    Loved your lesson and your song selection. I'd love to see more videos on helping with the "chuck" strum. From Lancaster, PA -- a beginner uke player.

    Maaaan, I loved your videos! And i love this song!
    I bought my uke about 2 weeks ago and i'm trying to learn how to strum correctly. When it seem to be right, i can't sing and play all together, LOL!
    Do you have some lesson about how to strum the uke? Maybe some exercises.
    Thanks for your videos! They
    I'm grateful for them!

      Bruna Green it sounds like you are making some progress, and I am so glad to be of help. I would suggest you check out my basic strumming lessons for guitar, all the same stuff applies to your ukulele. First learn the basics - Strumming whole notes, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 and 1/16th notes. Understand that anything more rapid than a quarter note should include down/up strokes and that all strumming patterns are simply strumming down and up, with some notes subtracted out...this is why we have double downs and ups, your simply skipping some areas of the measure. Hope that helps, more lessons are coming soon!

    D is tough one for me. I try to hit 2 2 2 0 with my middle finger and skip the pinky. Is that bad form?

    Thank you for this - i wonder how you might change this for a low-G set-up?

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  10 років тому

      Sal Coraccio III I've never played it with a low G set up, but I don't think it would change things to much. I'm sure having a bassier note in the bottom end won't lend itself to every chord, so it might be best to switch in some barred shapes. Great question, I'd like to try that. -Rob

    • @Kakubeki
      @Kakubeki 10 років тому

      swiftlessons It's quite good as is with the low-G, the AMaj impacted the most - but I think it mellows the thing out a bit. The Cordoba's lovely resonance shines through (I have the 25TK-CE).
      As an aside, I struggle with the barre chords - stings seem to hit in the low spaces every time. I can compensate on the B7 by using my thumb on the G-string and fingers 1 & 2 on the A&E strings then the ring-finger on the C... (I know, right?) but that D-Major - GAH.
      I'll sand down the saddle on the next string change to lower the action - might help. Or make it tougher. I don't know for sure - it won't make a big difference on the second fret anyway. /ramble off - thanks for the reply and thank you again for the fine lesson.

    It’s fine but it’s easier if you show pictures with the notes since some of us don’t know what G or C or E7 mean.

    Nice vocals along with the lesson, enjoyed both. I'm looking at a Cordoba 25CK uke and am wondering what you think of the one you have. Having played one for a while yourself, would you recommend the Cordoba brand to others? Yours sounds very good to me.....

      Hey Luca Viktor, not that I have ever found. I would say check out some of the cheaper Lanakai ukuleles. Kala and Cordoba are also very good brands, any of their $85-$150 dollar ukes will last you a lifetime.

      Hey Luca, I don't think so, but I know that lanakai has some great ukes for around $60. Better to go for quality, rather than struggle with junk IMO. Best. -Rob

      Hy Rob! swiftlessons I was searching for the brands you suggested, and find a nice lanikai lu-11 for about 80$, though I didn't buy it yet. I'm a bit busy lately with school, and I thought I wouldn't have much time for learning to play it. I think I give it a year or so, to see where I'm standing ATM, or maybe I will have a sudden thought and will buy it anyway. :) Thank you again for the support! :)

      Andrea Ordonez btw i love your tutorial!

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  9 років тому

      Andrea Ordonez I've played a bunch of Luna ukes and they have all been nice for the price point. With that said, I do think the Cordoba ukes are of better quality and have better playability and feel, which is why I play and always recommend them. For your first uke, be sure to settle on a concert or tenor sized body. Here are two links, first the uke that I use and something comparable of a lesser price: 1) amzn.to/1aJsZ4G 2) amzn.to/1EtStyV. As another and even more affordable option, I have also enjoyed this great little uke from Lanikai: amzn.to/1EtT0Rv. I hope you find these suggestions to be helpful. Let me know how it turns out!

    I'm confused with what you are calling "Amaj", and also "Gmaj" chords, etc. Different than all the materials I've got. To me, it looks like a plain "G" chord and a plain "A" chord. Maybe you are not playing the GCEA chords as I am trying to learn them?? IDK.

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  5 років тому +1

      Hey Tonya, saying a chord is a G or Gmaj would indicate the same thing. Major is the tonality of the chord, and differentiates from other tonalities such as minor, 7th, augment, diminished etc. Your most common chords are majors and minors, you want to get those down in all 12 keys. Have fun! -Rob
