B707, B727, B747 (inboard wing LE sections), and B737-700 to name a few

A slat leaves a slot between the slat and the wing that allows air to flow through it and energize the air flowing over the wing.A leading edge flap (ie: a Kruger flap) extends the leading edge but is sealed against the wing and has no slot.
