Four years ago, I found this video. Four years ago, I began playing piano. Three years ago, I began writing my own amateur pieces. Two years ago, I began playing them for people. One year ago, I began to play whatever first came to mind. Today, I am proud to say, I have nearly reached this level of expression. Thank you, for being my inspiration. Honestly, I made this comment to pay respect and express gratitude. It really doesn't make a difference to me whether you think it's credible or not. That being said, have a nice day.
I've also been playing piano, for roughly 4 or 5 years. Can't improvise as well as this guy. I just usually memorize pieces. Good job. Keep playing piano.
Youthanasia after 4 years you might have the technique and expression, but not the skill. For this type of skill you would have needed to play piano for much longer.
Daniel Nayebhashem this is why i’m skeptical of the people above. I’ve also peen playing for close to 10 years now, and to have this kind of skill in improvisation it would make many more than just 4 years of piano playing.
+Maran Nebbeling He most likely just has his favorite chord progressions and style that he somewhat repeats whenever he is improvising similar to how freestyle rappers have certain lines that they throw in even when it isnt a pre written song
Theodor Dalseth Yes, but in piano fast = impressive. Fast arpeggio's while not grouping them together in galloping form is incredibly difficult. Per example, that's why moonlight sonata 3rd mov. or things like revolutionary etude are way more difficult in technical sense than for example moonlight sonata 1rd mov. Even though you can argue it's more difficult for some people due to the feeling you have to put into the piece.
+DrCoke217 I've played for 4 years now and I do have an idea. I'm nowhere near his level but I can imagine 4 more years and I might be. The speed isn't the thing that hits me the most more the accuracy. once that's down the speed itself doesn't matter that much.
+DrCoke217 I've only played piano for 1 year and it isn't surprising at all to me. Don't say you've played for 8 years unless you've been practicing hard the whole time; you lose credibility otherwise. After a year of hard practice, this level of piano playing isn't far away whatsoever. In 8 years, gee, I'll probably be playing Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto (Though, certainly not doing it much justice, interpretation wise). I dislike when people talk about how many years they've been playing piano yet fail to mention that they don't practice everyday/multiple times a week.
+Gabriel Maisonet I do practice everyday for 8 years, but it requires more than 8 years of piano playing experience to play Rachmaninov's Concerto No. 3. Anyone can say they've been playing for a year, but it takes a while to have an understanding of all parts of music including music theory. Playing the piano for only a year doesn't grant you the right to accuse me of not practicing what I love doing with my life. A year's experience of playing the piano also does not give you credibility for criticizing anyone's skill level whether you know them or not. Have a nice day. :)
Beautiful. You’re one of the few pianists that actually composes real piano music and not just improvising chords. Nice melody and harmony. So nice to not be the only one.
+Johann Sebastian Bach Exactly what I thought, too! Parts were very reminiscent of my favorite Chopin piece "Revolutionary" Etude. The emotion and drama abounds in Mr. Pelsey's playing. Wonderful!
+Johann Sebastian Bach If he spends a lifetime learning and performing them while learning how to interpret the greats, it's near inevitable he'll play in their styles.
+Aurelye venegas that's like saying I feel shitty about my football skills because I'm not good as Cristiano Ronaldo. He obviously a pro player. Don't feel shitty, just practice.
Can Ünan it's 'futbol' but anyways you're right. Though I'm still envious because I'm not close to even playing as fast as he does, but I'm working on it haha.
This is my favorite style of piano! Why? Because it is truly once in a lifetime! Never to be repeated exactly ever again. It's the truest art of letting go! Now obviously this was recorded so it can be. But when you're alone just jamming is the best! Sometimes you improv something so beautiful you wish you did record... Yet you are forced to just let it go and drift into the universe.
I'm 16 years old, my parents made me do 6 years of piano and I still can't do shit I'm just lazy and just don't really care that much, I prefer listening to people doing it that do it myself lol

SerpentEater You have put sentences and sayings together in the past... improv does that too... it's about how you put these abstract chains together that makes it improv.
His technique is good. He sounds classically trained and the improv is impressive and showy, but it isn't groundbreaking. He stays in C minor pretty much the entire time, occasionally throwing in the harmonic minor by messing around with G major a bit. Sounds like the majority of the improv was inspired by the techniques studied in Chopin's Revolutionary Etude (Op 10 No 12. Look up Evgeny Kissin's interpretation if you have the chance). That being said, this pianist has outstanding technique. Personally, I would like to hear how he interprets pieces from some of the Romantic greats.
When you get really used to where the notes are it can actually be easier to play with your eyes closed (so you can focus more on the sound). There are a lot of famous blind pianists.
