To be fair, it's an old world tool in seemingly good, workable condition, that holds a niche but important purpose, while being something you can fuel on a [relatively] common form of ammunition.
yeah it would be like that if people did get it so early on in a play through, but seeing as most get it towards then end of the New Vegas playthroughs its worthless other than good money as it sells for way more than its worth.
FNV never ceases to amaze me to amaze me not only in terms of the story, but also gameplay depth. I’ve always been confused about arc welder’s purpose, but you managed to figured out a way of utilizing it that makes so much sense and made me realized that I’ve underestimated how thoughtful this game could be.
The purpose is to be accommodating to all player builds. Consider these scenarios: you make this highly effective explosives-based character and jump into Lonesome Road at level 25, but you're not psychic, and you don't think to pack a ton of pulse grenades for the first area. You have this unarmed build but leave Paladin Toaster at home. Crits and armor-piercing ammo can help energy/guns users respectively but melee, unarmed and explosives-based characters would really struggle getting through the first silo if they were playing the DLC for the first time. So they "fixed" this by offering a purposefully bulky, inefficient weapon that is only useful with the bonus damage against robots and from a short range. The intention was always to just use it in the silo if you struggle piercing the armor of the sentry bots, and then sell it. Old World Blues hands you some weapons at the start. Honest Hearts provides you a variety of weapons when your caravan is attacked (although energy weapon ammo is incredibly scarce). The only DLC where they don't really give you viable options for every combat playstyle is Dead Money, and I think that is one of the reasons it is incredibly polarizing.
@@holidaypenguin wdym with Dead Money? Other having to use guns to take care of speakers, I found that pretty much any combat style is viable, you just have to look properly or engage with crafting if you're running an explosives build.

Still waiting for the Fllout NV as the Medic run (i love all your content im not trying to be mean)
Every play Borderlands? There's PLENTY of bad legendary and unique weapons you could cover lmao
The Eridian weapons from Borderlands 1 immediately spring to mind, as does the Bane from Borderlands 2
the latter doesn't count because it's a joke weapon
@@sweetypuss it's still bad, and it's still a weapon lol
EDE, imma need you to give him ammo ans fix his gun a lot
Make a video on the Medic in FNV already
the reason why the arc welder is bad is bc its a welder not a gun
Another NV BWA HELL YEAH!!
Glad to be here early
YES YES FINALLY YES
