaction. Bookish Theories have really interesting explanations. Many ARMYs say BTS finds them when they need them ... to show them they aren't alone in this world...BTS will walk beside them (as will other ARMYs). Thank you for sharing a piece of your story with us.
A thought came up during Bookish Theories explanations..why are the rapline are the only ones to put out mixtapes? I wonder if they are songs are interconnected...especially RM & Suga's mixtapes. RM has mentioned that some of the BTS earlier songs have special meaning to him and Suga (as they were together before JHope joined them).

Hi John thank you so much for doing this reaction on Mono, I’ve only watched like 11 minutes of it but can’t wait to write a comment just to let you know how this forever rain and whole Mono playlist has hit me. Like you said it’s the masterpiece! I’m so touched someone feels the same way and what you described resonate with me, just wants you to know how much I appreciate this. Gonna continue watching the rest but let’s hope RM knows by now how his songs has impacted so many.

Yep A Major Moonchild here too...it's been really challenging but very beautiful too, carrying that part of myself all these years, but it became much easier when I realized that was how I am, why my pain felt so crippling for me, more so than life's painful things seemed to affect others. I've learned to appreciate it because I know it feeds my creativity.so much. Nowadays I make sure to nurture myself more, give myself what I need more, lidten to when I'm emotionally exhausted and when I need solitude. Expressing my feelings more, through writing more regularly, music, art, helps me get my feelings out in a connecting, constructive way and connecting with people that I try to be helpful to, that also (because I can sennse it very strongly in others) makes me see the gift in this super sensitiviity as far as other's feelings go.

Yes I definitely identify as a moonchild being recently diagnosed with hypersensitivity (or hsp). It has been a real eyeopener reading about this and realising these feeling aren't just mine but other people experience this too. So this song really hit close to home for me.

Lovely, thank you. I spent a whole quiet Sunday Morning listening to both mixtapes and loved them so much. Really, folk justifiably rave about Suga's solo work, but they sadly overlook RM who deserves much better. Suga's work is full of musical flair and energy, and his ideas are interesting, but the main feeling they convey to me are an honest rage and determination. He does show his vulnerability in them, but it's vulnerability seen from a position of strength, when the place of pain has to some extent been healed. It's raw, and painful, but it is also self-protective. RM's solo work, especially Mono, lives inside that vulnerability and shows it and shares it in a much more direct way, without an overlying glaze of strength. Showing that vulnerability, without any sense that it has been resolved, showing it as an ongoing condition which some see as weakness, but is in reality is just a fact of life, is actually very rare even among the most sensitive artists. It speaks of deep honesty and profound courage. It is, in fact, only the profoundly strong who can bear to show their weak moments.
As for am I a moon child. Afraid so. There was never any doubt. Lived on this earth for 67 years, most of it in my imagination, vivid, biting, fighting, wild, free and fierce. Feel all the stuff of the real world, and all the rage and pain it provokes, but few folk would know, because ... the moon sees, alone. At the same time ... am I the Moon Child as RM sees them? I couldn't ever dream of that. All I know is, this is where I live.
If you ever get a chance, a podcast with Bookish Theories would be outstanding!

def a moonchild. for me I have always had to close myself off, be alone have music on to make a cocoon where I can be in alone with myself, to get some quiet, some rest, to be able to hear myself.
I am extremely sensitive to others feelings, so much that I often know how they are feeling or going to say or do or react before they even figure it out themselves.
It can feel like even though it's quiet people are so loud with their feelings just by the way they move or don't move, what they say or don't say etc.

EXACTLY! I relate to so much of what you just said. It's the times when I'm alone, mostly at night, that I get to listen to what the inner me is saying and feeling. It's hard being an empath because you do know what people are feeling even when they don't speak it because they just radiant a certain energy and the way they hold themselves can always give their emotions away and that usually affects our own emotions and thoughts.

I love your puppy! (All dogs are puppies, no matter how old they are. Fight me.) I love this song, and this video is gorgeous. There are also vids for "Moonchild" and for "Seoul." I definitely consider myself a moonchild as described by Bookish Theories. I think a lot of creatives fall into that category. You mentioned that there have been times you've wanted to turn off your heart so you could avoid the pain that you were feeling... I've certainly been there, and I've been suicidal in the past. Like you, I'm glad I never went there. I think that finding BTS and their message has gone a long way toward keeping me from taking that wasteful leap.

John look up HSP, or Highly Sensitive Person. HSPs have both brain and nervous system and other differences that include things like more sensory receptors and a brain wired to feel things more deeply and intensely.
I think I, and probably you as well, fall squarely into that category. Moon child is a spiritual and psychological way to express this physiologically real variant in the human race. Many artists probably fall into this category. Their depth of feeling and empathy leads to creative expression.
I think most of BTS members are probably in this category as well. Certainly all the rap line are.

it's interesting that bookish theories sees a positive perspective in most of mono's songs, while I personally think that all of them are pretty pessimistic, except everythingoes
I think so because for me mono is like a diary, it's not really about who is listening, cuz he's talking to himself most of the time, so there's no need to have a happy ending, in a sense, it's just an honest display of how he feels and there's no "lesson" being taught, like in the love yourself series, he's just saying things as he sees and feels them
idk, maybe it's personality thing, I tend to be more pessimistic, but I don't see the positive side in any other songs other than everythingoes, which is like a shift in perspective, and a very different song than the rest of the album, musically and lyrically, he says that even though he feels everything that he's described, it will all pass like all winds do
