Nice information! I’ve had success pollinating flowers around 7PM and forcing them open with my hand. The fruit are nice and large... Fresh pollen is key too. Do you make a mixed bowl of pollen when you cross pollinate your varieties?
We had to close shop this year for the month of October to recover from Hurricane Delta and begin winter prepping our Dragon's. We will reopen next month, that's just a few weeks away.
Thanks for sharing this great info! Have you tried polinating a flower even when it has not open yet by sticking the brush into the close flower? Do you think it’s a bad idea?
Depending on your climate...The ground "concrete" may create to much radiate heat for the soil/roots. If it's required, add space or some sort of insulator between the pot and ground.

Usually between 10PM and 11PM and yes, the fruit is one third to half a size larger. The fact that our mother plant is at ideal maturity time is also helping with the size fruit.
Hey just wanted to let you know your website is acting up not sure what’s going on with it but when you click on a variety all the words are overlapping and jumbled together

Do you have any species that bud around April ?may? Or early June? I have three species currently Haley's comet, David Bowie, and natural mystic. I usually miss the first two flowering on the Halley's comet as I have nothing to cross pollinate it with until mid June when the natural mystic opens followed shortly by David Bowie. I love the Halley's comet when I hand pollinate every single one takes, it's by far the heaviest producer so far. Would really love to cross pollinate for the first two flowering.. unfortunately since I purchased Haley's comet it recently came out 4years ago that it is so sterile .
No books cover a variety of names. You can find a few books that cover the different species. Research papers cover different varieties and they are available for free, just search on the web.
Very cool Video lots of wonderful info
Thank you for the great advice look forward to see more product on your website
This is a very interesting development. I guess it could still be "luck" but I think you are correct !
Thanks for the awesome Tip!!!!
Wow ..so much to learn with dragon fruit ...so you recommend hand pollination for better results even though the plan is self pollinating
Absolutely! Fresh pollen too.
Excellent tip!

Correct. I usually start with a self-fertile type then work my way around.

We have and we do not think it's a bad idea. Some varieties and the time of your will be better with that process compared to others.

What time do you usually pollinate you’re Ohana Express? Can this finding help to improve the fruit size you have gotten? 🤔
Usually between 10PM and 11PM and yes, the fruit is one third to half a size larger. The fact that our mother plant is at ideal maturity time is also helping with the size fruit.
What is the required sunlight for dragon fruit? There is a huge building shade in my garden from 2pm.
Full sun, 8 hours or more is ideal
Remove the building
