    FYI...Nobody pays me to cover their rooms and I ask for no money from anyone to be featured in my videos.
    I only represent Bacch-SP by Theoretica Applied Physics and Viablue mentioned in this video. I'm a dealer for both, but these brands at this show were run by other dealers or the mfg themselves.

    Most enjoyable audiophile channel on UA-cam, for me.

    Thanks for everything that you do for the hobby! Been following you for years and have enjoyed seeing the evolution of the content you're putting out as your skills and relationships have grown! I still remember the looks in some room you were getting when YT coverage of shows was fringe. Oh how times have changed and love that you were there at the start and growing strong today!

      Yeah it's amazing how things have changed in the past few years.
      If I was a little cog in the wheel helping to change the way shows are covered, then I accomplished a main goal of the channel because I used to hate waiting a month for Stereophile or other online website reviews.

    I went to that show and bought 22 pieces of asc tube traps from an estate sale. These traps were loaned out to different rooms so i had to wait until the end of the show and come back with a uhaul. Possibly the best purchase for my room that ive made. Killer deal!

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 Місяць тому

      Definitely a killer deal, as well as a great benefit to the various manufacturer's demo rooms. 👍👍
      However, as I mentioned in another comment here, the PSI Audio AVAA active bass traps MIGHT be a more efficient and cost-effective solution, especially when WAF is a consideration. 😉
      For typical passive bass traps to be effective, they need to cover a large surface area and volume within the room, in addition to not always being able to place them in the ideal position(s) within the room in order for them to be most effective.
      And with all that, passive bass traps may still not effectively target the specific problem modal frequency or frequencies, and/or will over-damp the bass response in other areas while potentially trying to target and improve your room's specific modal issues.
      IOW, passive bass traps are like using a "spray & pray" shotgun when you really need the precise long-range accuracy of a sniper's rifle.
      Active bass trap systems such as the AVAA by PSI Audio will require exponentially less space and fewer obstructions in your listening room, and they are "tune-able" to the precise problem frequency or frequencies and modal issues of your room.
      If at all possible, I would highly recommend listening to a live demonstration of the AVAA active bass trap systems.
      When they are properly implemented, even using average loudspeakers or subwoofers, the improvement in the perceived midbass & bass detail, speed, articulation, and dynamics are impressive.

    My favorite part of the show was spending 90+ minutes talking to Mark Dohmann in the hallway on Sunday. Between that conversation and the sound at The Voice That Is room (the best analog playback I've ever heard in my life) it's got me thinking about how I could possibly afford a Helix 2 turntable.

      It's great to hear that so many audio product designers and vendors or manufacturers such as Mark are willing to take the time to engage with the public and their potential customers on a personal level to such a degree. :)

    Thanks Jason for the kind comments about Danville Signal and DSP. At this year's CAF demo, we wanted to show what a budding audiophile could do to start their journey. In our view, DSP can turn a good speaker into a great one. This is true with $1000 entry level Maggies as well as six figure loudspeaker systems. Al Clark - Danville Signal

      @AlClark-or1cb
      I wholeheartedly agree in regards to using active DSP to optimize multi-driver loudspeaker systems and room correction.
      I began using and taking advantage of the many benefits and flexibility of digital Pro Audio loudspeaker management processors such as the dbx DriveRack 480 and RANE RPM-88 in the mid-1990s for my various DIY loudspeaker projects.
      Even the old and inexpensive Behringer DCX2496 UltraDrive Pro that are still available for less than $300 can provide excellent results when properly implemented in comparison to the limitations of using passive crossover filter networks & components.
      As you well know, these types of digital loudspeaker management DSP products have improved exponentially over the years with the power and flexibility of units such as your own Danville DSP, and others such as the DEQX pro audio products.
      Many high end car audio companies such as Germany's Audiotec-Fischer HELIX & BRAX DSPs, Italy's Gladen/Mosconi Aerospace DSP, ZAPCO's HDSP, ARC Audio PS8 Pro & Blackbird, Alpine Electronics' F#1 STATUS DSP, and JL Audio's TwK-88 & VXi are (and have been) producing powerful multi-channel standalone DSP units as well as multi-channel combination DSP/Amplifier products.
      Many of these incorporate Real-Time Phase analysis and RTA software with direct DSP adjustment/correction software that integrate with multi-microphone measurement arrays to produce acoustic spatial average measurements while licensing and incorporating functionality from Rational Acoustics' Smaart v9 and REW measurement software.
      It's an amazing time to be a consumer or professional in the Audio and HiFi world!

    I’ll never afford a Bacch dsp… so I reckon it’s good I actually got good enough at acoustics that I can control/eq/fix the room and sound via acoustics.

    Bacch dsp, is this unit placed before a D/A converter in a seperates system or does it convert analog to digital first before doing room correction.

    • @AudiophileJunkie
      @AudiophileJunkie  Місяць тому

      Yes ... You can keep everything the same and just place it before your DAC.
      Or it can replace your DAC and preamp .. Plus any crossover you may use including the crossovers in your speakers.

    Have you found the amplifier in the Quad room and Bird of Pray tonearm worthy of a look? You seem to completely ignore it?

    • @AudiophileJunkie
      @AudiophileJunkie  Місяць тому

      It's tough to isolate electronics and frankly the speaker dominates what you hear far more than the amp as long as it's powerful enough to drive the speakers and isn't based on a "flavor" of distortion.
      The system as a whole sounded good so the amp deserves some credit of course, but I wouldn't buy it strictly based on what you hear in the video with this particular speaker.

    The Acoras I am sure are good. I love Val’s designs…But one observation I have is that they look like they were paired with over $100K of electronics. Is that a realistic system?

    • @AudiophileJunkie
      @AudiophileJunkie  Місяць тому +1

      No, but it shows the levels of performance you can get compared to big speakers that normally have the additional advantage of better electronics.
