I played this one at Essen. And after playing I needed to have this game. What an amazing design! It is so much fun to play. Sometimes your turns are Quick but sometimes you really get huge turns which feel very fulfilling. Great game
@@meeple SETI and Saltfjord look pretty great and I loved playing Phoenix. Considering how awesome Galileo and SETI look, I should probably try Tea Garden to complete the Holek hat trick. These days I'm reluctant to buy a game that doesn't have a good solo mode though.
Hey guys! Very nice video about the game! Just one little detail, you can never get rid of an inquisitor, that is in the middle od the track :) The one time bonus is only for those fellas, that give you positive points at the end of your dungeon :)
The problem with Essen is that you get hyped about some games and you won’t see those games for six months to a year. By the time it finally arrives the hype train has moved on to something else and any initial enthusiasm to purchase has long dissipated. There is way too much of a delay between the advertising of a game and the actual delivery. It has turned me off many titles I actually wanted to buy at first. SETI is projected to not be available in Canada until the end of February 2025. That is ridiculous. Some Essen games from 2023 are still hard to find. They have a small print run, it quickly goes out of stock. They have a second print run six months later and again quickly goes out of stock.
I dont normally like space themed or complex euros. However both SETI and now this one look like really interesting fun game designs. I can see why theres a lot of buzz when theres even people like me wanting to try them. These designs feel like natural successors and evolution of design to the classic euro designs from 20 years ago, rather than the trend of over bloated KS games.
If you mean player v player interaction, there's not much other than jumping on things before someone else does. So really just lost opportunity type of interaction -- nothing that I would consider close to "take that" sort of stuff.
I don't want to speak for the MvM folks, but BoardGameGeek currently lists the complexity at a 2.71 out of 5. Sounds like a mid-weight plus. Certainly a fair amount to keep track of.
This feels solidly within the medium weight for sure. It's not very hard to teach/learn either -- just mostly knowing what each of the actions do, and there aren't too many different actions.
Thanks for answering the question we posed. I would counter by saying that MOST games these days have a challenging time being memorable, but with that said, I think this one (and the designers other first games) have certainly established him as a designer to watch for sure.

That's true. Some turns are like, "I'll take a red die, and pip this yellow die up." The end. But oh, those big turns! So satisfying.
Looking forward to giving this a try.
Definitely worth a try.
Danke!
Thanks so much for the support! We really appreciate that.
This is my #1 game that I want to play ASAP. It looks amazing
Nice! Are there any other Essen releases that are near the top of that list?

That's a great way to look at it. These almost feel like designs from a familiar designer with many past classics under their belt.
Trust me, SETI is a total disappointment. Sold as fast as Arnak 😅 if you like this one, it's a better choice.
This looks great, any word on a US release timeline?
They were still meeting with prospective US publishers at Essen, so I would say it's likely first half of 2025 at the earliest.
His other two are Tea Garden and SETI. All of them are getting serious coverage in the board game media.
Yeah, we've got a copy of SETI, which we hope to play very soon!
Thanks guys, how does the interaction looks like in this game? IS there negative interaction ?

@@meeple thank you :)
How complex is it to learn and what is the weight from your point of view?

No, but it’s a clean Euro that plays quickly but does little to be memorable
