I agree 100%. I spend less and less time on IG. You Tube is a much more "satisfying" experience from a consumer perspective, learning SO much from others who generously share to the community aspect that YT offers which I truly appreciate! I learn something from every video you produce, Justin, and so grateful I found your channel! You are a trusted voice/ source.

I totally agree. I actually deactivated my Instagram because i fell into the “let’s do the next trendy reel” trap. Felt empty and creatively starved. I’m back on UA-cam and building slowly here. Feels much better

Instagram just became terrible for growth the last few years, I’m loving UA-cam and great to hear you’re enjoying it as well.

Just subscribed! I'm exploring the idea of transitioning my digital marketing skills into a more creative-driven path centered around photography and storytelling. Thanks for the inspiration, your channel has an awesome vibe.

Justin… well done & spot on approach and content.
Multi modality marketing is the only way to break through the distractions and noise.
Looking forward to your Part 2 video and I have a feeling a BTS “how to make oatmeal “ could be coming also .
I appreciate your humor, information, and inspiration.
    Ciao Dan

Really interesting. A lot of people have said it, but you break it down so well. Unless you already have a huge following before the changes went in to effect, it just doesn’t make a difference what you do.
I find I engage with larger creator on UA-cam as well as accounts that are very small. That rarely happens in IG. UA-cam is much more personal.
Great video and I’ve really been enjoying your channel the last year or so!

For a second there Justin, I thought you said you were gonna make your morning OPIUM. I was like wow, things sure are progressive in Vietnam :-) Hearing the truth about IG and its impact on your business will surely help folks.

Thanks for sharing all that, I think you're another drop in the bucket pushing me into UA-cam rather than spend much more time with IG. My big concern is that we don't have control over the UA-cam platform and there's no reason they couldn't do effectively the same thing - change their platform in a way that craters our audience engagement without conforming to the new trend.
We've seen this play out with blogs, Facebook, and now Instagram. Meanwhile TikTok, LinkedIn, and others nip at the heels and pull in their own sizable audiences. I guess my other thought is to try and understand who my audience is, and where they're gathering and focus my energies there.
Thanks again - maybe I'll make some trial runs at the video production and see what happens.

Your content is so very good, I'm having a hard time understanding why you don't have over 100K subscribers.

I appreciate that Debra. It’s been a slow and steady growth but I’m happy to have more engaged audience like yourself compared to blank followers . I’ve also noticed if you do mainstream camera gear reviews you can land tons of followers but I only review what I actually use :).

Instagram seems to be dead for most photographers. I have been considering starting a UA-cam channel, but first I need to focus on my website.
    Thanks for sharing, Justin :)

One question that popped into my head as I was hearing the video and that’s language.
I have a couple of half-baked ideas that might make it into a video but as a native Spanish speaker I wonder if making it in English could potentially alienate the local audience in favor of a larger foreign audience 🤔
    What’s your take on it?

    • @AskMOTT
      @AskMOTT  2 роки тому +1

I’d say go with what you’re gut tells you and what you’re comfortable with. True , English will reach more total people but also their are plenty of people who always want to consume content in Spanish as well and that could be a more targeted group for you.

Haha-use an #asmr microphone next time. Is that steel cut oatmeal?
Good advice-a friend said he felt that one you tube follower is equal to 10-100 insta followers.

I have been wanting to do youtube for years. I have all the gear even. But I keep putting it off. For thinking nobody wants to look at my mug
