How does this video only have 237 views? I'm a huge fan of Nora Volkow and her counterpart at NIAAA George Koob. I have been getting my head around the neuroscience of addiction. I am in recovery. I have been sober now for almost 4 months. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with COPD which I discovered when questioning with my GP (doctor) why I was able to still smoke 2 or 3 cigarettes a day but cough when I vaped. It turns out that big tobacco have spent a fortune developing a product which delivers its drug very efficiently and in a way my lungs can tolerate. Tobacco is arguably the only product that kills 50% of its long term users when used as intended.
I am in the UK where vaping is more tightly regulated. The Royal College of Physicians have stated that vaping is 95% safer than smoking. Our vape liquid is submitted to the MHRA with a toxicology report of the ingredients in its liquid and heated (vaped) state. I have tried to quit smoking many times without success. I now vape and admit that I am still vaping alot of nicotine. I intend ultimately to stop vaping and have already been reducing the nicotine in my liquid.
Thankyou for your balanced and fair assesment of vaping and not being swept up in the anti vaping hype. I loathe big tobacco. Interesting that the USA youth think that vaping is cool thanks to the tactic employed by JUUL of deliberately targetting young people. Not a coincidence I think that a company partially owned by big tobacco is back to its old tricks. Vaping should be an alternative to smoking not a lifestyle choice. Yes regulate it. Why not tax it but at a rate comparable to its demonstrable harm. Tobacco and alcohol kill over 30,000 people EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'll take the minimal vaping risk every day.
