By the way, we conducted the Ross interview on the premises of Def Jam Recordings; and it wasn't like he didn't expect us to ask him questions. I have to personally thank Rick Ross for this video has been seen well over a million times worldwide, and over 300,000 times here on YT.
Best comment yet! I saw the real Freeway Ricky Ross on New Years Eve, but it was not the right time or place to interview him on his thoughts about the rapper Rick Ross. I hope to set up an interview soon.
About Kevin Tate: I have not spoken to him in a while. The last time I saw him, I had him over at a school to get an interview with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. We met with Kareem and spoke to him for about ten minutes off camera, but his publicist would not allow us to interview him on camera. Anyway, although I have not spoken to Kev in a while, I wish him much success in whatever he's doing. Same goes to Mr. DMH and Czar who was also there.
The question about his Ross' name was a very good one. Ross' image is built on Freeway Ricky Ross. Would a gangster have to lie about how he got his name?
The interviewer's name is Kevin Tate. Ed Magik (me) was behind the camera. This video was actually recorded about nine months before 50 Cent launched his video attack on Rick Ross. Also this was before the Smoking Gun released information about Ross being a former corrections officer. Now THAT'S TRUE!
Thanks for your input. Tate could have been more assertive in getting a straight answer from Ross much like Big Boi Power 106 did in a recent interview with Ross. Ross reluctantly confessed to being a corrections officer, but that was long after many other interviews and after the 50 Cent beef became widely public and there was pressure on Ross to come correct. Now I want to get an interview with the Original Freeway Ricky Ross to ee what he has to say about the rapper Rick Ross.
@Shadywolf09 Yes. I asked him about this last night and Freeway Ricky's response will appear in the interview video. I hope to have it uploaded very soon. Maybe later today.
this video changed my life. I saw this around 08-09 and now im 27 and I live the dream. when ross said I SHIT ON NIGGAS, I felt that on a spiritual level
I have some experience producing music. I have produced over 3,000 instrumentals, some of which have been recorded with lyrics and are being sold now. I love music too! I also have experienced a level of consciousness that is telling me to discern what I listen to because it's not for me as it is not about living in harmony with the universe. It may not mean anything to you until you have experienced a similar understanding. For me, image and message in music means a lot, if not everything.
The 50 and Rick Ross beef began before the interview, but it wasn't widely public. After we recorded it, I shelved it because Ross was talking crazy and it would have been just another "Ross the Boss bully-style" interview. Months passed by before this interview was published. Beef still there, but still underground. Shortly after its publication, 50 launched his public attack on Ross. I wonder why? I published it right after the Smoking Gun Report on Ross being a corrections officer.
Rick Ross's insecurities shine through so blindingly in this video. The way he feels like he has to disrespect the person paying him to be interviewed, the way he dodges the question then creates this charade of changing subject and throwing out pointless phrases out the ass one after the other. The most interesting thing I find in this video is that he seems to be more frustrated that he asked him about how he got his pseudonym .
Technically, I was operating the cameras. I produced the video. DEF JAM allowed us to be there. There were three other artist there that we interviewed. The fact is that you must not get hostile with a celebrity talent because you can risk the possibility of never coming back for future interviews. Keep in mind that Ross' image is supposed to be a bad guy. So he acted out to make that point clear, and I think he did it without much thought; and he came off sounding wack.
this came out year ago today and its still funny as hell. this my favorite interview of alltime shit had me dying why they music stop music at 1:24 when he ask him about the 50cent rick ross beef 3:53 i was some straight up def comedy jam, living color shit. interviewer: thats why we appreciate you doing the interview. rick ross: well you know man im keep it real when i do interview 20 in a day I LIKE TO SIT WITH SHIT THAT MAKE SENSE WITH ME.
I'll give you an example, but it's not to be generalized: Suppose you decide that you need some fresh air in a warm room with other people. It's cold outside. You open a window. Noweveryone is cold, you have fresh air, but other people in the room are angry at you for letting the heat out, plus it cost them money. Now they don't like you; and they don't want to help you when you need it. This will likely make you insecure about them or vice-versa. Anger => Fear
@findmedog This was recorded before most people knew about the beef between Rapper Rick Ross and 50 Cent. Kevin Tate hosted this interview. I do production, the buck stops here, even though I often allow the hosts to speak freely. I have watched other interviews with Rapper Rick Ross. There are many similarities in how he conducts himself with interviewers, so I don't blame the interviewer for Ross' behavior. I'm a businessman -- Business recognizes business.
@Ricochet83 You know, I admire Tate's calmness during Robert's rant. While it is not a good journalism practice to allow a verbal lashing from a celebrity, it is professionalism not to get bent out of shape when some one goes off like Robert's did. I think Tate should have press Roberts to give straight answers, much like Big Boy of Power 106 did in a radio interview. Also note, we were at Def Jam and we had three other interviews to do there after Roberts. It was all good.
wheres the video of the freeway ricky ross interview..you said you interviewed him and told the other dude to check it out but i looked all over your channel and im almost sure it isnt there..wheres it at? all i saw was a video of you and ricky ross at some party chillin but there wasnt an interview at all
Calling people derogatory names fuels the anger that leads to fear that leads to action that leads to war that leads to hate that leads to more fear. Think about it.
@EdMagikTV wheres the video of the freeway ricky ross interview..you said you interviewed him and told the other dude to check it out but i looked all over your channel and im almost sure it isnt there..wheres it at? all i saw was a video of you and ricky ross at some party chillin but there wasnt an interview at all
@likedatniggawade Keven Tate did the interview. It was a joint interview between TRUE Magazine and ED MAGIK TV. I, Ed Magik, was behind the camera. I'm cool with the way it all went down because we got to see who William Leonard Roberts II really is. I will likely interview the real Freeway Ricky Ross this week. He is the person who William Roberts (Rick Ross) modeled his rap career after.
The words you use in life are very important. Choose your words carefully. If you don't know words, get to know them as they command your universe. If the words you choose to express are foul, your life will be foul. Note the words that Ross uses and note that he is unhappy despite his material wealth.
Can he speak right for once? It's not "ax" it's "ask." It's not "dat" it's "that" When speaking about facts, it's not "what da fax is," it's "what the facts are," "Though," not "doe."
When Mr. DMH owner of True Magazine was asking Ross questions and Ross answering, I wanted to just shake my head in disbelief. "Whatever Ross is on, we cannot let the rest of the public have. We'd all be loony, c'mon, how are you going to be proud to sport blood diamonds and want to get fatter than you are?" Afterwards, I decided I was not going to publish the interview, so I shelved it until 8 mos later when The Smoking Gun reported that Ross was a C.O. cont'd...
Something tells me rick ross would not be the best person to have on your team in a true or false pub quiz. "Thats true", are you sure? "yeah thats true".
