‪George Church is an American geneticist, molecular engineer, and chemist. Currently, he is the Robert Winthrop Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard and MIT.‬
‪The Max Birnstiel Lectures are named after the founding director of the IMP and an invitation is considered the highest award that the IMP can give to outside scientists.‬‬
