I love Rebecca Caine's voice. I do wish their were more excerpts of her Toronto run 1989-1992 because by then she had developed to a full voiced lyric soprano with beautiful rich tones - much darker tones than the usual Christine but it worked splendidly. Hands down the best Christine I ever saw live on stage.

She was the original Cosette in the premiere of Les Mis and then she took over from Sarah Brightman in Phantom.

No, she didn't take "over" from Sarah Brightman. She was the second (alternate) Christine after Claire Moore (the original alternate), who is the one who took over from Sarah Brightman. So third in line, really, though she did then recreate the role in the Canadian production and was 1st cast Christine there.

Lupo,it doesn't really matter if she was "second or third in line",it doesn't alter the fact that she joined the cast following Brightman's departure.

Amy Baker Amy, "taking over" is one thing, "joining the cast after the departure of ..." is another. And are not, linguistically interchangeable, since you want to be a stickler.
So Ms Caine did not infact take over from Ms Brightman and in truth, it's also incorrect to say that she joined after Ms Brightman's departure, because as it turned out, the latter came back for a period of time during which Ms Caine was alternate to Ms Brightman (Claire Moore was away getting married and on a prolonged honeymoon, all the while).
These are the facts. I thank you

The photo of Christine with Raoul (MIchael Ball) is not Rebecca Caine but Claire Moore!
