The VR was a much better workhorse than the Atlantean, although I concede that the Leyland 680 in a VR was excellent. Older Leylands were invariably cold. The Nationals with that ridiculous automatic ceiling heating and thermostat just behind the cab window guaranteed a hot head and cold feet. After 43 years bussing, in my opinion Leyland had some way to go and I say that having driven all Leyland models from the late 50's, it was often details that let them down.
