This video is very very special as I have made an electric bike that too India's first electric bike with four gears. The idea behind making the geared electric bike was to make a commuter or street bike with an economy, green, zero-emission street bike that can easily carry any person, two persons and can cruise at a decent speed. It lags nowhere in the city's fast-moving traffic. Also, it can carry loads while climbing more than 35 degrees of slopes. We have made all of the above things to be true and working on the bike. The donor bike that we took was in very bad shape. This project took six months to complete as we wanted all of the above criteria to be present on our bike. How we made it and what all modifications are done to make this bike is all well described in this video. Basically, we took Bajaj Boxer and used only the frame and gearbox of the bike. For using a four-speed gearbox on an electric bike, we had to replace the main crankshaft with the customized one. Also, a thick motor plate was fabricated for mounting the motor on the gearbox to make it a complete electric engine with four gears. This project came out really very good and even more than my expectations. I hope that you loved watching this video.
Many of my friends have asked me this following are reasons
1) Better torque on lower power motor.
2) electric vehicles are typically cursed for lower traction up hilling or climbing a slope that is eliminated in this.
3) overall lesser amps draw from battery due to gears improving the life of battery and efficiency of the entire system
4) higher load carrying capacity due to gears
5) I have just used a 1000watt motor which outputs barely 2000 rpm at the shaft but still, I have managed to strike a balance between performance and power just because of a geared system

Thanks for appreciation bro. On your project I would like to mention that using AC motor for bike won't be that efficient because there are two reasons. 1) AC motor is not suitable for smaller systems like bike but better suited for cars 2) lesser efficiency means less milage that cannot be an effodable solution where range is a concern because we have to pack in batteries in smaller system. 3) three phase induction motors have 15 to 20 % less efficiency than that of BLDC motors so just at the start you are deploying system where in you loose out 15 to 20% so if you consider 2kw of battery pack you would be able to get just 1.7 KW considering that the system is just 15% less efficient and taking into account higher loss of say 20% it's even more worse. So these were some my thoughts on your project. Good luck. Feel free to contact me for any help.🙏👍😊✌️

Well done. It had been my dream to this prototype you have accomplished. I have searched in the UA-cam for eBike with gearbox for so long until I got to see your beautiful achievement at last. I have one query about the the Battery capacity: should it be 6Ah instead of 24Ah? Because, when you connect batteries (equal voltage and Ah) in 'series', the voltage will increase (voltage of single battery + total number of batteries) but the Ah (Ampere hour) will remain as of one battery. Whereas, it will be vice-versa in case of 'parallel connection. Because, in a 'parallel' connection, the voltage will remain as of the single battery voltage but the Ah will increase (ampere of single battery + total number of batteries). Lastly, thank you so much for your innovative, wonderful and informative project. You are the 'Indian Pioneer for gearbox eBike'. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
First of all thanks a million for such a warm appreciation. Series parallel of batteries have simple math. For example 2amp cell with 2v each in 2s 2p that is four cells will give you 4v 4amp. Had it been all in parallel will give you 2v 8amp and vise versa all in series no parallel will give you 8v 2amps. Only one thumb rule to be followed in series parallel of batteries is that while making series connection all cells should have equal amp hr capacity though voltage varies. And in parallel connections all voltages should be equal and current capacity or amp hr capacity of each may vary. This is because if cells in parallel have different voltages batteries will internally discharge from one having higher potential to lower one. Where as in series your current capacity should be equal because the capacity of stack is as strong as the weakest capacity cell in series. As that one empties out rest of the higher capacity cells will not be able to deliver power. I hope I have answered to your query. Thanks once again and feel free to ask for any query. 🙏😊👍✌️

This is pure electric and petrol option is not kept but it is possible to build hybrid but it's not feasible because each system has to carry the load of other when in use reducing the efficiency of overall system. What a great piece of engineering ..but could I ask of you to put a guard over the motors drive sprocket .just in case your trousers get caught in it ,while riding ..just a thought ..great machine though.

There are two major modifications possible for this idea..
1. Use automated gear vehicle such as scooty. This will provide less hassles with gear change. Also, big engine space will provide more battery capacity.
2. Use ultracapacitors in parallel with batteries to give initial driving force to the motor which will help when carrying heavy load or moving uphill.
Note: You may switch to fuel cells as well, provided that it when combined with above idea delivers efficient solution.
Also, try to learn and modify ideas used by tesla motors Inc.
Thank you bro. As what you said about scooty you will see that video in a week or two we have been working on it since this video was uploaded. It is almost done now. Paint job and finishing touches remain. What you said about fuel cell that idea defies the concept of low cost maintenance free electric vehicle capable of good load carrying capacity. Using ultra capacitors will add volume to this bike and space is at premium on this bike. Also initial starting torque is already provided by gearbox which is sufficient to get bike moving energetically without capacitors too as initial inrush of current is already well below battery capacity of its c rating. Regarding advance technology like Tesla's are using we do know about it and with support of all of you we will beat the competition in future. @@techtube360world The bike has been wonderfully done. The lead gel battery you used helps in bringing down the total cost of the bike. And I love the fact that you kept the gear box. And that you directly connected gear and chain to the new shaft rather than using the timing chain as some others have done. I wish to make one like this, please tell me the total cost of battery, motor, controller, and other parts of the kit. Also please tell me the top speed and mileage of the bike. And have you done the conversion of other people too?
This is a wonderful initiative that you have taken. You have given new life to a bike that would otherwise just lie around in some scrap yard. I also appreciate the way you still used the gear system to mate it to the motor. I have always wondered why do majority of electric vehicles come with single speed (including cars) and why can't they mate it to a manual or an automatic gear system. Could be the cost which you have eliminated by reusing the existing gear system.
Would have loved to see some numbers too, like, the range, cost of all the parts and fitting, how to get these done in other cities, etc, which would be very helpful.
Regarding the guys you dislike your video, I can bet they will have no reason if they understand what you are trying to achieve. I encourage you to keep the good word and keep improving your solution.

It is limited to 55kmph. New body shape using available resources. Used lifepo4 battery pack that too home made but made professionally. Have made new version as much commuter friendly as possible. First rule of electronic bike is reduce as much weight as possible so that it can gives you extra run(mileage). that L-shape plate is too heavy for motor. you can built in 1&half inch angle rod which is sturdy enough to hold the motor. anyway its a good project👍🏻.

How much it will cost and r u guys are planning to do some business or start up like this many people want to convert their bike to electric instead of buying it because I checked revolt it is costing around 1.5 lacs that is too much so I have cancelled it. It would be great if you convert my bike and please start your startup to convert old bike to electric people don't wanna throw their bike in garbage if this conversation options are available then many people will convert their exciting bikes to electric. First of all thanks a million for appreciation. Yes my new boxer video is due for long will try to update it by next weekend. We have converted two boxers and one scooty pep plus. Video of scooty pep is also available on my channel. Yes we are into process of commercialisation of kits for activa,access,jupiter, splendour, boxer and scooty pep. This will save lot of money of people. I have been using my new boxer with lifepo4 battery pack since last three months and it performs extraordinarily. Yes I can convert old discover to geared electric. The bike which you saw in video costed about 40k excluding old bike cost. New one costed me around 65k with fast charge. It has top speed of about 55kmph and range of about 65 to 70kms per charge. It also has fast charge feature and gets fully charged in 2.15 hrs flat. Battery life in that bike is expected to be about 8years considering charge per day. Running cost is about 10 to 16 paisa per km max depending on which state you live. We are from Rajkot Gujarat. My contact details are available in about section of the channel. If contact number is not visible it will be visible once you subscribe to channel. We are working hard for testing it before it gets to market. 96% testing is completed and it's approximated that if you are traveling 45 Kms daily the conversion will be free in about 20 months max taking into account IC engine bike or scooter. There is no maintenance in this bike once it's build unlike IC engine bikes. The only maintenance you need is tyres and brake shoes. Even the gearbox oil can last you 2lakh Kms as it's never going to get degraded.I want to give my fellow Indians a pocket friendly and environment friendly gift for life time with no compromise on performance of day to day commuting. That's a million dollar question. As of now those which can be done re passing we take that and convert but just because of pollution norms the vehicles getting obselete may be considered by government for reuse to electric conversion as those vehicles are road legal so that's for a further step you can visit tech tube 360 channel page where other updated versions of bike are available. I have seen that most beautiful and superb videos also get dislike from some "Chutiye" type log who dont give reason for dislike becoz they dont know anything about subject. No need gear box never fails in any bike. And you can keep riding for 100000 Kms nothing will happen to gears gearbox and clutch without oil change... It is very robust

First of all thank you so much for warn compliments. Cost is around 42k inclusive of bike cost from scrap labour and parts. Selecting this bike had two reasons. 1) This was available for scrap price at our disposal.
2) vertical block and head assembly with more space to fix motor was another
3) light compact and practical city bike could be boxer ideally.
