      It has become way harder to sample, but I will say that there still is layered samples records like this today where they just use a bit more obscure samples.

    • @Musicradio77Network
      @Musicradio77Network 3 роки тому +3

      @@Gaffapediahus If you look at sampling, take the Four Tops with the opening track to “In These Changing Times”, and you get a bunch of random sampling like “Jet Taking Off”, “Carousel”, and “Large Crowd Laughter”, from “Sound Effects - Vol. 1”, “Calliope: Dixie” from “Sound Effects - Vol. 2”, “Cuckoo Clocks”, “Bedlam in a Cuckoo Clock Shop”, “Mantel Clock”, “Mantel Clock (Whittington)” and “Clock Ticking (Time Bomb Effect)” from “Sound Effects - Vol. 3”, and “Magnificent Fireworks Display (Rockaway’s Playland)” from “Sound Effects - Vol. 5”. Those were direct samples which were used at the very beginning of “In These Changing Times” by the Four Tops, and on top of it, a break beat was later sampled by John Legend called “Each Day Gets Better”.

    This album is sampling MASTERPIECE!!! Unfortunately, this was right around the time that Hip Hop artists started getting sued by the original artists. The layering was so outstanding!!! This album is the reason I would say The Bomb Squad were in the top 3 Hip Hop producers of all time.

    When you consider all the unrecognizable samples underneath each other. And how they all combine to make these otherworldly sounds. It’s something I find hasn’t been explored as well since PE. They make these instrumentals out of samples, but turn these samples into something widely different.

      Check out Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique" and De la Soul's "3 ft High and Rising". PE's "Nation of Millions" and NWA's "Straight Otta Compton". Eazy-E's "Eazy-Duz-It" for a bonus. These albums can NEVER be made again and are a treasure trove of samples.

    Easily the greatest use of sampling as it’s own unique art form. 1988-1991 had some incredible use of dense layered sampling. This album, NWA’s EFIL4ZAGGIN, Pop Will Eat Itself This is the Day, This is the Hour, This is this and Skinny Puppy’s Too Dark Park all come to mind. But the Bomb Squad for sure were easily the best at it. They did this album and Ice Cube’s Amerikkka’s Most Wanted the same year!

    There's way more there than this. I only made it a little way, but you missed Prince's Let's Go Crazy guitar solo on Brothers Gonna Work it Out. I think there might be a sample of Strawberry Fields Forever in that track too.

    I have a couple requests
    1. The Samples: Renard Edition
    2. The Samples: Christtt Edition
    3. The Samples: Will Smith Edition
    Christtt can be found on UA-cam just by typing his name in the search bar, he has a yellow and red picture for his profile. He has made lists of samples he used, but not all of them are linked to the original source. An album he did was called Social Justice Whatever, and I figured you could start there.
    Oh and one more request: The Samples: Neil Cicierega Mouth Moods edition.
