Utterly wonderful gentlemen! Full of humour and talent. Amazing sights at every place. Hard to pick a favourite. Well done to those repairing the Cavaillé-Coll in Luçon Cathedral. I feared we would see but not hear this masterpiece but were were not disappointed.
As an amateur historian I had read of the peasant revolt setting up a 'free state' in Münster and its sad grisly aftermath. Cannot wait for the upload of Ad Nos it will have been special in that resonant space.
I hope Jonathan bought the sparkly multicoloured organ shoes!

Thank you Gents for the personal memories you have awakened with you organr "travel" videos.
Being a retired organist (85) I have wonderful memories of playing the great organs of Europe over 50 years. The most interesting on this video was the 3 decker in France with the "extended" stops providing what looked like a much larger organ, at first glance. The acoustic of the church was , of course, the "tour de force"!
Sorry about Nantes Cathedral Organ repair, the 32 foot pedal Bombard was the first in Europe and is still......quite a force to be reckoned with. regards
    Chris. Australia..

I still love watching you guys do these video tours - so to speak - of places where you're doing concerts. It's my trip-tik around the European countryside from my easy chair and behind the computer monitor. You guys do more walking than anybody I know. Good thing you're both reasonably young and energetic. Really enjoy watching and then whenever you post the concert videos, I get to see the whole concert in various places. And these videos are just great fun with Jonathan's occasional verbal input but Tom's wry sense of humor. Keep up the great work gentlemen. Cheers mates.

Thanks for uploading the wonderful vlog!
I’m thrilled to be able to travel the world with you both. The view from the spire of St. Lamberti Church is just breathtaking!
It’s amazing to listen to Jonathan playing the organ while imagining the stories behind the place’s history.
Of course, I love the organ, but I’m also a big fan of Jonathan’s piano playing. The "Vocalise" piece makes me want to cry along with Tom.
Also, Tom’s "Nightingale" performance is so charming; it makes the audience look for the nightingale within the church.
En fait, vous parlez très bien français!!

It takes a lot of breath to climb that many stairs. Imagine climbing with that heavy bell to the top of the cathedral. The landscapes are beautiful and so are the churches and their pipe organs. These are heritage sites that must be preserved very well. You adapt and move very easily from one place to another, which is good. It is not a task for everyone, in fact, for very few. Congratulations! Very beautiful videos and photos. We await videos of the songs played. 🔔🎶🎹🐦😊💯🙌👋🙋‍♀

Great whistle stop tour and beautiful pictures, thank you. I recognised the lemon yellow church towards the end as the Neanderkirche in Düsseldorf. I also tried twice to get in when I was in the city briefly five years ago for a conference, and it was shut then too. Joachim Neander was the author in his short life of many hymns including “Praise ye the Lord the Almighty the king of creation”. Some time following 1942 RAF damage, the old part of Düsseldorf was rebuilt, but as a copy or pastiche of the old - an attractive thing to do in my view but a crime disdained by British architects, where our historic cities similarly suffered considerable damage, firstly by the Luftwaffe in the 1940s, and subsequently by 1960s architects.

    • @epincion
      @epincion 4 місяці тому

Why was rebuilding in the old style ‘a crime?’ It was what the residents wanted. You may be aware that the rebuilding of the historic center of Leipzig including the famous Mother Church was only started after the reunification of East and West Germany and the German architects of that huge project did exactly the same.

Dear Gents. I fo got to mention one "consideration": you could ponder !
This may seem absurd in the face of the grand pipe organs you preside over, BUT, how about a modern digital one in a good ( 30-4 second) acoustic just to "get with the times.
This is probably an unpalatable thought , but consider the number of "alternative" organs that reside in so many churches
.Even I bought an English "Makin" Organ some 32 years ago to practice on at home, so true were its tonalities ?
    Get with it"....if I can.....anybody can !
having suggested this I shall probably raise the "ire" of many purists ?
You won't lose face...just broaden attitudes,, give it a try !.Chris Australia.
