    Don't really need one for my little lawn area, not happy about the price but I want one.
    Leaning really hard toward getting a Scag over a Honda.

    This wil be good for bigger lawns for sure.
    On a 4x4 meter manicured kind of lawn still would use a good 30 kilos mowers.
    You really need at least 2 mowers if you mow for a living

    I wish we had a closer look at the clutch. I don't know what they are like compared to Honda's Commercial Roto-Stop blade clutch as those are known to go decades in residential use. The deck is similar in design to Honda's shape wise but it's nice to see the front is one uniform curve as my Honda has a baffle bolted in place there instead. I don't know how someone brakes driveshafts on lawn mowers for the drive system as I have never had that problem with any of the Hondas I have owned over the years. I'm not a big fan of belts for anything though and my Honda with its hydrostatic transmission (used in Canada and the US) doesn't have that surge but in Australia you have mosty gear boxes on your Hondas for some reason. Kohler's Command Pro engines are really good engines and I currently have four of them in my possession on a couple of Cub Cadets (12.5 hp horizontal shaft), a John Deere rider I was recently given (13 hp vertical shaft) and my Walker with a 23.5 hp V-Twin. The flail style blade systems you have in Australia are a good idea to a point, but lead me to think they can become projectiles much more easily than the rigid bar blade systems we use in North America.

    How does it do with hills? What are the wheels and tires made of?

    Most commercial 21" are still running the Kawasaki FJ180 are they not? This has more or less been around since 2004 when it was introduced with the revamped JX75, later on the WE80/85 which came from Eastman, correct? Not saying anything Kohler is a bad engine, but there's definitely a more common engine out there for the commerical ones.

      The Kohler engine I find rev better and has more torque it would definitely be my choice of engine.

    When does the 7hp 21 inch arrive in Australia

  • @Alan_lay

    I’ve got the 30 and love it, I wouldn’t buy this simply because of the height adjustment, adjusting the wheels individually at the start and finish of each job adds up to a lot of wasted time at the end of the day….I never bought a toro for the same reason…

    I'm considering buying this Scag 21 inch mower to replace my Honda HRC216. I know they make a 5 hp and 7 hp. Will the 5 hp cut it in most situations? Why would anyone need the 7 hp? If there are good enough reasons, I'll buy the 7 hp,

    • @mowermerch
      @mowermerch 9 місяців тому

      The 5Hp if what we have done all our testing with and is a great mower, the 5HP will completely out perform your Honda.

      @@mowermerch I forgot to ask you this question. My front lawn is about 5,000 feet St. Augustine and has a slope of about 35 degrees at the front, going down to the sidewalk. My HRC was able to handle it, so I feel that the 5 hp will handle it, too. Do you think I should wait for the 7 hp? My Honda is still living its last breath, and I can wait until March when my dealer will offer Scag discounts, so price is "no object."

      I really like the 5hp is lighter then the 7hp and i find the power to be more then enough, iv put the 5hp through some tough testing and iv never had it struggle. i think if you want to save some coin and have a mower thats a little lighter then go the 5hp its a great unit and will do everthing you need
