- Mike starts step one of the restoration process of our old Hallicrafters SX-43. This unit is in such rough shape that Mike has coined it the "Junkyard Dog".
Will this be a resurrection or will it be a post mortem? Tune in and find out!

Mike,
Years ago, I had a boat anchor in much the same condition and decided it was likely unfixable. A very wise member of the Antique Radio Forum piped in with: "There's no reason that radio can't be restored." Turned out he was 100% right. Without a doubt, you're far more experienced and knowledgeable than I am, so perhaps you gave up a little too quickly. The fact is: There's no reason that radio can't be restored.
Regards,
John
I havent given up at all. I will now search for the parts I need. It might take a month or it may take 2 years. I will find what I need and it will indeed fly again. Just not today. I believe I said this in the last quarter of the video.
Can't win them all.
No, we cant. But I will wait. In the end we will win. Just not today :)
Yes, Parts Radio for sure... To bad, it could have been a nice radio, but RUST scares me as well, means it was misused or stored poorly for a long time.... Who ever worked on this was definitely an AMATURE!!!! 😞
Well, I see a lot of jobs done poorly from the 1960s era. Techs just did their bare minimum to get the job done and get paid. So, not surprised really. This old girl has a lot of hours on her. One day we will find another....
What a shame ! This was a really good piece of equipment not that long ago. Somebody didn't treat this radio the way it should have been treated they just neglected it and left it to rot.
