Angelina wrote that she was truly moved by this song from Adele... She may have dedicated this to her grandma who recently diagnosed with serious illness and went under knife some weeks ago. Or your maybe right it could be her way of saying to the fans that we should be easy on her cause she's at the stage of her life where she's trying to find her identity as a teenager. To whoever or whatever she may be dedicating this song it must be something so important to her cause she just pour her everything into this song.
I agree that it was no coincidence Mery appeared in this. Angelina's Grandmother has been the one big artistic constant in all she's achieved to this point. It was very symbolic to see Mery put her head on Angelina's shoulder when it was the other way round as she grew up. It could also be simply showing Angelina's fans that her Grandmother is fine after her recent health problems. Folks should remember that Angelina can also pour emotion into a song like no other of her age. And the quality of her vocals is still improving. So I also think Angelina could've given a great performance regardless of what her motivation might have been. As for being a teenager, we've all experienced it and know how difficult it can be. With Mery and her family around she has a good loving structure around to help keep her grounded.

This young lady continues to amaze me with her talent and continues to hold a special place in my heart. I only wish her blessings of happiness in her life's journey.

That music cost her a marriage. Angelina knows she too will have difficulty with relationships; in Shield she asks forgiveness for this.

I never chose to be one of her Angels, but apparently I am. Daily listening to a couple of her performances, daily looking for meaningful (like yours!) or expert reactions, bit disappointed that she doesn't get as many views as she deserves ... bit disappointed that she is not as well known on the radio and television and other media as she deserves ...
But I do realize that she is only 15, still going to school. Just trying to find her adult identity ... Sure, I'll be easy on her! She should be a balanced, happy person in the first place! But OMG, do I admire this voice magician with her mysterious melancholy!

Angelina has said Adele is one of her favorite artists and she has covered Adele many times before. I do also believe Angelina felt a connection to the lyrics to this awesome song. I tear up each time seeing Angelina cuddling with her grandma Mery. Please go easy on Angelina and her family and allow them all the time they desire before they feel ready to have Republic Records promote her.

It's hard to say why Angelina chose this particular song. For me I see it as a message to ease up on the expectations and let things flow naturally with the person in mind. Very well executed. Fantastic , heartfelt reaction, Hap! 💜🎵💜🎵
I'm sure she has problems of her own that none of us know about. Her best friend, mentor and Grandma has just been through an ordeal that visibly shook Angelina. The loss of both her Grandfathers was just the start. Yes, I too feel that this isn't as much a 'cover' as it is an interpretation of her problems, and asking her fans and everyone else to, as you say, ease up on the expectations. I for one am always elated when I see a new snippet or video by her on Instagram or TikTok, but I also see a lot of comments that say things like "Wow, it's been a while" or "What have you been doing, you haven't posted in a while" when it was probably only several days. Yes, I think that's why she can sing with the emotion, like she does, not because she is attempting to interpret the original artists feelings, but showing us her own. Sorry for the long post when all I meant to say was that I agree with you. 😊

I think she was speaking to everyone who loves her music and want so much for her to succeed. "I had no time to choose what I chose to do" meaning music chose her and she has devoted her entire life to singing. Her world has revolved around her future career since 6 or even younger. It's like she has no choice but to "sing for the world" as she once stated. She was on this song as soon as it was released so it must have meant a lot to her and this is her way to say "just go easy on me".
She has performed several songs that I think are her way to communicate what she is feeling inside. God bless her.

I to was not a fan of Adele until I heard Angelina do some covers of her songs and now, I am a fan of AJ doing Adele covers. Angelina can cover anyone and make their songs an absolute dream work
Probably dedicated to her grandma who just had surgery and cancer scare (Angelina was a total wreck); but my take is that she is also asking her clamouring fans to go easy on her. A lot of us do, we want her to enjoy her life, but there are plenty of impatient fans out there. (You can’t really blame them, she is so very addictive!).
Adele has written a very beautiful, personal song, Angelina has taken the words and applied them to her own life, and we feel the words ❤👣🎶

If there was ever any doubt ...
I believe this song meets two important Angelina criteria. First, it really impacted her and second, it is a big song (the higher the degree of difficulty the better- and this one is quite high) from an iconic artist whom she respects (again, the bigger the better - and Adele is big). That then sets the stage for another step in Angelina's largely self-directed performance arts education trajectory which is to take on such a piece and with respect and class but without apology or compromise (and in her own way) take it to the next level. Mission accomplished!
She has been singing adult songs all her childhood. Even though she did not quite understand the full meaning of the song, she has had the ability to convey the feelings connected, and that is quite a mystery for us, and it makes her a unique artist. This was obvious after her rendition of Gloomy sunday at the age of 7. And Im still holding out for You, a few years later. When she was interviewed in a TV show when 12 she was asked about her age, and then replied that she did not feel like a kid. So she has a mindset fitting for an older person. Combined with an old Soul.

Some hardcore Adele fans seem to think that Angelina shouldn’t sing this song since she hasn’t gone through the divorce that inspired Adele’s songwriting. Jeeeez! We all sometimes feel that we fail to live up to expectations - our own or others - and need people to go a little easy on us. So there’s good songwriting and real art for you: It may tell you a little about being Adele, but it sure tells you a lot about being human.
More specific to Angelina: She was on television as a seven year old saying that she wanted to be a “star”. Eight years later she is still pursuing that dream, based on a decision she had no possibility of knowing the consequences of at the time. She chose before she’d had the time to choose. And even though she is doing exceptionally well, she probably has to answer every day about when the record is coming and why she isn’t already a household name all over the world. So yes, let’s all give her a break, just ease off on the pressure and enjoy all the wonderful music she has already given us. Let her be a teenager, grow into herself and find her own way.

Good reaction - you pose some good questions. Angelina, in my opinion, interprets the song it fit her own feelings. I'm sure that there are many elements, but for me, the main point just might be the often asked question - When is your album coming out? Angelina has made moves to further her career, fate (pandemic) has played a part, but basically things did not go to plan. We should back off with regards to any albums, we need to go easy on her...

For years now I am a Adele fan but my problems started when I listened to Angelina for the first time when she was doing cover songs of Adele. Suddenly Adele didn't sound so good any more after listen to Angelina. I have listen a few times to Adele singing this song but I agree with you, Angelina's version sound more sincere , soulful and draws you in. For me it was if Adele was more "performing " the song with not the feeling and emotions that I would expect singing her own song. Then there is the absurd laughing at the end of the song that undo the whole meaning of the song.

My thoughts: She has been putting her family through a lot since she auditioned and WON NGT. She was young and didn’t know the consequences of her talent. They dropped everything for her and sacrificed everything for her especially the move to L.A. All because she asked them to. In a “Million Miles” she asked them to forgive her for what she has done. Adele wrote this song to her son as an explanation for turning his world upside down with her devorce. Angie is asking for forgiveness from her family for all their sacrifices.

Not enough is said about how vital her grandma was in helping her to hear

(art and poetry) Angelina's grandma (Mery Zamani) knew it was possible that
specially gifted babies could absorb and process areas like musical songs far
earlier in life than most people thought possible. When Angelina sings a ballad
like this, I can hear nuance and inflections that were prominent in the singing
of jazz by Billie Holiday (old school jazz) and Amy Winehouse, the most uniquely
different jazz singer of all time. Adele is great, but it isn't possible for a non-jazz
singer to bring forth the passion that goes into the depths of the human soul like
a true jazz singer can. Angelina is the reigning Queen Of Jazz, having taken that

when I watched and listened to Adele's video, I got goosebumps. the video, the lyrics, and her singing tell me a personal story about her life. a personal story we all can relate to. then I listened to AJ's performance. wow, it's magnificent. she soars above all others with this cover. AJ really pours her heart into this performance. She uses everything in her repertoire of singing skills to show us what this song is about. Other great sing, but that's about it. Boring. Adele and AJ tells that story and I enjoy this song and especially this cover very much.

Yes, it is apparent that this song has a special meaning for Angelina. Maybe she is speaking to her fans and the people at the record company, asking them to be patient with her, to understand that she was "still a child" when she set out on her chosen path. Her journey to stardom might be more complex and demanding than she realized in the innocence of her childhood, more difficult than she expected. So go easy on her. We know what the song meant to Adele when she wrote it. I'm just guessing about what it might mean to Angelina.
You're right on about the emotion AJ transfers in this song. She had to make very hard choices when she was very young -- about her career, about her family. Think about how fast she had to grow up. She feels the lyrics of this song. And she is STILL young and making difficult choices about her music and her career.
If this song was dedicated to anyone it might be the fans, even though as fans I think we are a very accepting fan base of the fact she is a teenager and is feeling her way through life and the music business at the same time. However, watching her fan groups I could see that some people would criticize her if she wore makeup, or used filters in pictures, or she wanted to have her eyes blue, some were afraid she would sing pop songs instead of jazz. Also because we love Angelina's music we always want more, she had a time before she signed with Republic Records that she did not put out anything and the fans were making a vocal plead for music. I think she was busy writing songs for her new album. That we have not got to hear yet because of the pandemic. Teenagers have a hard time dealing with any criticism, much less hearing maybe 50 or more people in her fan pages. Even though there are thousands that are positive comments didn't we all focus on the negative ones when we were teenagers. Yes, we need to go easy on her.

The song is very beautiful and emotionally very personal to Adele, but I loved Angelina's ability, at her age, to be able to immerse herself so deeply into the soul of the song, with her usual naturalness and her unique and fascinating way of give it to us. Even the way she reassured us with the first shots of the video, of her grandmother's health, was done with infinite delicacy and sweetness. Her voice is truly enchanting and her ability to vary pitch, power and tempo so smoothly and elegantly during her performance is absolutely unique. I think that Adele has been a great source of inspiration for Angelina. There is a video showing Angelina singing "Rolling In the deep" at age 5. She's has been covering a couple of her songs since then the later after this one being "All I ask" ("Someone like you" "A million Years ago"; "Hello"; "Skyfall" "When we were young"; "Make you feel my love") :)

There are different reasons, why, absent fom the fact, that she loves Adele, she could have chosen this song. Maybe, she dedicates it to her Grandma, who got serious ill and has just had a successful surgery. 2nd: Adels sang this song for her child, to explain, why she divorced. Angelina also knows that, because allegedly her parents are not together anymore. So maybe she identified with Adeles son. Or maybe her mother heard Adeles song and said : well explained (just speculation). Angelina put the first shortened cover on TicToc a few hours, after Adele had released it. So it seemed to be quite important for her. 3rd: Angelina has always been kind of an empath, who can feel people. So maybe, she was just hit by this song...

Could it be that while this song is about Adele Who wrote it..Angelina also saw similarities in it that apply to herself.
She was just a child..didn't get a chance to just be a normal kid..after all..shes been performing in all parts of the world since she was 7 or 8.
I think she is singing about her own experiences as well as portraying one of her Idols experience in Adele.

I shudder to think how her life would have been if her family had not been firm in their decision to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and see that she received a good education. There are parents out there who only see the $$$ signs.

Hey Hap3 it has been a minute. These are no longer girls they are becoming women. Angelina is growing her talent. She still gets to your heart. What power in that voice and those transitions are smoothing out. actually it is for her grand ma who has cancer and had a tumor removed and is doing well. She would be devastated with that one. That's why you see grandma and Angelina hugging each other in the chairs at the beginning. Where just a few years ago grandma was the refuge now it is Angelina's turn to be the refuge.In either case it is what the is supposed to provide. To be that source of love and comfort that we all need. A beautiful song that captures our fragility . And the strength in numbers and love the family was meant to be.

I'm so sick of people likening her to Amy Winehouse! Ugh! It must be the hair and those times Angelina mimics Amy. So they both tapped into an older era feel. But Angelina is SO far beyond AW's actual ability or performances. Amy Winehouse didn't invent vocal fry. It's likely because Winehouse was known before Angelina, (age) and then because of her troubled and destructive life/death, that people make the "connection." I've never heard Amy Winehouse sing anything with anywhere near the power or soul as Angelina. Nope.
