Doge dude he an actually spike with down air but the opponent has to be at like 180-200+ percent and its so inconsistent until 200+ also if you don't space it just right it won't spike and for some reason it even gets less specific as you get to higher percents but even at 999 you can miss the spike if you space very badly I wonder if it was just added as a joke by the developers?
They need to make macs down smash spike and insta kill off stage, not like anyone is gonna land it anyway
Justin O’Donnell that would be amazing lol, I wish least his down air was able to spike at like 80+ percent or even 100+ percent, how is Mac getting anyone to 180% without killing them first? Also most of the time he dies even if you manage to land the spike using training mode :(

How do you perform a meteor smash?

qwerttzizzi In Melee and Brawl a Meteor Smash is any move that sends the opponent directly downward or almost downward; these moves' knockback could be canceled after some frames (I can't remember the specific value) with jump or an up-b to completely stop the momentum, so you could recover from these if the knockback wasn't too high.
In these games a spike sends you more sideways (Imagine a x-axis, for example an angle of -45°) and cannot be meteor canceled.
In Smash 4 onwards, meteor cancel has been removed, so there's no difference

in case your wondering, the characters that don't have meteor smashes are fox, jigglypuff, young link, meta knight, wario, lucario, pac man, and bowser jr.
Apparently, meta knight, wario and lucario can, meta knight does with his side special, only the last frame does, wario's down air it does only in the last hit, and lucario down air can do it just like luigi's

The most predictable meteor smash is down aerial most (not all) characters of the Smash roster have it
Is it weird that some characters dont have any Meteor Smashes at all (Peach & Daisy for example they only have an spike effect on-stage with their down-tilt, it can’t even meteor smash by the ledge which is pretty sad actually) heck I think all characters should at least have (deserve) one Meteor Smash in their moveset, Donkey Kong has *FOUR* and Dr. Mario gained one in this game)
The only characters who dont have Meteor Smashes are: Peach, Daisy, Pac-Man, Fox, Squirtle, Jigglypuff, Lucario, Wario and Bowser Jr
These are Meteor Smashes/Spikes I would give them: Peach & Daisy (the last hit of their down aerial, and able to Spike/Meteor Smash off-stage opponents with their down-tilt similar to old Link’s sword down-tilt) Pac-Man (the last hit of his down aerial) Fox (His Down-aerial also finally Fox Illusion similar to Falco’s Side-Special) Jigglypuff (Similar to Kirby’s Down-aerial/The last hit of Down-Aerial) Lucario (Down-aerial) Squirtle (The last hit of his Down-Aerial) Wario (The last hit of his Down-aerial) and Bowser Jr (the downward hammer swing or the last hit of his Down-aerial)
Also as an addition I would give Samus & Dark Samus an Spike/Meteor effect on their Up-tilt for off-stage opponents (similar to Captain Falcon’s Up-tilt)

If they could suddenly give Dr. Mario a Down Air spike they could’ve gave Daisy one too to make her more fun and badass. Yes I love Daisy and main her.
Mario Mythes Sonic should’ve got Sonic Eagle as Fair that spikes and Sonic Flare as a Down Smash kind of like Mario’s.

You forgot about ZSS's Down B kick, during it the meteor is stronger and it counts as an another spike

@@NintenUnity I mean if you press B again during the animation of the flip jump, you will get a so called flip kick, which is an another move then this, this one is the weaker kick of the flip jump which doesnt require inputs and is weaker overall. That means, that ZSS's Down B has 2 spikes

Edgeguarding with little mac is actually a viable option for him. His down smash can reach down quite a bit and since his down smash has super armor, he can power through alot of recovery. And God forbid if your recovery is as slow as dk or bowser

I recently fought a level 9 Mario CPU as my Mii Brawler, and hit the cleanest spike I’ll ever pull off, the Mario had grabbed me and threw me down, when I stopped moving up, I hit him with a D-air, and KO’d him.
I legit had to pause the game to process what I just did, I rarely ever spike at all in smash cause I’m bad at the game

Fun Fact: Yoshi's b-air actually spikes but it makes no meteor sound. If you time it correctly at the ledge and cancel it by landing, the 2nd hit of the b-air will send the enemy downwards.
I know you showed onslaught (Mii Brawler) on the stage, but if you do it when the opponent is off-stage it looks alot better

Isnt mii swordfighter's dair a weak meteor as well? It doesnt make the meteor sound effect, but the entire move knocks the opponent downward, even the final hit
I’m just curious on how Clouds spike works, I’m trying to improve at learning how to spike but I’m not quite sure how to spike with cloud
if you're using the forward air to spike, i think you gotta be as close as possible to the opponent (which is a bit risky), if you're going for the down air spike, just make sure you hit them with the start of the attack so Cloud's animation will launch the opponent down with his sword
