Another great list! I ordered my copy of EBR last week and am pretty excited to get cracking on it. Also very much anticipating Astro Knights Eternity delivering. I just love that game so much and can't wait to try the new mechanics, characters, bosses.
We have been enjoying a lot the A.R.T. Project as a family game. Also Race to the Raft and Dorfromantik hit the table quite often. This was a great year for co-op games!
Tales From the Red Dragon Inn is probably one of the best game designs I've seen in a while. It's just so easy to table while keeping a lot of the interesting tactical choices. the symmetric level ups means you can play whatever you want whenever you want, and the enemy system is super clean and doesn't make you take extensive time to set them up.
Thank you for your thoughts. It’s definitely nice to understand your differences between coop and solo. Any of your top 20 sounds like a great time. I am sure you could have squeezed more in of games that you enjoyed.
Holy crap there was a Keep the Heroes out kickstarter! I didn't know about it until I saw this video! I've been trying to get the Cthulu guy for a bit, now I have a bunch of cool stuff coming, yay! I was able to late pledge. Thank you so much! 😊❤
Mike! This was awesome! I just purchased a light in the mist because of this video, and have a few others tagged as “want” on BGG now. Happy new year, and looking for all the fun board game goodness you share in the next!
Well dang, I follow board gaming pretty closely and I had only ever heard of Skyteam, Sleeping Gods and Earthbourne Rangers. I’ll have to look into them more. My favorite was Disney Animated. I found it to be way more thinky than I anticipated and gorgeous to look at.
Such a great list, I need to watch this again and write faster! Astro Knights, Beyond the Rift, Sleeping Gods and Tales From Red Dragon Inn look amazing!
I remember you reviewing Light in the Mist and I was interested. I really need to track it down. I was wondering if you were going to say the name of your #1, fortunately you squeaked it in right at the end :)
I made this clearer in the top solo video, but I chose to have no overlapping games this year. So the top 20 solo list is all solo-only games or solo modes, except for a couple cooperative games that are tough to play non-solo (Voidfall, Oathsworn, etc.) A bunch of the games on this list are absolutely great for solo play... but they are also good for co-op, so they ended up here :)
For solo I think it’s great. For co-op 2 player, each controlling 2 heroes, it’s good. For 3+ co-op I won’t play it. I despise that initiative system at high player counts
Another great list! Based on your reviews and playthroughs, I purchased Lludwik's Labyrinth and shortly after, Tales from the Red Dragon Inn. Now I wonder the following. Tales seems easier to start with. But if I start with that, do you think Lludwik wil feel disappointing?
They should be reprinting #1 soon. But also I’m not sure I understand your complaint. Are you saying I should rank games differently based on how easy they are to buy?
@@OneStopCoopShop sorry could have been clearer! :) no you’re right that wouldn’t be reasonable to change a games actual ranking - but maybe some way of signalling availability for every game? Eg availability traffic light - green if it’s available retail, orange if seems at the time to have a good second resale market, red if looks very hard to get at the time. Appreciate would be country dependant to would just have to state which country and hope it’s a good indicator. And I feel bad for complaining, your videos are great, I was just crabby after seeing like half a dozen similar from various posters and every time I got excited and googled to buy, I couldn’t get it! You end up feeling like you’re wasting your time. It’s just the way the industry has gone with all the KS’s, certainly not your fault, I just hope you can find a way to help us viewers avoid the frustration :) thanks!!!
TftRDI would be my #4 in Co-op, just behind Kinfire Chronicles, Fallen Land 2nd Edition and Voidfall (Voidy of course at #1). I am looking forward to Skytear Horde.
@@OneStopCoopShop On my war table, yes. A full, 4 player, setup fits there rather easily. We call that monster of a table "eternity proof" for a reason. 😂
Tales from the Red Dragon Inn is one of the most fun games I've played in a long time. I'm honestly astounded that it's rank 4,987 on BGG, I think there's a very reasonable argument that it's better than Gloomhaven.
Haha, yeah, I barely mentioned the name by accident. It's Tales From the Red Dragon Inn. PS - all the games are listed with timestamps in my pinned comment for the video.
As someone who has played tons of war games and prototypes over the years, great art is lovely, but bad art doesn’t bother me if the mechanics are great
Wow. Could you PLEASE put the name of the game you're talking about , on the screen. Your talking so fast there is no way to catch the name of game. Show a picture of the box , anything to give us a clue , as to what game you're talking about. Thank you for the video!

Great list Mike. Your review made me pick up Tales from the Red Dragon Inn and I am very impressed!! Merry Christmas from up here in Middletown MD.
Just the video I needed. I only want co op games so really appreciate this list. Thanks and nice positive energy throughout the video hehe

Eternity is a great addition. I really enjoyed my prototype plays of it
Amazing list!
Thanks so much!

I need to play Dorfromantik. Looks fun!

Good morning Mike, I hope your Christmas was Merry.
It was, thank you! Same to you :)

It’s amazing, so I couldn’t resist :)

Yeah, both lists probably went to 25 or 30 before the games got to a full “meh” level of recommendation
Genshin Tarot! I bought it because of your playthrough and we LOVE it. Such a great game. I got the first expansion and it helps the variety.
That’s awesome! Glad I didn’t steer you wrong

Happy to help out. I added the Cthulhu faction as well :)

Maintain the mystery! 😜
EBR is such a surprising game! I love the mood, the deck construction (hoping to see more options), and the great tactical card play.
Agree completely
great video, is the Keep the Heroes Out: Boss Battles the expansion you believe will fix a lot ?
That’s the one! It adds better ways to modify difficulty, makes deckbuilding easier to do, and the bosses themselves look neat
@@OneStopCoopShop thanks so much :)
I'm surprised there's no overlap between the solo and co-op games - not sure if that was intentional or not, but great lists either way!

Where would Kinfire Chronicles have placed for you? Looking at your initial impressions you didnt seem that taken with it

I think they are both great in their own way. I don’t think playing one first will make the other seem worse
You said you played Rove at Pax: Did they say when they'll do the Crowdfunding campaign?
They did, though I don’t full remember. I feel like it was somewhere around April to June
@@OneStopCoopShop Thanks!

No Tamashii Chronicles of Ascend!? Thought you really liked that one Mike.
I liked it pretty well. It was #22 or 23 I think. Still a great game, but this was a pretty stacked year for good co-op games
How did I miss your Genshin Tarot review? My granddaughter is a Genshin nut, she will love this!

Skoventyr, but the “v” is pronounced like a “w”.
