- Jimmy Buffett concert San Diego October 21, 2004 with video footage on USS Ronald Reagan. This is the jumbotron feed. This video shows at Margaritaville cafes on "Margaritavision".
WHEN I WAS 19 I MET JIMMY IN KEY WEST FLA, I DIDN'T REALIZE HE WAS THE MAN SITTING BESIDE ME, HE OFFERED TO BUY ME A DRINK, AFTER ABOUT 20 MIN WENT BY HE INTRODUCED HIMSELF AND SAID, "HI IM JIMMY, JIMMY BUFFETT" WHAT A NICE AND DOWN TO EARTH MAN! I HAVE BEEN A FAN EVERY SINCE!
"Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind that our forefathers' harnessed before us. Hear the bells ring as the tight rigging sings, its a son of a gun of a chorus." This is one of my favorite Jimmy Buffett passages. An incredible poet with a profound understanding of how things work and how to describe the scene and sounds so we feel like we're there with the salt spray on our smiling faces. I was lucky to have seen Jimmy and the Coral Reefers from Berkeley to Humphreys in San Diego. Such a devastating loss, gone too soon. Grateful to have his amazing music for comfort. Fair winds and following seas, my captain.
My late husband of 11 yrs this April was a Buffett fan; especially "Son of a Sailor Man" we sailed the coasts of Florida listening to Jimmy's songs. What great memories, THANK YOU, Jimmy Buffett for these wonderful memories.
“Where it all ends I can’t fathom my friends…” RIP, Jimmy. Breeze at your back.
What will we do without Jimmy Buffet? We'll remember him fondly, right!
This is for Carla! Thanks for throwing the best birthday party ever for me!! 7-6-11 in Pompano Beach FL!! So glad we're neighbors!
True Story. My mom actually lived in Jimmy Buffetts old trailor in St Pete Beach, FL. She said it was taken away and now Gators bar is at the spot. God bless you Jimmy. Your the man.
RIP Jimmy. So thankful to grow up with your music and be able to see you many times in concerts.
I first went to one of his concerts at Biloxi, Mississippi in 1978!! Been many of the places he's sung about And MY son is also the "Son of a Son of a Sailor (My dad was EM3 , USN in WW2. (And I'm LT, USN Ret!)
I have always been a Parrot Head and always listen to his music and read his books. I was stationed in Coronado from 90-93, I served from 89-99 USN Fight Deck Veteran
I was at this concert and what a great concert it was!!
A shipmate introduced me to Jimmy Buffett's music back in the 90's..been a fan ever since
I'm a retired U.S. Coast Guard sailor, love his music!
Am sorry to say have never sailed the high seas but I am in total love with my ukulele playing best friend who is the nephew of a Sailor....a Navy Chaplain in World War 2....
I love that big biker (looking) guy at 3:09. It proves that you can't judge people by appearance.
I grew up on Jimmy. It's nice to hear this again.
Great version of a great song! It is mighty nice with Jimmy playing for our Navy. I lived in San Diego for one year and got to be friends with a bunch of Navy Seals. They came to see our band regular and were super nice folks. It was great having them around in case somebody wanted to get smart and start something. I knew I was A ok as long as I had my friends around. Thank you guys for protecting our country!
If Jimmy Buffett isn't smiling, he's singing...... whats that tell ya?...
I was a USN Destroyer sailor back in the sixties. Love all of JB'S songs of the sea.
Great video!! Great JB tune, and as a former sailor on the USS South Carolina (CGN-37), this is a great tribute to the officers and gentlemen of the USS Ronald Reagan!! Outstanding!!
I went to Jimmy Buffett's concert in Phoenix in the past. It was amazing!
I was at this concert, visions of good times!
I remember Mission Bay sailing Hobie Cats....love Sn.Diego ...love Jimmy !
Yep, me too.
Also, thank god for all that are fighting for the USA and their families. God Bless.
Jimmy Buffett was and is a fun musician! I had one of his early albums-from 1974 given to me by my sister when I was quite young! Peace, BobbyK
My dad is the ultimate Parrot Head, prominent in the Chicago Parrot Head club. While I was never a huge fan myself (being a hard rock and metal guy), I have to admit some of my best memories as a kid and young teen was going to concerts with him. Jimmy is just a fantastic live performer, such a fun and chill party vibe. And looking back, there were and are many songs I genuinely enjoyed - this one being one my favorites.
I've loved his music for 30 yrs or more. It is still GOOD
Thank you Jimmy for remembering our boys in service
god bless the military and the usa

My favorite Buffet song. 5/5
Love this...
There is nothing quite like being on the bridge of an SSN, on a calm sea, with a full moon at 2am, heading into home port, with dolphins riding the bow wave. Whenever I need some visual relaxation, I think of that & either this song, or "Pirate Looks at 40".
Of course, there was nothing quite like being in Sonar while chasing Tommy the Commie back during the Cold War either.

@MyChoice2Serv we ARE that primitive, if we weren't, we wouldnt be in 2 different countries, killing civilians, whether they are militants or not...they wouldn't be killing us in return...severe war wouldn't surface every 10 to 20 years if we weren't in fact primordial (Hence we tend to have animalistic instics like bonobos and chimpanzees that are violent). our species is a very serious problem, and you are in denial if you think otherwise...we are the worst possible thing for this planet...
frickin a
@MyChoice2Serv "we fight who we're told"....that statement just doesn't rest well with me...fighting is so senseless, for whatever reason, and this is humanity's very problem...we are more primative than we want to believe...of course you can say something like "what are we supposed to do when planes are flying into our buildings" but like i said, we are more primative than we like to think...the species is the problem, not the race, culture, or country.
common, we are safe in america... every one but USA, conicidence???
