Something I forgot to mention, this is why I love Brony musicians. It wasn't before they came into being that I realized that fan songs could become popular. They literally opened the doors to other fandoms to make their music. so even though so dummy dum dums AUTOMATICALLY assumed this was about ponies, it was about something else entirely.
I've been practicing my mic techniques, and really working to get the best and clearest vocal sounds, since they've easily been my biggest hurdle. Hopefully that comes through on my future, non-collaborative stuff xD
I'm sitting on a much heavier version that definitely takes inspiration from BB and other similar post-grunge and metal acts, hopefully I can get that out soon!
You know how if you listen to a song over and over again you eventually hate it? I've been listening to this for a long time and I still love it. Great job on this song!
You know. For the past 9 years of living to this song. Iv always thought this song was about Shining Armor's perspective of being both a brother and a soldier. I listened to this song just yesterday, immediately after listening to Lullaby for a Princess, and realized that this song is about Princess Luna's banishment. The verses being about Celestia's perspective of her sister coming home. The lyrical bridge is in the Perspective of Princess Luna, about how she felt being on the Moon for so long. Dang how my understanding of this song changed, because of the way my phone decided to shuffle its music. This song gets a 9.5/10 and i classify it a masterpiece for both its emotion and cool factor. Along with it being a collaborative piece
It can be interpreted to refer to those things - or indeed, to ANY situation in which someone feels strongly about a "lonely little waif" that they're doing their best to "keep safe." It can even be seen as a representation of one's own "adult self" trying to protect a hurting inner child. I've certainly had many deep feels from listening to it with this interpretation! That said, I believe the song is originally based on the video game Bioshock, from the perspective of a Big Daddy (a genetically modified human whose brain and organs have been grafted into an armored diving suit). "Little Sisters" are NPC's that Big Daddies are basically brainwashed into (violently) protecting. The game takes place in a high-tech underwater city - hence the lines "we're all submerged in tragedy" and "fatal tides below" and references to "the world above" (the surface). It also explains all the ominous references to "what I used to be" (i.e. a normal human being), "evolution takes its toll / fighting for my very soul" (because of the genetic modifications that resulted in the Big Daddy becoming what it is), and "take my memories away" (due to the brainwashing). That said, the song has a LOT of depth (no pun intended) and does a stellar job communicating emotions, and I certainly wouldn't want to dissuade you from applying it to other things that you think it fits - as I have myself!
Reminds me of the Poets of the Fall. Especially the song "War" at one moment. Great track. The fact that this is Bioshock inspired makes it even better.
TarbyRocks Wait, you've never heard of POTF before? You've never played Alan Wake (their songs in it: Happy Song, Children Of The Elder God, Balance Slays The Demon, The Poet And The Muse, War) or Max Payne 2 (their song is the credits song: Late Goodbye)?
LapnLook I haven't played many mainstream video games :/ Bioshock and portal are pmuch it, aside from a few zelda and pokemon titles for the game boy/GBA >.> I'm definitely going to check these guys out, tho - if War's anything to go by, then POTF are hella up my alley~ Thank you!
AW and MP2 aren't that mainstream, and actually the music video to War is based on the former. In alan wake they had an alias Old Gods Of Asgard, check out those songs too. also, their new album is coming out this month
Wait, Avi did the art for this?! Is there anything that guy can't do? Wow, anyhow, this song is absolutely brilliant, I've been listening to it non stop today.
Not exactly. Usually, he just picks an image from google and slightly modifies it in photoshop, and adds text. You can find this one if you google "underwater cities".
You probably won't see this, Tarby, but this song has inspired me. I love it! I hope you never stop, you and Aviators are great! You just earned yourself another subscriber :3
Been waiting for this since I saw the title (_Find You_ back then) in one of your setlists. This is absolutely incredible!! Great sound. Well done, you two!
Was absolutely great seeing you at Bronycon both this year and last year, can't wait to see you around again! This song, by the way, KILLS! Wicked stuff! You and Aviators work so well together!
WHOA!!! You guys *NAILED IT* 0_o Ever since nightmare moon came out I knew you two would do wonders together. And this 100% confirms it. Love the musical evolution of the song, from piano to guitar to that *fantastic* guitar-synth solo!! Also the great vocals. Thank you so much guys 8D this is too awesome
Oh god, this is great! I had no idea the two of you were doing collabs. Whatever else you two have planned is going to be amazing, I'm sure of it. Subscribed in a heartbeat!
I saw the title and thought it might be a cover of the song by the same name by Miracle of Sound. Pleasant surprise to find it's an original collab between these awesome guys!
Yes! Someone finally captured how freaking sad Bioshock really is. I mean, people seem to forget the tragedies that go beyond the Little Sisters. Like the fact that the Splicers were sane at one time, and were mostly innocent. And the main protagonist... I don't think I need to say more about him, his is pretty self explanatory. And the Big Daddies, yeah, still self explanatory. The game is sad. Is what I mean. It was even sad before Infinite, really.
Bioshock (1 specifically, but 2 and 3 as well) has an insanely fantastic mythos behind it. I've written a few other songs inspired by it - most aren't out, but my song "Nothing" is from the point of view of a splicer in their descent from humanity, and i've got a hella proggy tune in the works inspired by infinite
This song is super awesome, really can't wait for your album to come out, you seem to have stellar production value, and the demo stuff you showed me couple months ago in combination with this only has me more hyped (I'm one of the guys from Your OC Sucks, in case you don't remember me XD) P.S. We really need more prog in this fandom
Honestly, at this point I am intimidated by your music. Every time I listen to a new piece of yours I get hooked on it and i cant stop playing it on repeat for days on end. They also make me feel all them feels, even if I am not yet sure what this song is about. In short, GJ, you always manage to inspire me to push myself forward in life.
The intro sounds like Lullaby for a Dead Man by Elena Siegman...WaW FTW! Great song, I enjoyed Bioshock Infinite, except I don't see the whole rave about it...It was a game I enjoyed, I probably might play it again, maybe not...Idk. Great song and I hope to hear more!
I've never actually played Infinite - Only 1 and about half of 2, and this was almost entirely inspired by one, though since the release a lot of people have told me it sounds a lot like something written about either 2 or infinite haha. Thank you!!!!
I LOVED number 2 it is one of my favorites even today. but in that face bioshock infanate had made me lose hope for the series. honestly it had lost the whole aspect that I loved about 1 and 2. how in 1 and 2 you actually see the meaningful effects you see rapture go to hell. in infanate you just skip throughout time like ity is nothing, the thing that made 1 and 2 so amazing is it litterally showed you the past of everything throught little hints and in infanate it just gives you a level and sais THIS IS A BIOSHOCK GAME LOVE IT NOW NOWNOWNOW. I really thing they should revisit rapture... like in a non DLC more like an accually game like Bishock 4 The Return Of Rapture or something. where it makes you go from infanate to 1 through time and you witness key events that the other main characters never had
possibly where you are Andrew Ryan and Elisabeth visits you and showes you what rapture will become and what chain reaction it will cause that will start more versions of rapture that will soon become columbia and then that whole thing leads him into a version of rapture where comstock owns rature...... that would be really really wird... 0.0
i sense some bioshock in this, when i first saw the image i was like theres no ways there is not a connection then read the lyrics and it was clear it had a connection.
+Junior Researcher Kix Heyhey, thank you so much! We actually just put out a new collab, too - the title track from his most recent album. It's a bit different, with him on primary vocals this time, and we split guitar duty as well, but it still was fun and pretty interesting~
00:12 Those weird piano cuts :-/ Now wait for it... BRILLIANT! I love it! My favourite part starts at the second refrain... beautiful! Wait, this isn't pony but Bioshock? Why the hell didn't I play Bioshock then? How is it possible that I thought the text was perfect for Celestia thinking about her actions towards her little sister? Still, it is wonderful Also, I am proud you will collab with the Aviators. Hope you all the best. And I am also happy that you are almost done with Everfree, can't wait to listen to it. I honestly don't even know what to expect from it.
it's funny, after reading this comment, i looked up the music and have since fell in love with Cryoshell. Got a cover of Bye Bye Babylon in the works now, so thank you haha
EveIrkens Bioshock 1 definitely has the best story of all the Bioshocks, but I think Bioshock 2 has the best gameplay, allowing you to use plasmids and guns at the same time.

After all, why did Celestia risk the fate of the world on a gambit at the series start? _Because she was burned out and wanted her sister back enough to risk every living thing on the planet_. Because a millennium of ruling had led her to conclude they didn't "deserve" the peace and prosperity she had sacrificed so much for...so she was going to get her sister back, whatever the cost...or die trying. (Her anger is at the duty which compels her to serve the foolish, ignorant ponies whose needs keep her from questing to find a shortcut to Luna's exile, and her displaced anger at them for driving her sister to despair with their ingratitude for her night.) We all make choices.
And sometimes...
Our choices... make... *us.*
***** Yup! ^_^ How you doin'?
***** Can't complain.
Is this a quote from someone or something?
TheGlazedProductions Andrew Ryan from Bioshock, which this song is inspired by.
Idk what, but there is just something about Brony musicians, they make better music than most if not all of the mainstream musicians.
My...my two fav musicians have done a collab on one of my fav games.....*dies happy*
Your vocals are so clear in this one, Tarby. Sounds fantastic.
I've been practicing my mic techniques, and really working to get the best and clearest vocal sounds, since they've easily been my biggest hurdle. Hopefully that comes through on my future, non-collaborative stuff xD
First time today I heard this Song ... And It Was Right In Time
In A way ..For Me
I just want to press replay Again Thank U For Your Music
that chorus gives me breaking benjamin vibes, which make the song all the more awesome
I'm sitting on a much heavier version that definitely takes inspiration from BB and other similar post-grunge and metal acts, hopefully I can get that out soon!
Nice, I'll be sure to keep an eye out.
It sounds like my feels.
it sounds like ur ass
This song is an absolute gem. I'm so glad I accidentally came across it.
This has got a Bioshock 2 vibe specifically

Yay, new Tarby song, and featuring Aviators makes it even better!

Not exactly. Usually, he just picks an image from google and slightly modifies it in photoshop, and adds text.

You probably won't see this, Tarby, but this song has inspired me. I love it! I hope you never stop, you and Aviators are great! You just earned yourself another subscriber :3
aaaaaaaaaaaa thank you! That means a lot xD

12/10! Thanks avi for introducing me to this amazing musician, and tarby, you rock! Never stop!
Time heals, Time kills. It's wrath and wake continues endlessly. Neverending, and new generation comes, and then it goes. Don't cry, sister.
WHOA!!!
You guys *NAILED IT* 0_o
Ever since nightmare moon came out I knew you two would do wonders together.
And this 100% confirms it.
Love the musical evolution of the song, from piano to guitar to that *fantastic* guitar-synth solo!!
Also the great vocals.
Thank you so much guys 8D this is too awesome
jaws
So cool you two just created this casually while hanging out. Love when talented people create together! Nice work.
Killer track. Really digging how the rock and electronic elements play off each other.
Dang, this is even better than I thought it would be. Rock on, you two! Amazing job!
I hear so much of "Jaws" in this. XD Avi probably used this as inspiration for it. Cool song either way! :D
wow, just found this great song. Awesome work!
HOLY CRAP ITS FREE
I was thinking this was for sure going to be a purchase one. Really, really, really good job
Why am I not subbed to you, Tarby? I shock myself at my stupidity. Well, at least it's an easy fix. =P
I have been looking forward to this moment
I was not disappointed
Oh god, this is great!
I had no idea the two of you were doing collabs. Whatever else you two have planned is going to be amazing, I'm sure of it.

amazing it realy captures the essence of the game
This song is incredible.

Soooooo Awesome
I heard it 5 years ago, liked it and now I want to say. Nice song, good job!
this song is amazin. excelent work
Oooh, nice. Can't wait for the album :D
Beautifully done! This makes me think of Bioshock! :D
this song got a bionicle feel to it. 10/10 guys give me good nostalgia
I have to say, I like the glitchy piano at the beginning. Was that intentional?
i don't believe so, but it sounded kinda cool so we kept it in there. glad other people agree!
Yay, you're back! :D
I finished Bioshock: infinite "Burial At Sea 2" yesterday and now you've made a song about it. What a coincidence!
The intro sounds like Lullaby for a Dead Man by Elena Siegman...WaW FTW!

I've been waiting on this
Chills.
1k likes to 2 dislikes.....this might be a record from dislike to like
I was listening to this song when my lizard died... I listen to it a lot more now...
I love it
Found your channel from Aviators, stayed for the awesomeness. /OuO/
+Junior Researcher Kix Heyhey, thank you so much! We actually just put out a new collab, too - the title track from his most recent album. It's a bit different, with him on primary vocals this time, and we split guitar duty as well, but it still was fun and pretty interesting~
How....
How had I not found him yet?
Great work! :D I love prog rock a lot!
Gosh, I love dis.

Now wait for it...
BRILLIANT! I love it!

Lovely
Awesome.
AYYY THIS IS SWEET.
This sounds pretty sweet.
It's very good how you made it is very awesome
Beautiful track :)
Awesome!
Truly amazing... :D
Bioshock!!! Best game series ever.
Or at least one of the best.
I like the voice mixes both if you had.
This is a great song.
Wow guys, nuff said.
Amazing.
this reminds me of BioShock 2... is it a reference is it?
This is really good
this sounds like a bionicle song, very good
it's funny, after reading this comment, i looked up the music and have since fell in love with Cryoshell. Got a cover of Bye Bye Babylon in the works now, so thank you haha
Holy shit Y E S
This makes me want to play Bioshock!
And I don't even play Bioshock!
Do it! You don't have to play 2 or Infinite, JUST PLAY 1. It is up there on best games ever made, I swear.
EveIrkens Bioshock 1 definitely has the best story of all the Bioshocks, but I think Bioshock 2 has the best gameplay, allowing you to use plasmids and guns at the same time.
AMAZING
Heyhey, thank you!!
im not a big fan of rock but this song i love
julian hicks Not fan of rock? Huh, now look at that. End of the world is coming after all
en momentos como este, me gustaría saber mas el ingles, porque esta canción esta genial
Korn and other stuff but the result something quite different.
Do you and Avi have anything planned for future collabs? I love your songs together, I can't decide which one is my favourite... It might be this or Acid Rain. Although From Oceans to Skies is amazing😅
Liam Cahill ayyyu glad you liked them all! And nothing is being discussed currently, but as far as I'm aware were both open to the possibility, and I'd absolutely be down to do more on the future
@@TarbyRocks was a shame about the Dark Star falling through because of tech issues. Hope all is good ❤️
Aviators brought me here.
I suppose that this song talks about Princess Luna, Right?
Well, is an extremely good song. I love it :3

Bioshock.

ganondorfchampin Oh. I would thing htat'd be a Celestia song.
Oh well, I guess that's just me.
Tarby, is there an instrumental for this song out yet?
Beach Ball Aviators did the final mix, and i'm not sure if he did an instrumental version or not, but one of us can ask him and at least see if he can whip one up.
Thanks!
k fam
Would you ever be willing to put this song on iTunes?
itd be up to aviators, we both agreed to put it out for free since splitting profits was dicks
maybe though, I'll run it by him tonight
The chorus just screams Burial at sea 1. Well, the reveal at the end, anyway.
This song seems more like it’s about Bioshock...Am I the only one that thinks that?
take my bodyyyyy
is this related to bioshock?
according to aviators it is!
Yup! Was inspired by the end of 1 and much of 2
ganondorfchampin Luna and Celestia living in Rapture :D
LapnLook That probably wouldn't work out for the Splicers then! Also I want to see that as a fanfic.
I won't write it that's for sure :D
It took me 2:19 to figure out this was a bishock song
-enter facepalm here-
Yes, it more clearly fits Bioshock. But if you're taking a darker read on Equestria, it fits Celestia and Luna. Wait, is this and MLP song? I thought it was BioShock.
It is about bioshock haha, it's directly inspired by the first game
See, that's what I though, but it said in the description it was voted for an MLP song list so I was like "Wait what?"
Yeee I'm not sure why it was voted in, but hey I'm glad people enjoyed it enough to do that haha
This kinda sounds like Bioshock... o.e
zack walton ha.
Now that you mention it... 0-0
There is a Bioshock song with the same title.
