  • Had a steady coolant and engine oil leak. Until the egr coolant hose broke.
Changing all the gaskets on the egr assembly took me about 20h. I’m not a car mechanic so a professional could do it faster. Cleaning took me a long time.
First step is to let the coolant out. I disconnected the coolant line from the gearbox cooler. It’s under the car, next to the radiator.
Sorry I didn’t get the moment on tape when I took the assembly out.
Also did not film the removal/install of two brackets in the back of the egr assembly. One is between the assembly and the engine block. The other is between the exhaust tube and the egr.
A big mistake I made was a egr tube that goes to the intake manifold. When I installed the assembly I forgot to attach the egr tube to the assembly. Doing that on the car with egr assembly already inside the engine was a pain in the butt.
Also I removed right side fuel rail to get the assembly out.
I also installed new thermostat assembly. Not sure if you have to remove it to get the egr unit out.
You definitely HAVE to change the engine oil after this job. Removing the egr assembly will let a big amount of coolant in to the engine.
Overall not a easy job but doable. Local garage price quote was about 750-800€ only labor. Parts were about 600€. Nice save for a weekends job.
