A song that tells of the province and the people that I hold dear to my heart. Living in Saskatchewan there is much to be thankful for.

    Lyrics:
The beauty that my granddad saw it still remains
From northern forests, lakes and streams down to the rolling plains
Land etched by rivers that flow gently past wheat fields standing tall
A canvas rich with color changes with seasons from winter to fall
Saskatchewan land of endless prairie skies so blue
Your sunrise takes away my breath just as your sunsets do
Born here I choose to stay you’ll never find me far away
Here’s where I feel free wide open spaces beckon me Saskatchewan
The spirit of the pioneer it lives to this day
An honest handshake the hard work’s done that’s just the prairie way
When times get tough they pull together to see you through
That’s what this province is known for, it’s what they gladly do
Saskatchewan land of endless prairie skies so blue
Your sunrise takes away my breath just as your sunsets do
Born here I choose to stay you’ll never find me far away
Here’s where I feel free wide open spaces beckon me Saskatchewan
Friendly faces, country I love to roam
You say you’d call it a dream..I call it home
Saskatchewan land of endless prairie skies so blue
Your sunrise takes away my breath just as your sunsets do
Born here I choose to stay you’ll never find me far away
Here’s where I feel free wide open spaces beckon me Saskatchewan

I was born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, married my husband Clint there & our 2 boys were born in Prince Albert.
Powell River BC called to us in the late 60's for a better job where we were employed and now in our retirement years we live in Nanaimo. Saskatchewan has always lived in our hearts and we have gone "back home" every year or two for many years; and,we are going again this year for the Rose Valley High School Reunion.
Thank you for the beautiful song Cathy Graham. :) ~ Ona Petersen Head

Having grown up in a log cabin in Porcupine Plain, a small rural community in northeast Saskatchewan, the memories of my old home province almost brought tears to this old guy's eyes. I will be going up there in May to see my 94 year old mother and sister's family along with renewing the pleasures of traveling this great prairie province.

I guess I didn't mention, I now live in Middleton, Wisconsin but have lived in a number of places in the US. I just returned from 5 weeks in Slidell Louusiana on Lake Pontchartrain. The photography in the video is superb and like someone else mentioned it should be used in a promotional for Saskatchewan. I always enjoy the fresh air and the vegetative quilt of blue flax, yellow canola and the various small grain shades. I will be driving up in May or June with my top down!!

Once I lived beside Pacific Ocean, once I lived beside Lake Okanagan, Now I live beside the Prairie Sea, she is everything to me beautiful and free. Born in Sask.. and after decades have returned to the land where it is never too cold, never too much snow.. things have changed, but the skies and the wind remain and that is good enough for me. Love this song and artist.

You don't think Saskatchewan is "never too cold, and never too much snow"? Not sure what you call -40C and below, but to me that is WAY too cold! LOL As a kid when I was there visiting in the winter from BC or Alberta, it was so cold and so dry, my lungs ached with each intake of breath, even though I was all bundled up, including my face. Always refused to go back there in the winter. I've been there in the summer, it's doable, although the climate is still too dry for me.

They have the nicest people in the whole world...I live in North Bay, Ont... will be packing up and leaving this summer too head back west. This song and these pictures make me so 'homesick'.... I am shedding many tears right now...

Beautiful song, I am from BC but one can not deny themselves such beautiful description of Sakabush, I could visualize Anne Murray making this a big hit.

    • @TraceyKHouston
      @TraceyKHouston 5 років тому +1

      The thing is...
      1) Anne Murray is from Nova Scotia, she never lived in Saskatchewan, and...
      2) She retired from music a few years ago.
Cathy is perfect for this song, has a perfect voice for it, and does it beautifully.

    • @TraceyKHouston

    • @wheelzwheela

I agree about Anne Murray. This would fit her voice perfectly and would have had major radio play. Tracey in the comments doesn’t know what she’s talking about... first off you never said Anne was from Saskatchewan only that she would do a good version which she would also this isn’t even Cathy’s voice (although she wrote the song she hired someone to sing it).
