    In this video I will show you how to build your own small but powerful 14dBi waveguide (cantenna) with a panel antenna replacing the more common monopole. The waveguide is constructed out of 1.5mm thick aluminium giving it an impressive front to back ratio. As such more of the RF power is focused forward in a 45 degree beamwidth.

    Happy new year everyone. First video of 2024 is a build video, these tend to be longer but hopefully I have included all the info you need to build one for yourself. I have also put a few on eBay if you wish to buy one.

      Hi andrew, I live in a rural area and my nearest tower has downlink frequencies of 734 MHz, but most of your videos are about 2.4 Ghz antennas. Can you help me please?

    that's amazing; but what would take to make a 20+ db version of this? have you ever tried to put your 2 foot long brass gun in a can? do you think all the measurements would have to change?!

    Is there a way to make a receiver that can pick up 3G or 4G networks from outside the house and then broadcast them back inside the house

    Hello Mr. Andrew, how can I send you pictures of a very simple model that I learned from UA-cam, but it has some problems? I suspect that the problem is with the measurements.
    I need you to take a look at it and provide us with your guidance
    This is the only model that gave me a response because I suffer from weak internet in my area
    I hope you can help me, thank you

    There is a thing called aluminium loaded epoxy resin. That will give you electricity conductive bond. Also you can buy silver loaded epoxy resin but it is very expensive but again it will give good mechanical bond as well as a good electric bond.

    How do you measure the gain of the antennas you design?

    • @tarakivu8861
      @tarakivu8861 8 місяців тому +1

      There are anyzers which measure the reflection of power of different frequencies of the antenna.
      Tools can cost you a leg and an arm, a house, or you can get small cheap ones like the NanoVNA (well, maybe also not super cheap, but much cheaper than theothers, around 100-200$)

    • @dfgaJK
      @dfgaJK 8 місяців тому +4

      @@tarakivu8861 yes that is how the reflection power is measured. But I'm asking how is the gain measured?

    Hello Sir ❤
    I have been following your account since 5 months , one thing I have come to realise that you have extreme knowledge but your subscribers are way less than you deserve.
    You deserve a million subscribers of what you are doing.
    I would recommend you using attractive thumbnails for your videos , which will make your videos attractive and another thing you could do is make your voice a bit clear in the videos.
    I hope you see this comment.
    Lots of love ❤

    Great video as always. Is each square on the network analyzer 1db? and could you show us how to make a high gain antenna for 1090mhz? I bought one on Aliexpress which was supposedly 12dbi but it performed terribly.

    Is that central bolt isolated from the main driven element?
    I guess it must be 🤔

    I was thinking that using some of the aluminum "brazing" material to at least "tack" the aluminum reflector to the tubing would give a guaranteed electrical bond, if that is critical, because the aluminum oxidizes quite quickly to a nonconductive surface... Just a thought?

    if i build a biquad antenna should i connect the driven to the coax ground? since i saw that you du such things on all of your biquad antenna, i never build biquad before but im used to building yagi with a dipole driven element and they usually tell us to use 4:1 coax balun and not just connect the other side to the coax shield which gonna makes rf travels on the outer shield and probably interfeering with the inner coax core where the rf should be

      Eso es debido a que se calculan a 1/4 de longitud de onda de la frecuencia y a su vez teniendo en cuenta el factor de velocidad de la luz en los materiales que es diferente a la del vacío. Por esta razón es que salen más cortas las medidas de la antena física.

    Isn't the driven element shorted to the enclosure using the screw? I thought it shouldn't be

    • @andrewmcneil
      @andrewmcneil  6 місяців тому

      Yes if we wanted it isolated the measurements would be different and would not work as well. Shorting in RF does not have the same outcome as shorting electrically

    You might try to expand the brass wire or tube to "rivet" it onto your driven element.. just 'because,' I reckon.. 😀

    Hello Andres. A pleasure to write to you.
    I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the M6 screw with an M2 or M3 one. In my experience, using a thinner screw has given me better results, and even better using a plastic screw. I don't know if it is possible to try those variants.
    Thank you

    Hola Andrew. Un placer escribirle.
    Me pregunto si es posible remplazar el tornillo M6 por uno M2 o M3. En mi experiencia me ha dado mayor resultado usar un tornillos mas delgado, incluso mejor utilizando un tornillo plástico. No se si es posible probar esas variantes.
    Saludos
