Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Exploring the Prologue Faceship

  • In this exploration video, I enabled a small code that forces the game to load the Scenario of MarioFaceShipGalaxy that contains the prologue Faceship, skipping the cutscene trigger.
    Normally, you aren't able to explore this planet/area as you're restricted to the rock platform at the top, until Lubba ultimately transforms it into the final Faceship (bringing the stage into the proceeding, playable Scenario).
    Due to the nature of forcing the game to load this Scenario unintended, certain things are kinda broken.
    Patchbuilder site I generate some of my general-use codes from:
    mariogalaxy.org/patchbuilder
    If you want to enable specifically what I did, simply locate "LoadSpecifiedGalaxyOnFileSelected" and input "MarioFaceShipGalaxy" in [GalaxyName] and "1" in [ScenarioNumber] then generate the codes at the bottom to the format you want.
    "SpinWorksInNewSave" is the other code I also used in the video.
    Patchbuilder is an experimental, work-in-progress, online tool anyone can use to generate and combine simple memory patches/code into whatever formats they like (Riivolution XML, Dolphin INI, Kamek/Syati binaries, DOL).

      Nah, that's just Lubba being too close to the wheel, so his A button prompt shows up making it seem that way xd

    Strange collision on that steering wheel. Why is it so high up when the model isn't anywhere near that size?

      For better performance. Nintendo is known throughout both games (along others) to export 2 separate models for a planet/object. The visual model itself, which is the most resource intensive, then a separate collision model whose geometry is simplified. Especially since Nintendo didn't intend on anybody being able to explore this properly, this visual model to collision difference is irrelevant.
