Woo Hoo! I have watched you enough that I correctly theorized the possible problem that was originally observed with this car. The only thing better than a good diagnostic car video, is the realization that you have taught me so much in the past, that I could guess it now. Your videos are so informative!

I put an AGM in my 2011 Jaguar XK. Imagine how many people have gotten ripped off by mechanics for low battery induced dashboard lights. Whenever you get multiple codes from different systems, always start off with the battery.

Question... when is a battery truly dead ? A few years ago I got the dread call from my Wife " The car won't start [VW Touran] - there must be a problem with the steering, there's an orange steering wheel light showing on the dashboard - come immediately " luckily, she wasn't calling from the hard shoulder of a motorway - but from the car park of a local store. Started the car with the help of jump leads and went straight to my trusted parts shop, for a battery test. My man hooked up his test meter ( the one with the element that glows) and assured me that - there was no problem with the battery. OK. A couple of weeks passed by, still got starting problems, though not every time, together with the dash lit up . Took a deep breath and purchased a new VW battery, and .....success.
Moral of the story? .....find a test meter that is accurate

    • @iamezza
      @iamezza 2 роки тому

@@Elconbrioso One good test is to hook up a multimeter and see how low the voltage drops when trying to start the engine cold. A good battery should stay above at least 9V, a bad one can just instantly drop way low, even if you have charged it.

Hey Car Wizard! just wanted to share a story because you helped in a big way. Coworker's Chevy Cruze was dead in the parking lot, took about 3 of us to try and jump the car with no luck, battery was from 2018. Sure enough, he confirmed a battery test at his mechanic passed, but I knew from your wisdom the battery was toast. He was able to get back on the road with a new battery this week. For anyone reading this, take heed the Wizard's words, batteries that even pass the test can be bad, just get a new one after 5 years, modern cars are basically computers (I say this as a computer guy who's a diy mechanic), reliable electricity is a must these days.

I use a midtronics tester at work and getting false positives and negatives on a battery test is fairly common. Sometimes it won't detect a surface charge and call a bad battery good. Other times you won't get a perfect connection and it'll fail it. It's a very handy tool most of the time, but you have to be careful how you use it.

I reckon it makes sense to check at the battery if you are getting so many "low voltage" reports via diagnostic readings. But, what can throw anyone is if the vehicle cranks and starts. In most cases the first clue of a battery issue is weak or no crank.

I know a battery's a battery--my 2001 VW uses the same one, an H5--but I'm amused at the concept of fixing an exotic like this with a battery that came from Sears. You'd almost expect Lamborghini to have to send over some special, super-light (batteria superleggera?) battery from Bologna, Italy.

Even some functions of normal cars get unhappy if the battery isn't quite up to spec.
The automatic engine start/stop on my 2017 Ford Escape quit working, but there were no diagnostic codes.
I noticed at night, with the car stationary, the lights would briefly dim when I turned the steering wheel. It has an electric steering rack.
I put a new AGM battery in it and the lights stopped dimming, and the automatic start/stop started working again.

Other than starting, diesel engines usually do not consume much electricity in order to run,..no spark igniton, no HP fuel pump, no large computers...and being older...better build quality and no DEF or DPF?
So once a diesel runs...it's really only recharging the battery....which stays in tip- top condition.
I hope you bought the biggest battery which could fit in the gap provided...also a great way to get good life as the batteries fitted to many are the smallest possible to reduce weight...
not with the capacity to start in very cold weather after a couple of years...or after you accidentally left the lights on for a while....
Keep up the maintenance and oil/filter changes...it's cheaper changing the oil many times... than the engine... once!

Probably no longer under warranty, and in this case the issue is just the battery, it wasn't a major service. Also most Aventadors are 1 of something, since they didn't make much of any variants of them. They made about 1,000 units a year, though all of them are valuable.

Anyone else noticed how he tried to "toughen up" the wizard cartoon image at the beginning? He replaced the soft looking baby's butt nose and added "fire" to the beard to try and hide some of the D&D Dungeonmaster geeky vibes. Didn't work. LOLz

That Lamborghini has so much to go wrong and it looks a nightmare to work on which means long hours for mechanic's. Even if I could afford one and would consider having a large savings account for the repairs it will no doubt need

the sideways struts and rocker arm suspension are to reduce unsprung weight; typical race car practice.
