- Ever wondered about the juicy scandals and controversies that surrounded Hollywood leading ladies back in the swinging '60s?
Well, you're in for a treat! Today, we're diving into the intriguing world of the "25 Most HATED Hollywood Actresses of the 1960s. Get Ready!
I don't ever recall Sophia Loren being hated ever !
Charleston Heston believed himself to be a biblical icon. He went on to say, “from my cold dead hands” at the NRA convention. Cold heart…dead hands.
I don't hate her, but I never thought Loren was any great beauty. Her mouth is all over her face.
I think Sophia Loren is one of the most beautiful women on the planet!! There is a book by Andre Norton -- The Zero Stone. The story is 2 volumes. It is about a spaceship's cat who eats a furry rock and has a talking or telepathic cat who feet ending in paws like a monkey so he can manipulate tools. He is very bossy with the man he teams up with who chafes at being ordered around and at the end of the second book the cat eats a second furry rock and turns into an incredibly beautiful woman. Now he suddenly doesn't mind being bossed around as he practically drools. I always pictured Sophia Loren in that role (if they ever made it into a movie)!!
This guy is an idiot to call Sophia Loren hated actress !!! Stupid idiot !!!!!!!!!!
Taxes
Diana Rigg was never hated. She recently passed with lung cancer. Have some respect.
Right! Hated because of why? Garlic? lol
🤔 Just calm down. Come on, we all make some enemies during our time here on earth 🌎 !!..
Class and Style!!! She of Madame Peel of The Avengers!!!!
@@Snarkyhippie I can see why a vampire might hate her.
😅😅😢😂Hc,.. 😢😮😅😂
Jane Fonda's dad was Henry Fonda, who was also an actor. Henry Ford built cars, famous for the assembly line in the early 1900's.
That one is pretty hard to ignore.
It's not really related
Exactly.🙄
Did you see my comment about how announer man F's up so many names? He called the famous French director Louis Malle (Mall) Mally.
Henry Ford should be erased from history for being a Hitler lover.
What a ridiculous show. Yes, Hanoi Jane was hated, but none of the rest of them. Maybe I slept through the sixties, but those like Diana Rigg were always admired. Who made this mess?
Thats bs about Julie Andrew's
I don't believe it
Everyone loves Anne Margaret
It seems like the people who put this list together simply listed the 25 most famous actresses. Then the one legit actress people hated, Jane Fonda, they found "perplexing" that animosity still exists. And she was NOT anti war..she was pro war but just wanted the NVA to win. She was anti US. Yes, its' so perplexing that people are still upset about her actions for which she has NEVER apologized.
Well said..!!
Traitor Jane deserved to be hated, especially by the families of all the soldiers killed in Viet Nam. The rest of these femmes were not hated. Who made up this list? Janet Leigh was well-liked, and so was Sophia Loren.
Not even half way through and still can't understand why these women were the "most hated" Makes no sense
Because this person is an idiot, no sense can be made of it.
Agree! The only one who qualifies is Hanoi Jane Fonda, who is still hated by Vietnam era veterans.
Totally untrue. Most of them were certainly NOT HATED.
I can't believe some of them were hated that much. I just find that hard to believe.
These were not hated women. Most of them were strong willed and/or starring opposite an actor who was chauvinistic. The only one who fits your headline is Jane Fonda. And that was for her controversial political actions. Even then, one can't deny her talent. Btw, her father was Henry Fonda, not Henry Ford.
Her dad was an asshole too
Then again...for those if us that had studied the history of south East Asia and realized who was getting rich from the war that took many of our brave or poor ($) young men she was a hero. Although she did a few things that proved to be silly and not representative of our political decent she did lead the movement that lead to Kent State.
Which all happened when she was young. She's over 80 years old now.
Thank you for the name correction!
I totally agree with you!!!
You confuse fame and Diva-like behavior. Just because an actress is well known, doesn't mean she is hated
Oh relax, dude! You act as if this directly is aimed at you! You didn’t pay attention to the disclaimer at the beginning? Lol
Veteran here, Hanoi Jane was hated, and still is by a lot of people just for what she did in Vietnam
This comment needs more likes. Struggling to understand the word "HATED" in the title
She was hated for her political interference and views to do with that war
Jane is hated
I don't believe Brigitte Bardot and Janet Leigh were hated. Who hated them???
Bridgette Bardot was unfortunately hated because of her admission of not loving her OWN children, she said she couldn't bond with them and she felt like they were BOTH tumors taking over her OWN body which she wish she could have cut out. I believe it was just a different time and she probably had Post Partum Depression and you know that Hollywood was very different for women than men.
Brigitte Bardot has become controversial in the last 20 years for her outspoken views about Islamic barbarism towards animals. She has been convicted and fined under French laws. But in her youth, unlike Jane Fonda who became controversial for her outspoken views about American involvement in the Vietnam, she was just a very desired actress.
@@thinkingallowed7042 She also said she loves ANIMALS more than her Kids
@@user-ju9re9ob2v She doesn't have kids. She has the one child, her son. I love animals much more than my relatives.
@@thinkingallowed7042 Okay 👍 sounds great
I've never heard anything negative said about Julie Andrews, but she is only human.
She was said to swear like a trouper !
@@lynnedelacy2841 I wouldn't call swearing a negative. I think people who swear are the most honest.
@@lynnedelacy2841 Which makes her all the more likeable. This video is ridiculous.
@@DaddyOfTheSugarVariety Oh, I agree. People who swear have a reason for swearing, and there's no sugar-coating. It can become a habit after awhile, but usually stemmed from extreme or almost constant frustrations over the ridiculous. Or just pure disgust with the world, which all too frequently deserves one's disgust.
ENOUGH AI NARATORS ALREADY!!! THEY ARE CERTAINLY ARTIFICIAL BUT THERE IS NOTHING INTELLIGENT ABOUT THEM..... STOP
AND YOU, man IN CAPITALS... stop being angry.... and mean and petty, as well as ignorant!!!!
As dumb as AI is, I'm beginning to think we really don't have to worry about it that much. Except that some humans are as dumb or dumber. That IS worrysome!
Used, abused and accused, but certainly NOT hated!
So successful women who had one hateful man in their past are now considered hated. Got it.
I couldn't agree with anything in this video. Some of those actresses were some of the most beloved by their fans.
It should have been entitled the most iconic 25 actresses. Perhaps, the title was chosen to garner more views.
If that was a bitch list, they left out some major bitches...like Joan Crawford.
HANOI JANE NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR WHAT SHE DID! She stated that she was sorry if her actions upset some people. She also stated on The View that pro-life people should be murdered.
I would agree with you, except about Jane Fonda. The majority of these actresses, it's hard to find out why they were so disliked - issues that went beyond not getting along smoothly with one particular costar on one particular movie. But Jane Fonda's actions were shockingly HORRIBLE to not only Viet Nam Veterans, but to all American veterans.
Yep. Count me out. This absolutely absurd.
The only actress here who was legitimately maligned is Jane Fonda because she visited the enemy in the Vietnam War.
Maybe I missed something, but why was Ann-Margret hated???? And was George Peppard supposed to be one of the most hated actresses of the 60s?? And what was the problem with Deborah Kerr to make her disliked??? And Ann Bancroft's problem was that she was "complex"??? A lot of this makes no sense at all.
I never knew George Peppard had a sex change! When was this and how did they keep it quiet all this time?
Ann Margaret was one of the most beloved of all the actresses of her time by nearly all of the Vietnam vets! She was one solid supporter of our troops back then. If she disapproved of Johnson's war (which we never heard her say) she NEVER took it out on our troops, unlike a traitor named Hanoi Jane!
@@phillipstephens4522
Ah, ah, ah..... no matter how good the plastic surgeon is, George Peppard CAN'T become an attractive woman!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@user-gl3mn4gf4l Who said he would be good-looking?
Sophia Loren was and is still loved !!!!!! You are assuming things you don't understand.
@susanschuerman..Agree, absolutely..disgraceful. ..
Patricia Neal was hated? The whole segment was about how everyone hated George Peppard not Patricia Neal! Incidentally, Peppard himself in later years confessed that he was a jerk to be around, in no small part to his alcoholism throughout most of his career. Ms. Neal’s inclusion in this video should be removed.
When talking about the experience with Peppard on Breakfast at Tiffany’s in an interview, she did say that at the time he was a conceited little s**t.
The only people I know that at one point of their life hated Neal were Peppard, Gary Cooper and his wife, Her husband Roald Dahl and probably their children that Inheard hated both parent. More Dahl than her. They destroyed Dahl legacy. Also probably hate her former best friend. A homewracker that destroyed Neal marriage and eventually be Dahls final wife.
But most Hollywood loved libertarian Neal specially Dolores Hartm
If they ever did a "10 Most Hated Narrators" this Narrator would easily score #1 !!😝

Ha ha, very good!!
Damn right!!!
I became a fan of Diana Rigg from the television series The Avengers.
@bilbergendahl..Yep..me too..excellent show !!!
I did too, I still love that great show whenever it comes on.
Just because Heston didn’t like her, doesn’t mean she was hated. She was well loved during her amazing ing career. In fact, many men loved her.
Having Heston hate an Actress is a PLUS in my book.
My husband,included.He has wonderful taste.
I can’t stand Heston !
Charlton Heston had a reputation as a arrogant male chauvinist so who wouldn't hate him.
@@MartinSageMine as well…and I am a 78 year-old WOMAN!!

I don't see hatred toward these actresses, or any reason for it. They're just people following their paths in life, but unlike most of us, under a microscope. Jane Fonda's apparent coziness with North Vietnam is the exception Imagine you're a U S service man seeing someone of her stature fraternizing with people who are shooting at you.
Being a woman integrity, she stood up for what she believed.
I’m guessing you are very young, or you’re one not interested in learning the truth.
When you're a serviceman being tortured, and you see the Taylor Swift of your generation laughing and eating with the people holding you hostage without even trying to help.... that's a whole 3-4 generations of hate right there.
Yea, that would be like all the protesters on college campuses whining about the Palestinians, who know that until hamas is destroyed the Palestinian people will suffer.
As for Israel, it’s hard to have sympathy when they truly are running their country along the lines of South Africa under apartheid.

Julie Christie isn't 66, she's 83.
And she looks every bit of 83 !
I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one that noticed that the age was way off.
Please take Janet Leigh off this list. She did not star in Some like it hot, that was the great Marilyn Monroe. She has never said a bad word of anyone!!!!!!
Her husband, Tony Curtis, was a star in that movie, and that's why it was shown while discussing their marriage.
Hesston was insecure and a legend in his own mind .longtime NRA nutjob
Wasn't she in "Psycho"?
And take Julie Andrews off the list too…….most directors, according to a special on TCM said that most directors could hardly wait to work with her because she took direction so carefully and was obliging to all of her costars. This dude is a lazy hack.
Dame Diana Rigg was An Ultlaime example of Cool And Stylish Class and Elan!!! A Matchless Shakespean Thespian She shone most brightly as Ms. Emma Peel on The Avengers!!!! Allure and Grace!!!

I agree, 100%
Based upon this video, these women seem to be hated because they are or were more popular than their male counterparts. They were strong willed, very outspoken against what they thought was wrong, promoted their own careers and often took unpopular side in controversial causes. Most of these women are/were phenomenal actresses who are/were multi-talented. It's easy to hate someone with whom we are jealous and cannot control. I find it difficult to believe Dame Julie Andrews was hated. If she was that difficult, why did the child actors in The Sound of Music speak so highly of her in interviews? Was this hatred of these actresses based upon a few men or a large section of Hollywood? I've heard positive comments about most of these actresses from people who had worked with them. Based upon what I've read about Hollywood celebrities, there was always some co-star who didn't like them or some rivalry between them.
Well, consider that the person disliking her was Richard Harris, a notorious drunkard. He didn't like that she didn't appreciate his "playful" attitude on set and was annoyed when he interrupted her quiet conversations with his antics. Some party animals resent it when others aren't there to laugh at their class clown behavior.
This post could be renamed the 'most popular actresses of the 60's'. Oh and everyone loved Ann -Margret.
Well said….I agree with your statement 100%!
@wandaworld..Well spoken..!!
Rigg is actually very beloved and even Lazenby does not hate her anymore, which happened before her passing. Weird choice.
She played Cupid for Vincent Price and Coral Brown when they all worked together on Theater of Blood.
Doesn’t sound like a hateful person.
I can't imagine Diana Rigg being hated. She was the best in the Avengers, but who would watch George Lazenby trying to play James Bond 🤬🤨
Diana Rigg actually outshined George Lazenby and brought people to the movie when he was the new Bond. She was an established actress in theater and TV, just recently leaving The Avengers in ‘68.
7:06 Born in 1940, Christie is significantly older than 66

I will always believe that Wagner had something to do with the death of Natalie Wood. They were married at the time of her death and Wagner was the last one to see her alive on the boat. I will never understand why he was not listed as the number one suspect back then.
Wagner killed her. No Doubt. I followed that killing since it happened , many years ago. GUILTY
Absolutely he knows or was involved in her death. He and Christopher Walken know exactly what happened.

How can anyone hate Mary Poppins? I refuse to believe it!
Mary Poppins is a fictional character. People hated the woman that portrayed Mary Poppins. And even that is unlikely.
@@larryyeadeke2953They are referring to the character of Mary Poppins which Julie Andrew's played.
I never liked Julie Andrews. Always imagined she could be a nasty woman behind the scenes.
Julie Andrew's was beloved by everyone at her height
I cant understand, How Talented Actress Judy Garland made it to number #2. She shouldn't been included at all. It wasn't easy, Being Judy Garland, As she one said. For GOD Sake, Let her RIP!
She should notbbe included because she made very few films in the 60s, and except 1, all flopped badly😅😅😅
@@huguihugh9803 I've read where Judy's mother frittered Judy's money away, and was responsible for a lot of her psychological, mental and emotional troubles. Not to mention her financial woes. Stage mother on steroids!
@@jrnfw4060 This isn't about Judy Gaarland life, that I trully don't care. Specially after hundred of books, plays, Films, TV movies, miniseries and series.
Just she wasn't a big movie star in the 60s, maybe she was a huge pop star, a top selling singer and stage star, but not a movie star.-
Big stars in the 60s were Doris Day, Liz Taylor, Hayley Mills, Nathalie Wood, Audray, Julie Andrews.
Newcomers were Faye Dunnaway, Julie Christie, Susannah York, Hannoi Jane, Glenda Jackson, Maggie Smith, Ann Margret, Raquel Welch even Judy's daughter Liza.
Foreign sirens were Lollo, Sophia, Virna, Anita, Jeanne
Still Film stars were Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Maureen O'Hara, Deborah Kerr, Susan Hayworth.
Gaarland as Marleen Dietrich, Olivia DeHavilland or Vivien were semiretired actresses, from a glorious past in the 30s and 40s.-
Diana gained true stardom as Emma Peel on TV in The Avengers !!!! You left that out.
It seems that people are aiming the guns at a lot of good actresses from the 60's; It's like, "Who should we hate this week?"
All of them were beautiful and have unique faces, no artificials.
@princessquil..I agree..mostly..
I've never thought that Judy Garland was particularly glamorous. As was described, her looks were "unconventional", especially her hairstyles, that never, in my opinion, looked quite right on her.
Diana Rigg was about more than film or television. She was first and foremost a THEATRE actress and a very distinguished one. She started off at the Royal Shakespeare Company but was also a regular at the National, both at the Old Vic, where I saw her in Andromache by Racine directed by Jonathan Miller and later at the South Bank. Of course it was the Avengers and being Mrs Peel that catapulted her to fame and then the movies but even if it had never happened she would still have been a great theatre actor. Incidentally her best Hollywood part was in the brilliant Paddy Chayevsky movie the Hospital with George C Scott. A wonderful satirical masterpiece.
Yes, Diana was great again in that role and got along great with George C Scott. Glad you mentioned it!
It's important to approach historical perspectives with sensitivity, as public opinions can change over time. Rather than focusing on negativity, let's appreciate the diverse contributions of Hollywood actresses in the 1960s, acknowledging the complexities of the industry during that era.
@HOURGLASSTVO1..Very well spoken..
Thank you@@Maldoror200
So who hated these women? Men who felt threatened?
Men who feel secure allow women to be themselves, and respect them for it.
You know, Neely O'Hara is damn right in 'Valley of the Dolls' when she opines (and I paraphrase) 'When a man stands up for himself in Hollywood he has 'integrity', but when a woman does, she's 'difficult.' Why isn't Heston listed as one of the most hated men? Loren may have been pushy on 'El Cid' but it sounds like Heston was already pushing hard thus leading him to come to shove...
I played a drinking game with the narrator every time it mispronounced a word or name. That was a week ago, as I’m only just sobering up.
😅😅😅😅
The narrator is artificial and stupid with zero imtelligence. Get rid of the moorland all this woke crap.
you never mention who hated them. title very misleading.
I can't believe Natalie Wood is number 1. Ann Margret, Sophia Loren, Judy Garland, Julie Andrews and a few others I find hard to believe. Raquel Welch and Jane Fonda maybe. Christopher Plummer said Julie Andrews was so sweet he almost didn't like her or something to that effect. I would like to add Shirley MacLaine as a possible most hated too (I watched the video over and drew that conclusion.)
I just met Ann Margaret at David Winters funeral, she was absolutely lovely, sweet & kind. She told me to call her "Annie" ... Now if you want a really hateful person go after Hope Holliday, what a rude self righteous b*tch she is. Cheating on her husband Frank Marth with Cameron Mitchell. Tramp!

its amazing how he knocks Mia farrow when Dylan farrow has now come out and said woody did it for years
They forgot Faye Dunaway.....even her own people avoid her!
These choices are certainly someone's opinion. As to my opinion, Hanoi Jane will always be #1. As to fact... at 22:00 in the Ann-Margret section, the photo on the right is NOT Elvis, but Pat Boone who starred with A-M in STATE FAIR.
I've never heard a complaint about most of these actresses, but if I had $5 for every time I've heard someone cuss Hanoi Jane I could buy a house
Lol were you even born when Hanoi Jane was a thing? she made a stupid mistake, a misguided, biased attempt to speak out against the war. But nothing she said or did was entirely wrong. USA should never have been there, they had big heads after Korea and WW2, and were way too paranoid about Communism.

Not Henry Ford, his name is Henry Fonda!!!! One of Hollywood's GREATEST Actors Ever. Watch "The Grapes of Wrath" and I'm sure you will agree. John Steinbeck wrote the famous book. Another famous American writer!!!!!
Henry Fonda starring in "In Harm's Way" with John Wayne is one of my all time favorites.
Just commented on the Fonda thing and how awful this vid is
Anyone who confuses Henry Fonda with Henry Ford will not take the time to watch THE GRAPES OF WRATH. But, I agree, great film and superb performance by Fonda.
I've read that book. Very dark. Man's inhumanity to man. In the end, the mother of the stillborn baby helped feed a starving man with her breast milk. Some hard choices those characters had to make ... Read it. It's a classic.
All actors and actresses can have difficult moments just like none celebrities
He also called Henry Fonda -- Henry Ford.....Ridiculous....!
1:04 "...born into Hollywood royalty as the daughter of legendary actor Henry Ford..." And there goes your credibility right there.....
This started with hated actresses but quickly became just a summary of their careers…
I doubt sincerely if the general public hates these women. There are people in the industry who are not nice people and play the diva.
But I don't think most of these women fit that category.
6:00 With Claudia Cardinale, the film "Once upon a time in the West" would not have had the same effect."
I looked up the accusation against Woody Allen. From everything I read he did not do it. He even did a polygraph and passed it with flying colors.
Nonsense, any other competent woman could have played in 'Once Upon a Tim in the West ! Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda 'made' the movie - and of course the genius of Sergio Leone ! -
All this actresses were the most loved. Of cause not everyone loves everyone.

Well speaking as a woman....we've come a long way baby. Born in 1959. I think the fact that my father was a male chauvinist pig but a loveable man. It motivated me to go to college and have my own source of income. That was the only solution for such sexist and stereotyping women. And smart. And yes I have had a lot of discrimination in my career. I'm just improving the path of womens' lives. Will pass the baton somewhere in the future. Am so proud of today's modern women!
What gets me is how the illegal gender discrimination laws are rarely enforced. A lot of women in the work force are still paid less than men for EXACTLY THE SAME WORK. So, WHERE is the so-called "equal opportunity"? And why is it so easy to get around these laws? They were enacted to ensure fair play.
‘Controversial’ would have been a better title than ‘hated’
The Tippi/ Hitchcock one got me. Looking at that picture of Tippi being attack by birds had become a true story... ol' Alfie WAS the damn birds!
