- So after a lot of back and forth, I broke down and bought a lawn tractor. This is my initial overview and thoughts. More indepth review down the road.
I was tossed up between a zero turn and lawn tractor. After price consideration, size considerations I finally settled on the Cub Cadet XT1 LT46.

The parking brake also doubles as cruise control. Get up to the speed you wanna go and push down on the lever to set speed. Pressing throttle or brake pedal disengages it.
As a fellow big guy - this is the review I have been looking for
yeah its perfect for me. for some reason my dads xt 2 isn't as spacious, its still comfy tho
I got mine a few weeks ago.I love it but have gotten it stuck so I bought some chains from amazon and that is a game changer
Ordered mine this morning. Now I have to be patient and wait for curb-side delivery. Neighbor bought the exact same a couple of months ago, and says it is like driving a Cadillac.
ohh its worth the way. hmm i should go cut the lawn.
we just bought a xt1 today so happy
rock on! best move ive ever made when it comes to yardwork
@@BensBackyardShop ty it just got here a bit ago, gotta wait for wife to get gas later tho
Love your recap of the morning at the end. Dudes rock. Hope the ribeye was great!
It was man! It's been a few weeks, so its time to start writing a review video for it. You won't recogonize the patio when i do this video lol it got a tad bigger. Thanks for the comment. Anything else you'd like to see? I am starting to focus on outdoor cooking and yard stuff :D Kind of narrowing things down.
yeah before you worry about that bagger you better worry about the drive belt on there you better make sure brand new because mine supposed to be brand new and it wasn't when it hit put on the ground
now I'm having trouble to get the drive belt routing on it so I can put it back together cuz my drive belt went out
@@curtisleblanc424 sounds like a crappy dealer. But now I'll be taking a peek at mine
Sharp looking tractor bro
Sure is vroom vroom
You have what I have, a 46" cut not 42" as you said in your video, you will enjoy the extra 4" width cut. I bought mine in 2010 and is still going strong.
i do have the 46" not sure why i kept thinking 42. i love the extra cut. i only wish it had a power bagger. it does clog quick in certain circumstances if i am not careful
What you need is a Trac Vac a fantastic machine I tow one behind my cub cadet. Leaves and grass no problem.
i bought the 2023 lt46. from the dealer. i wasn't sorry doing that. just picked it up and done.
❤love Canada Merci Québec M.T.L wow 😮😊
I have an XT1 L42, the cheap box store mower. It's done great so far. I have a rock area on the bottom of the property which has a spring that leaks water most of the year. There is an erosion problem that keeps uncovering new rocks, and it sucks. The cheap stock Cub blades will get bent. I went with the Gator blades and they are so much better. I know I need to address the spring issue but it is solid rock down there and will be expensive to deal with.
Actually I am interested in these gator blads. I will look them up!
Put plants on the rocky area and let it go back to nature.
They made a Craftman t240 and it looks very similar to this one
3 gallon gas tank, 46 inch deck
Great vid. I would say the best feature is the beer holder.
IT IS!
Nice Mower! I hope its not like the Bronco or T 140! With the Drive belt jumping off
i haven't had any issues yet. its only a year old. but rock solid. the only wish i had is the power bagger. really long or wet grass can clog things up
I have Pine trees and there a royal pine with branches limbs and pine cones. They tear up these mowers. They get inside the mower deck and chew up belts and things
i am fortunate enough not to have any trees from that perspective, but yes i can see that happening. Good comment to post.
@@BensBackyardShop COOL 👍👍
XT -1, LT 46, KOHLER 23HP…..Anyone know if the spindles have grease fittings and what is the recommended tire pressure. Thanks.
Neither mentioned in the service manual.
Does not
i bought a 2023 lt46. its strange that they took an lt 42. changed the deck to a 46. changed the engine to a kohler 23hp v twin from a single cylinder. instead of using the 50 inch mower that already has the v twin and just change the deck to a 46. the 46 looks strange due to the 46 sticking out on the sides from my old 42 in. with the hood up and looking from 10 feet the engine looks huge. it defiantly has serious power. its a bulldog of a mower. its even funnier that you can get a lx 42 that has a vtwin. its ridiculous. besides the 46 was $2500 and the lx 42 was $3200.
My kids, just bought me one of these today for Father's Day.
Thanks for your Overview on it.
I was already thinking about disconnecting that safety, seat switch, and disconnecting that stupid, reverse button.
The deck's on these are amazing though, and very well made. I didn't get the bagger, I'm not into those. I have about 5 acers of land, and I'd be stopping to deal with that way to often. I do however like to use the Gator, mulching blades. They can cut tall grass without leaving a bunch of clippings all over your yard. I'll be replacing the blades after this year.
Are you still happy with it? or have you had any problems out of it?
i keep meaning to do a 1 year review video. the only thing i don't like, is i could use a power bagger on it. it clogs easily. otherwise i have had zero issues with it. runs great. solid machine. no regrets!!
@@BensBackyardShop I've only used mine once and my yard looks great. No problems with mine as of yet. I hope it lasts me a long time. My old Craftsman lasted me 30 years. the motor still runs buy doesn't hardly move in gear. not sure what the problem is. But I now that I have the new one I could care less about it. hahaha.. Thanks for the update. Peace.. Joe
@@thebluesrockers my craftsman yt3000 42 finally crapped out after only 10. i tried life support but the internal governor took a dive. i had already done enough work keeping the deck working.
LT 46 is a 46 INCH DECK ! Showed it in your video as you were saying 42 inch deck lol
i know right! Brain went bonkers! Earlier in the day my dad and I were disussing his 42in deck. lol Probably had that on my mind
does it 46 inch have 2 blades or one
@@qovvi2386 2 blades
did you have to do anything more than ad oil to the motor to setup? Im trying to find out if i have to ad fluid to the transmission
If you have a good dealer, no. all I had to do was drive it off their trailer. They delivered, filled with everything!
I just bought and received my LT46 a little while ago. Tractor Supply is a great dealer! My old Craftsman Pro 42" with a Kohler 22 HP literally caught on fire due to leaves getting on the muffler and in seconds, it was toast. It did last for about 8 years though. So, on this one, I received 2 keys but they look the same. Any clue on what that's all about? I can't wait to start using this thing! Thanks for the video!
MINE HAS 2, ONE IS A SPARE
@@BensBackyardShop That's what I thought. I checked it and they both fit. It threw me off because one has a larger plastic fob. Thanks!
Question: I have an older but the same unit as yours. It's really been an excellent mower in the past. Problem: Why does the engine bog down now as I engage the blades. The rpm's will gradually speed back up after engaged, what's the problem ? Thanks
probably a good question for a mechanic. I am not sure. maybe someone here could answer?
ok, thanks

Really torn between this cub and the Husqvarna with the twin b&s 46” deck
Im pretty happy with the cub. That includes the beer can holder!
take my advice. my mother bought a Husqvarna 48 back in april. it had a knocking sound. it was the clutch linkage. like a lot of others i had to rig a spring behind the engine to pull tension on the clutch pedal linkage. it did fix it. but i bought a 2023cub cadet lt46. the clutch linkage is tight and no noise. i have 8 hrs. so far its been great. just blow it off with compressed air. a pressure washer/ garden hose kills mower deck bearings. i just wipe it down with a damp cloth. cub cadet says change break in oil at 5 hrs. stay away from theose briggs engines. junk. go kohler.
Mine will start but not engage the wheel when I press the accelerater
sounds like it needs some service. I was pleasantly surprised. i stored it on the back patio over winter. fired right up. I am not use to that :D
I bought me one of those the other day and filled it up on the way home I mowed my yard with it I have about 4 acres to mow and cause of the 3 gallon gas tank I always have to fill up after I mow don't you just love paying 12.57 to fill your mower up
And it’s $15.75 to fill up mine here on 6/7/22. Thanks Brandon!
its nice only having .6 acres, keeps the gas usage low. But I did run it out of gas once.
the 15 bucks seems so cheap if i fill it up when i fill up my truck lol
Hey guys, help me out. Whatelse would you want to see videos of?
@@BensBackyardShop Mulch blade review?
This is a 2022 model. I have the same one.
yup it is. coming on having it one year!
just delivered?
why does the engine look like it has a few seasons on it already?
you didn't complain?
that was from me, i cut before the video, and well i had alot of dust from the yard and the farm field next door
I own one battery went dead in fall pulled it charged it up and now this year won't start lol they don't make good ones anymore.
I went out and started mine in Jan. Started right up. Some people get good ones, some people get bad ones. I got lucky.
3 gallon tank
Thank you. I filled it up this week and also realized that. :)
46 inch deck.
3 gallon gas tank.
I hope you did not buy it NEW, you got a USED TRACTOR - "delivered this morning"?? With 12.7 hours....
Hows she going today? They are so expensive now 😢
I wouldn't even want to price one out right now.
@@BensBackyardShop is it still running well?
@@braxtonvestal777 like a dream!!
@@BensBackyardShop awesome to hear! ordering one tomorrow for 2500 🤢
Need something after running our 18 year old yard machine Into the dirt.
IDK Why they didn't make the fuel gauge out in the front, where you can see it better. My pony i have to raise the hood. While driving. 🙄 To look at how much fuel i have > I think it should be MANDATORY! That all ridding lawn mowers. To have a fuel gauge. IDK how many times i ran out! WAY OUT IN THE FIELD
yeah I ran out a couple times. its in an inconvenient spot, and its kinda hard to see. I keep it topped off though. No more running out for me
@@BensBackyardShop Lets hope so. I keep my top off to! but. Some times i run out 🙄
3 gal gas tank
thank you
My man what’s up with that pinky nail?
wart under it
:/
@@BensBackyardShop ooof hope it got better. I just broke my hand and I too got a crack nail growing on a splinted finger.
It has a 46 inch deck not a 42 inch deck you start your video out wrong
I totally did. Brain Fart. I am going to be making a 1 year update video soon. REMIND ME TO SAY 46! LOL
