Best takeaway every "Don't get shot". I had this guy at Hood I think he deployed with 3ID back in 05-07 time frame. He was about your build. Should have been in a medium plate, but for some reason he wore a large IOTV and plate. Finally I asked him why "Dude I got shot before 2 rounds hit the plate one round hit underneath it. He said it seem like it hit something else first because it didn't penetrate that far, but after that he was like I want as much coverage as possible."
I see so many people, especially in the prepper community that do not know the proper placement and wear of their PC/CR. They wear them WAY too low, they wear chest rigs as belly rigs, and have their plate carriers too low and not covering their vitals like they should be.
Great video, learned a good deal. Also I spent a day on LPD-8 while in the Marines during a training op. Definitely wasn't designed with Marines in mind, I had to be pushed through a bulkhead with my Malice 3 pack. (later ships had wider openings)
Man, you film in some amazingly beautiful locations! Oh yea, thanks for the info as always. Also, are you going to do a review on the BFG plate carrier? It looks like a low profile winner.
Ya, I can't stand watching UA-cam videos with beige carpet in the background... I will probably do a review on that carrier at some point. I have used it some, but not to much.
i think its ok to to have the back plate a little low because you're supposed to lean foward in a cqb situation and that will make the rest of your upper back be in front of the plate when its at an angle
Great info. If more bought their plates, etc. from companies , vs. 3rd party sales agents, they would get the info this gent provided in the sale... cheapest prices may be the costliest in worse case scenarios.
Ever had to deal with the OTV/MTVs bodyarmor in response to all the vehicle casualties from ieds? I'd trade that for an old interceptor in a heartbeat.
When you talk about nipples for the width of the plate, does it have to be wide enough to make it to your nipples or does it have to completely cover your nipples? I've used 10x12 plates and now I'm trying to figure out if need L or M SAPI plates. I'm 6'3". Does the half inch in width make much of a difference? M makes it to my nipples but doesn't completely cover them.

People complain about the weight until they get shot at.
It is a balance. :)
I approve of your music choices.
Then you have good taste. :)
Thanks for the video, haven't warn a vest for many years. Will be measuring to give my boss specs, nice background.
Great video. I served on the USS Dubuque 84-88.
Right on, check out the Float Tape Series, you'll see a familiar ship... :)
This WAS very informative. Thanks, Ivan!
I was so worried that i bought plates that were to small for me because in the navy i was issued plates/carrier that were too big

Ahh, that miserable ship... Glad someone else got to share in it :)

I like the take away from this "don't get shot " 😄

The best place to talk knowledge, is on the beach...Great Video bro
Thanks man!
Great points, as always!

"Takeaway from this: Don't get shot". OK. I'll try but I can't promise you anything.
I'm 5'11" tall and my plate carrier is about 3" above my belly button. I'm using 10×12 plates. Guess I've been using the wrong size

No, fortunately I did not.
Good info, Thanks. Is that Morro Rock in the background?
I spy with my little eye... Yes. And thanks for watching.
So my nipple to nipple measurement is 9” (don’t share this with anyone). So an 8x10 plate is too narrow or would you think that’s close enough?
Probably be fine.
Kit Badger - you’re awesome - thanks for all your advice and content
@@dsbiddle glad to share it.

It's a good and informative vid, but next time, please put the light source behind the camera, so we can see your demonstration better.
what size should you wear was this plate you were reviewing, should you go smaller if you can, for weight reduction?
Yo Ivan, can we get a playlist of your intro songs? Every video they’re straight killin it
I need to post it again. It went out in the weekly email on my site.
Kit Badger Right on, I could use some new playlists
God I love "rancid"
They rock.
So, if you 6'8" what do you do? Get one of those dangling armor pieces?
Get large plates. Your heart and most of your lungs are still covered.
@@KitBadger does the skd brig fit large plates?
@@robertrobertson8575 10x12 specific cut. I mention the different ones in the video I did on it.
I'm tall to, and I run abdominal armor attached to the bottom of my plate carrier.
I am 5.8 but just got some 10x12. I look like am wearing a baby shirt. I didn't realize I was that big and I am NOT either lol. Looks like 11×14 🤦🏽♂️
Yo Ivan, what size is that? Im a little shorter than you at 5'8" and im wondering if I should get a size small or medium carrier/plates.
Anybody know what this plate carrier is called?
Blue Force Gear Minimus
What kind of plate carrier is that?
Blue Force Gear.
How long were u a cop?
About a year or so.
@@KitBadger why only a year?

When are and daddy grande going to do a video together?
I think you both have alot of same thinking plus you bothered here in the Pacific Northwest.
Why is it that UA-cam somehow removes my likes from your videos? I know for a fact that liked this video months ago.
