You are absolutely right...
Jokes on you. I watch 4 hours a day
Four years ago, I found this video. Four years ago, I began playing piano. Three years ago, I began writing my own amateur pieces. Two years ago, I began playing them for people. One year ago, I began to play whatever first came to mind. Today, I am proud to say, I have nearly reached this level of expression. Thank you, for being my inspiration.
Honestly, I made this comment to pay respect and express gratitude. It really doesn't make a difference to me whether you think it's credible or not. That being said, have a nice day.
I've also been playing piano, for roughly 4 or 5 years. Can't improvise as well as this guy. I just usually memorize pieces. Good job. Keep playing piano.
Youthanasia after 4 years you might have the technique and expression, but not the skill. For this type of skill you would have needed to play piano for much longer.
True I’ve been playing for ten and I probably don’t have as much skill as this guy
Daniel Nayebhashem this is why i’m skeptical of the people above. I’ve also peen playing for close to 10 years now, and to have this kind of skill in improvisation it would make many more than just 4 years of piano playing.
I highly highly Highly doubt thats a true story
Ha lol, I did this...

Jesus christ... If this is really improv, then I feel REALLY bad about my improvs lol. Amazing, especially the clean as hell galloping & arpeggios
+Maran Nebbeling Ah, I just found another version of 2013 where he plays practically the same thing. Still an amazing performance nonetheless
+Maran Nebbeling He most likely just has his favorite chord progressions and style that he somewhat repeats whenever he is improvising similar to how freestyle rappers have certain lines that they throw in even when it isnt a pre written song
Phillip Gibson yeah exactly, i agree. Although this theme is mostly thought out already, over which he plays his own licks like you said
+Phillip Gibson not only that, but its mostly octaves and fast chromatics and arpeggios. It only seems impressive because it's fast.
Theodor Dalseth Yes, but in piano fast = impressive. Fast arpeggio's while not grouping them together in galloping form is incredibly difficult. Per example, that's why moonlight sonata 3rd mov. or things like revolutionary etude are way more difficult in technical sense than for example moonlight sonata 1rd mov. Even though you can argue it's more difficult for some people due to the feeling you have to put into the piece.
I love how this is listed in the "Sports" category... this actually requires so much athleticism and endurance 😅
John Gehrt dude, my hand would’ve cramped in the first 10 seconds if it could even move as fast as his!
Are you jokeing
a lot of brain power as well
Maybe not a sport, but I can assure you he possesses more talent in those two hands than you do your entire body.
There's some really nice parts and then there's the parts where you feel you're about to be attacked

Oh my god the emotion in this is absolutely gorgeous
When i do the same thing it sounds like crap
Dan P maybe your piano is out of tune
Omg are you German or is it also called like this in England? xD
Yeah :) It's just weird because the ü is pronounced differently in Germany and the only English word with that is doppelgänger
So practice more
Dan P it depends how well you know the notes. You'll know which notes sound good together. Then, go with the flow.
Was this a great improv? Yes it was
Do I feel shitty about my improvs? Very..
+Aurelye venegas lol
+Aurelye venegas that's like saying I feel shitty about my football skills because I'm not good as Cristiano Ronaldo. He obviously a pro player. Don't feel shitty, just practice.
Can Ünan it's 'futbol' but anyways you're right. Though I'm still envious because I'm not close to even playing as fast as he does, but I'm working on it haha.
+Aurelye venegas futbol in spanish not english
+Aurelye venegas It isn't an improv
Psssh easy, I can play this with my eyes closed...
Because I'd be dreaming that is
What if his eyes were closed O_O
When you get really used to where the notes are it can actually be easier to play with your eyes closed (so you can focus more on the sound). There are a lot of famous blind pianists.
This is so fake!! It doesn't even sound like a guitar! Plus, did you see that dog?!! It was obviously working the foot pedals!

This guy had a seizure on a keyboard and created a masterpiece
exactly lol
when you forget to take your Adderol for a couple days
Lana Rose a keyboard is cheap in electrical otherwise this is a piano expensive and beautiful
Justin Galligan a piano has keys, those keys collectively are called a keyboard. I'm referring to the keys on the piano
next time you're referring to keys on a piano refer to them as keys not a keyboard cuz people can get mixed up between the two
I am feeling a combination of Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff styles.
+Johann Sebastian Bach Hello God, it's a pleaseure to comment you.
+Johann Sebastian Bach for sure strong rachmaninoff vibes
God is alive.
+Johann Sebastian Bach Exactly what I thought, too! Parts were very reminiscent of my favorite Chopin piece "Revolutionary" Etude. The emotion and drama abounds in Mr. Pelsey's playing. Wonderful!
+Johann Sebastian Bach If he spends a lifetime learning and performing them while learning how to interpret the greats, it's near inevitable he'll play in their styles.
Have watched this at least 50 times now
awesome!!
That madness styles from Liszt , emotional movement from Chopin and crazy piano crackings from Rachmaninoff. 😱😱😱
Christian Simangca it’s not really mad enough for Liszt.
I've been playing the Piano for eight years, and i still don't know how someone is able to move their hands, wrists, and fingers that fast.
Same here bud, same here
+DrCoke217 Lots of fapping.
+DrCoke217 I've played for 4 years now and I do have an idea. I'm nowhere near his level but I can imagine 4 more years and I might be. The speed isn't the thing that hits me the most more the accuracy. once that's down the speed itself doesn't matter that much.
+DrCoke217 I've only played piano for 1 year and it isn't surprising at all to me. Don't say you've played for 8 years unless you've been practicing hard the whole time; you lose credibility otherwise. After a year of hard practice, this level of piano playing isn't far away whatsoever. In 8 years, gee, I'll probably be playing Rachmaninoff's third piano concerto (Though, certainly not doing it much justice, interpretation wise). I dislike when people talk about how many years they've been playing piano yet fail to mention that they don't practice everyday/multiple times a week.
+Gabriel Maisonet I do practice everyday for 8 years, but it requires more than 8 years of piano playing experience to play Rachmaninov's Concerto No. 3. Anyone can say they've been playing for a year, but it takes a while to have an understanding of all parts of music including music theory. Playing the piano for only a year doesn't grant you the right to accuse me of not practicing what I love doing with my life. A year's experience of playing the piano also does not give you credibility for criticizing anyone's skill level whether you know them or not. Have a nice day. :)
Kyle landry needs a gopro

Martha Argerich needs à gopro ;)
I need a gopro... Okno just kidding
+sebastian manay same

Beautiful. You’re one of the few pianists that actually composes real piano music and not just improvising chords. Nice melody and harmony. So nice to not be the only one.
Why is there so few people writing shit that’s epic nowadays, this man just made an improv the most epic shit
Behold! Ladies and gentlefish, this is what it will look like if you too know how to properly tickle a piano.

The 798 people who disliked this video, couldn't even find the C key without being told.
Blake B. Rekt
Blake B. Well, I can and I disliked it
I didn't dislike, but I didn't like either. Just something bothering me. A lot of technique, but not so much actual harmony. This is romantic harmony WITHOUT the ambiguity that turns romantic music beautiful, like in Chopin, Brahms, Mahler, Berlioz, etc. When listening to it, you always know where you are, very clear, very solid, but with tons and more tons of insane technique. The biggest moment of this insane improv was the moment when he modulate from C minor to Db lydian which is in F minor, they are neighbors. Harmonic minor feels so epic though, it's a beautiful playground for a pianist with years of experience. But why doesn't he goes further? He clearly has the technique! We have 100 years of debussy, schoenberg, stravinsky. Also.. jazz, there's 100 years of the richest harmony content implanted in our minds. Why don't go further? What is holding him? I think he just wanna be accessible for the simple public and do an epic impressive thing instead of actually go insane.. that's why I didn't like, but also can't dislike because he is good. really good.
Maemi No Yume you are comparing a piece of improvisation to well written classical masterpieces i think that is a bit unfair considering he is making this up as he goes along classic music has 100's of hours put into it and this piece is made up lets see you do that please and then i will compare you to beethoven and chopin.
Blake B. LMAO
Now, do it backwards
No comment?
Scary thing is he probably can.

"random" yea sure mate.
go learn this shit 10 years
strictxilentdubstep dude wtf i said it looks like hes pressing random keys. I never said it was bad
it kinda is random because its an improvisation.
He is, I suppose the difference is he is so used to proper chords and progressions and the commonalities you find in piano music that he can play randomly and make it sound good, although it's not truly random. I'm definitely no great pianist but just about everything he played was recognizable, not because he ripped it off but it's just the structure almost all piano music follows.

That transition at 3:24, by far my favorite part
I always wondered why this video sounded so familiar, and then I went through some old songs. I relistened to Butterflies & Hurricanes by Muse, which came out 11 years ago, and around the 3 minute mark, when piano comes in, it sounds very similar to his improv. So, now I can rest easy knowing that's where I most likely heard this before.

This is my favorite style of piano! Why? Because it is truly once in a lifetime! Never to be repeated exactly ever again. It's the truest art of letting go!
Now obviously this was recorded so it can be.
But when you're alone just jamming is the best! Sometimes you improv something so beautiful you wish you did record... Yet you are forced to just let it go and drift into the universe.
Sheet music pls?
reason: just bc **challenge accepted**
Learn it by ear.
Corto Maltese how?!?
Same way you'd freestyle; listen to the melody, find out how it flows on the keys, and practice. Doesn't need to be perfect, and doesn't need to be an exact replica of what he does; add your own spin and melodies to it.
It’s improv there isn’t sheet music
Noob of Everything once you figure out the basis of the chords he uses and the key he plays in your Golden. Be as fancy as you like/can be.
