I had always heard the Midas River song play when people were going crazy or going slow in video games and never understood why.
      I now understand lol

Into the sewers we go and we could have to deal with poo gas. There's also an enemy called "THE Big Boo"....oh right, he was correctly renamed to simply "Boo" so he finally dropped the high and mighty act before people would see a The Big Boo draw near.
Something I didn't think to mention, but Thought Peek, originally called Psychopath, was learned at Level 6 in the SNES version because the SNES version put in limited effort with its involvement, even though enemy thoughts were a thing there too. It also only provided the enemy's HP and thoughts, nothing about weaknesses or anything like that. There was also no Monster List in the original, but that also tracks to limitations at the time of 1996.
As to Huhwhat, or Pandorite as he was originally called and I will personally call him that, Pandorite actually has a sort of attack pattern, though effectively, he is otherwise able to use Carni-Kiss somewhat whenever he feels like it. And Carni-Kiss was generally unblockable on SNES with certain exceptions, which Pandorite isn't one of. There was only so much to mitigate its INSANE damage, such that I was having to heal off minor damage to stop potential sucker punching, and the potential mix of a Scream also created the possibility of an RNG spike. Here, however, it's one of those "patience is a virtue" kind of blockable attacks that we will see more of, so you get actual gameplay that allows somebody consistently choosing Magic on Level Ups to function better rather than being punished for daring to have some resistance to all-target magic attacks.
Oh yeah, and I should point out since you bring it up at one point, that player characters don't have non-0 evasion stats. Enemy spells simply have differing Hit Rates, although I don't care to look those up; I just handle things around the assumption that they will hit without fail. If anything, the Switch version actually removed the Magic Evade stat, which personally bothers me because that reduces enemies' character, but its gameplay influence was, while existent, still marginal.
OH I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING TO MENTION! The egg shuffle minigame from getting the Lucky Bonus Flower was actually complete randomness in the original. Here, you can actually track Yoshi properly to know which egg he is in when the shuffle stops.
Anyway, there was a spring by the switch that drains the water, and it would have you jump out of the entrance pipe. Obviously, the spring is removed with map warping being a thing.
15:08 - it's actually possible to get up there at this point. I won't spoil how in case you want to figure it out yourself, but you might like what's involved if you manage as much.
Belome, meanwhile, is unchanged basically. He's always been a theoretical No Damage Run even if I'm not caring to handle that much, and his purpose here is to teach the player about the Sleep and Scarecrow debuffs.
And finally, Midas River. The waterfall section is actually a bit more roomy, particularly making a coin by the first cave less bothersome to grab without ending up in the cave, although it consequently takes longer, and there's actual punishment for button mashing unlike in the original. The right side path had coins added, though unfortunately still having fewer coins than the left side path preventing its viability if you're going for the achievement. Oh, and speaking of the achievement, there's a couple of devilishly placed coins that will drag you down the intended path if you don't have micromanagement going on. Mercifully, however, the scene transition line is significantly lower than on SNES, so the bottommost coin isn't as nasty to grab during the involved process.
The barrel jumping also had a changed pattern from something that was actually easy enough to memorize (it was originally Bump, Jump, Jump, Bump), but this is easily checked by the VASTLY improved visibility for the player to know which lane will have more coins. I much prefer this approach for reducing memorization demand in the first place. I also feel that there's some actual input buffer for jumping, so that helps too.
And by the way, yes, I have the achievement with Midas River for BOTH versions.

Congrats on that HSR short blowing up!!!!! It kinda means that if you want the same engagement you need to make more HSR content but hey HSR is fun :D

I appreciate the congrats, but this video isn’t about Honkai: Star Rail. It’s about Super Mario RPG. Commenting about HSR on a video completely unrelated to it, is a little weird. Tbh, I’m having more fun playing Super Mario RPG than Star Rail right now. Both are fun, but the game *this video is about* is a lot of fun! People can play multiple games at once. If I only made Star Rail content, I would probably quit. I just want to have good time and provide some laughs. Big numbers is not what I want. If it happens, cool! If it doesn’t, cool! So please, check out Super Mario RPG! Because it’s been a lot more fun than I thought it would be! ❤️
