Forget about Sinatra in the rest Dino was the best
This is a stellar display of Dean's vocal styling and technique. There are so many subtle nuances and shading going on here that draw the listener in and convey so much emotion. The effortless transitions into the upper register, the phrasing of the words that convey so much emotion, the change in volume. He doesn't rush through it, but rather takes his time, caressing each phrase and note. He is in total control throughout. The orchestra seems to instinctively back off, get out of his way, and just let him do his thing. In fact, it has been removed from this video, but on the original album, the orchestra breaks into spontaneous applause when Dean finishes the song. This is one of the few recordings that somewhat captures the essence and feel of the "couch" ballads Dean used to perform on his TV shows. A brilliant performance.
