BRAGA - Basilica dos Congregados

It was designed by the architect André Soares, built in the 16th century, although it was only completed in the 20th century.Construction began in 1703, and it was blessed on October 27, 1717, although the towers still needed to be built and the statues placed in the respective niches on the façade.These works would be carried out in the 20th century, with the west tower having been completed in 1964, by the illustrious António Augusto Nogueira da Silva, with a project by the architect Alberto da Silva Bessa, who was inspired by the towers of the Monastery of São Miguel de Refojos in Coarse.The statues on the façade - Felipe Neri and Martín de Braga - were erected on February 16, 1964 and are due to the sculptor Manuel da Silva Nogueira
