The Ukrainian coloured stage reminds me of the devastated cities of Ukraine. This marvelous music sounds to me some sort of offering or hommage to the victims of that country, just as the composer wrote it as a condolence to the people of Dresden killed by the air raid.
It could be Zoran Marković’s tailpiece or similar inventions. There’s an article in The Strad on those. Sound improvements are rarely audible for the audience but often more for comfort and playability, easier response, etc., the idea is, especially for violas, to increase the string length behind the bridge and make it even adjustable.
The original version with 23 strings is impeccable. This septet version is ok, but I hear too many individuals, I hear egos, I hear different levels of musicality among 7, I hear everything but not enough Strauss, the height of late romantic. Pity.
That’s exactly the message we would like to send by including this work into the programme “music during war”
Super Aufführung eines meiner Lieblingsstücke! Bravo!!!😍

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this.
Cette musique sublime est celle de la fin d’un monde.

Is this in Budapest?
Epic
21:41 ... what's that "new" tailpiece? (not Rysanov) I've seen a whole orchestra using them before. It didn't add anything to the sound...

演奏そのものは素晴らしいが、広告が多すぎて、まともに聞き通せないのが残念。
