- As promised here's a video of how I create Momigami papers. There are MANY methods...this is what I found works best for me.
I'll be adding more Momigami papers to my Etsy shop soon.
Thank you!! I’ve used olive oil with a few drops of cinnamon and Clive essential oils mixed in a bowl. Lovely fall smell. I LOVE your choice of paper! Love ya!
I have done this with olive oil. I use colorful magazine pages, 1 and 2 sided. I dont print anything. So easy to do while watching tv. Even odd images work for this because after being treated, the image takes on an abstract look. Example: a colorful pic of a tractor or a bug or anything. Even solids take on a leatherish finish. Hope that makes sense.
This is the first technique I watched. The channel is ‘Book & Paper Arts’. I just love how abstract the designs get using glossy magazine pages. Last year I moved house and purged a large collection of old Martha Stewart magazines I had been saving. Why is it that every time I decide I need to purge, what ever i took to the recycle bin is something I should have saved! 😔😔😔. My friends & family all think I ‘hoard’; none of them are crafters! ☺️
Wow! What an awesome technique! I’ve never heard of this before & appreciate you sharing.
Hi there.... thanks for your comment! I only came across momigami a year ago, and have had fun playing! Do try it yourself!
I used udder butter on paper bag & it did great. My allergies probably wouldn't like the rose lotion.
I'm glad you explored this! I'll be teaching this in the summer and should probably have an alternative. Thanks! I'll give udder butter a try!
Fun! Thanks for sharing! Where do you find your designs to print?
This is what I want to know. If they are printed on, I’m surprised they don’t bleed when the lotion hits it.
Liked and shared! Thank you so much…. What a cool
Idea
Thanks !
Hair conditioner or water with glycerine (1 part Gly to 6 parts water) will work too.
Interesting technique. Just subscribed. ❤🇦🇺
Thanks Jennifer. I'll be adding more soon.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
So pretty
Thank you! Fun to make!
Thank you for the detailed video. Perfect. Do you print on an INKJET or LASER printer? And a suggestion: from an earlier video, you mention GAYLE. But I don’t know who that is. Maybe put her full name or if you have a link to her particular MOMIGAMI video, add that in your description? I know you’re new to your channel and I think you’re doing well so far. Now to get some Jergen’s Rose Lotion.
Thank you for your sweet comment! Here's Gayle's video: ua-cam.com/video/5wd5oWER2Qw/v-deo.html

YES,I HAVE DONE AND ENJOY TOO!!!!
Does that mean we're 'Momigami sisters' ?? lol
thanks.
Lovely stuff!, I’m sorry but exactly what are the papers you use?…..wrapping paper…..or ?. Thanks.
Watch the video. She gives several examples of how to use.
Hi Wendy.... basically, I'm using HP presentation paper, 30#. but the technique works with many types of paper.
My apologies, did you choose a picture of your computer then print it on the hp paper?
Watch at 1:32 when she shows exactly the paper she used.💗
Where do you find the sheets of flower paper, please??❤
New subbie. Yaaayyy. where do u get these beautiful pictures from?
Hello! and thanks! The papers are digital prints I purchased through Etsy. Unfortunately, the large print roses are no longer available. But there are MANY others! Blessings
Beautiful papers, I wondered what printer you are using? And where do you get your pictures to print? 🙏
I was wondering that too. I googled William Morris wallpaper, found sites, took screenshots of the ones I liked and printed.
Must be a laser printer, otherwise the moisture in the lotion would run the ink.
I just watched a video of someone who does not use lotion or hair conditioner (anything with a humectant in it works, many use oil, but it’s not necessary)
I asked the same question. Where are these prints from.
beautiful where do you get patterns to print?
Realmente hermoso el resultado, no entendí muy bien, utilizas crema de mano? Yo conozco otra técnica con acondicionador de cabello, gracias
Thank you.
Sorry if this is a stupid question; I haven’t tried yet but want to. I’ve watched a few tuts on making momigami cloth, all different ways, but my question is…where did the ‘print’ come from that you printed onto the HP paper?
Thanks.
Is a thicker lotion/ cream better for momigami making?
Some of the other techniques required setting aside or hanging for a period of 7 or more days. What is your drying period?
Usually just a few minutes. Maybe up to an hour. I don't over-saturate the papers.
Got it. Thanks
Does the lotion ever dry out?
What printer do you have, it prints beautifully
Thank you. I use an Epson eco tank 8500. BEST printer I've ever used!
Hi Chris!
Thanks for this video. I had completely forgotten about this technique. I will use them for cards.
How do you print without borders? Do you have to go to your Printer settings?
Cheers!
Hi Shala.... thanks for your comment! The borderless print command is in the print size. Mine shows US Letter 8.5 by 11, then has a little up and down arrow. That will give you the option for borderless. I did a screen shot, but cant figure how to post it here. Thanks again, have fun!
Thanks@@GrandmasLaces
How durable are momigammi papers?
Ok you never mention how or where to make this beautiful paper plse explain understand the cream part we normal use conditioner
Thanks for your comment, but I'm not sure what you mean by how or where. I just use my craft desktop. I purchased the digitals from numerous Etsy shops. To explain the 'cream' part....I just found using Jergens Rose body butter to have just the right emolients to give durability to the papers...plus they smell delightful. Thanks again for your comment.
Nice technique, but where do you find the prints to print out?
Where do you get these beautiful prints that you used?
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the Etsy shop that offered the large rose digital, is no longer open. But, if you do some searches on Etsy you'll find MANY wonderful digital resources. Blessings
Can you do this with cardstock?
Not too sure about that! I've tried it will wallpaper but cardstock is a bit heavier. I'll give it a go!
What type of printer do you use to get such beautiful images? Thanks
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my Epson Ecotank ET-8500! Beautiful and vibrant colors! Thanks for your comment! Sweet blessings to you.
@@GrandmasLaces it's an inkjet? I'm surprised the lotion doesn't smear the images! That's awesome
What kind of paper do you start with?
Will this work on scrapbook paper? I don’t have a color printer
Also how long does it take to dry, or does it dry? If it’s supposed to be dry can I use a heat tool or hair dryer on it? This is so cool
Actually, I haven't used scrapbook paper yet. It does work on thick wallpaper, so I imagine it will depend on the quality of the scrapbook paper. Try it. Let us know!
Good Question! My papers take about 10-30 minutes to dry, depending on the air and heat source. if I put them in front of my space heater, it's dry in minutes. Most often I leave them in a breathtaking pile on my desk. A day later I smooth the papers and create another beautiful stack. They are just so pretty!
I tried it, with not much success. Maybe I squeeze too hard. Mine have ripped. I will try again. My best so far was a piece of tissue paper using hand lotion
It can be tricky at first. I had many torn pages, until I adjusted my handling of the paper. Keep trying! Here's a hug for good effort
Love this technique! Where do you order the rose lotion ?
I order it from Amazon. I've used other lotions... but for me, this works the best!
are you printing on inkjet or laser?
Hi Lisa.... I LOVE my Epson 8500 Ink Jet printer. Best vivid colors! Thanks, Blessings
@@GrandmasLaces YEAH...I have the same printer ET8550! Love it also! Didn't know it would work with this method! I just tried a sample and used the lotion on the back...it worked into the paper all over, but didn't apply it directly to the front right away...
@@lisalange4922 using lotion on the backside was probably a good place to start. What I’ve noticed is the only time I get any smears is if I have a very thick, heavy black, printed line. Ink jets are water, soluble, but this lotion method has worked just fine for me.
also,what about just using water?
+
You might experiment with water. I think it's the emollient's in the lotion that strengthens the fibers and makes them flexible. Try it with water and let me know....it's only paper, as they say! lol
Beaucoup de bla bla mais rien de concret
Thank you.
This looks like a fun technique, I am looking forward to giving this a try for my junk journal papers. Thank you for sharing.
Thank YOU for your comment! Do have fun playing with the papers!
So sorry I am not understanding what the printer or the printer paper has to do with anything. Are these pages you like from a magazine and you scanned them through the printer. I must have missed something. I look forward to hearing your reply. Thanks. And yes they are beautiful.
What printer and ink? And where did you get your patterns for printing?
So you don’t add more lotion, just the ‘less than a tbsp’ you showed us?
I love the idea of scented paper and the paper fabric feel is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! Enjoy!
Beautiful, have never heard of this before, but now I am hooked!
You will totally enjoy the whole process! Have fun and try out other papers too.
❤
I love this technique. Thanks for the lesson.
You are so welcome!
The out come is beautiful. Where do i get those patterns?
I have sourced my papers from Etsy digital offering. So MANY wonderful patterns and styles! Thanks for your comment!
Beautiful. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you!! my pleasure.
WoW, Chris, how awesome is that!!!! The only one I found is this Jergens Rose Body Butter Lotion, Hand and Body Moisturizer with Camellia Essential Oil. Is it the same as the one you are using in the video? I need to sign up for your class!!!!! And you did great in the video!!!! Looking forward to see upcoming creations!!!!🥰🥰
Beautiful! What kind of printer do you use?
I love my Epson 3800! Bright beautiful colors. A bit pricier than the other Epson printers....but I am SO HAPPY with this. Thanks for asking. Blessings.
Ink jet printer, or color laser? So wonderful! Tfs
WOW! I never heard of this type of crafting with paper! I LOVE IT!!!! Gorgeous! What type of printer do you use to get such beautiful color prints? Is it a special one or just regular? I am definitely going to try this!!!!!
Hi Chris, new subbie here.. I have tried this a while back but the paper turned white at all the creases and it did tear. The color was not a pretty as when I started. It looked faded. Do you think its the printer, I have only a ink jet or could it be the paper ? I use regular printer paper. Tfs… Dee
Hi Dee, Thanks for subbing! I think the white showing through is due to the ink on the paper. I use an Epson 8500 printer...makes for vivid colors. I've gotten the white effect when using calendar pages, magazine pictures, and a few book pages. It's trial and error. Have fun experimenting! Blessings, Chris
@@GrandmasLaces thank you for your reply.
Beautiful! What type of printer do you have, please?
Hi there.... I love my Epson 8500 Eco tank. bright brilliant colors. Spent years with misc other printers. This is by far the best ink jet printer ever!
@@GrandmasLaces Thank you! I just ordered one. ❤️👏👏👏💯
Can you tell name of digital kit for big, beautiful roses? Thanks.
Hi
Theresa.... I looked up the Etsy shop, unfortunately it is closed at the moment.
This was the description.
12 High-Quality Seamless Watercolour Summer
Purchased from PatternPassionStudio on Apr 25, 2023
Sorry they aren't available right now. But keep looking! Blessings.
@GrandmasLaces Thank you so much for info. Theresa
how does other paints etc react to hand lotion, especially if you want to add more colour over the pattern?
I'm really not sure. I've inked over the surface. The hand lotion evaporates pretty quickly, leaving that beautiful texture. Good luck! LMK how it works out.
Well, that's definitely moisturizing.
Yes... my hands feel so good, for days!
Can you mode podge over paper for more protection? Using matt?
Oh yes.... I usually use Mod Podge when using the papers to cover a book. Thanks for the good question!
