  • In this video, I show you how to cut synthetic rope properly and fast. If you use a knife, the end of synthetic rope, including 550 paracord, will fray and turn into a mess. But, if you use this technique to cut your rope, you will end up with clean, professional ends that never fall apart. You will get the same results as retail stores do when cutting rope and straps.

Thank you, that will save me a lot of time. I need to make multiple paracord (750) cords up, so upto 20 plus a day.

Retail stores have an electric thermal cutter. If you have to do constant cutting that requires a lot of effort, consider using a cheap soldering iron or solder gun with a blade on it. That would be even more efficient.

I look forward to your videos. I've been a climber for 20+ years, and appreciate your knowledge and ideas. I watched Antarctic Tears today on Amazon and it was amazing. Bought a few of your books for my collection too. Keep up the great work and I look forward to watching some more of your adventures

Yeah, when I need to find the best way to cleanly cut paracord, consultation with an Arctic Explorer is the first thing that comes to mind. Nice video (and oddly enough, I have the same red vice in my basement). Will get my torch and blade and start cutting in advance of my next backpacking adventure in the Olympic National Park. Tnx, Aaron!

I do a similar process with a utility razor knife blade held in a vise grip. Typically I use blades that are dull and toss them afterwards as they are discolored and have melted plastic on them.
