so Ive been messing around with this calculator for these drums. And also the thickness of the playing board determines pitch. The thinner your tongues are, less long your tongue's need to be to be low. I've been thinking about marimba keys, they are thin in the middle and thick on the ends, maybe that will make the drum more resonant if you thin down the middle of each tongue beforehand

All of those are variations on the tone
Nicely informational tuning and crafting video, thank you. You have a beautifully striking unique ring as well!
How did you figure out how long the tongues have to be ?
I did lots of research and if you rewatch the video you’ll see the measurements I use for the tongues
If you cut them at the correct size do you not have to tune them after?
Never mind just finished the video and you answered my question :)
In theory, yes, but wood is a natural medium and each section can have different weight flexibility and produce different sounds.
@@DIYHGP 😁 thanks, good to know
por favos medidas y grosor despues de lijar. y medidas definitivas de lenguetas
Interesting. I have never heard of a tongue drum.
Until recently, I had not either, but here it is. A great instrument for a child, as it can take a lot of abuse.
